And as Ninty's said many times in the past, it won't be a big graphical leap at all.

Sure, but the controller and stuff like that is also fairly revolutionary, so I wonder how much of the new Zelda would take advantage of that. Then again, since the Rev is backwards compatible there should be a competent way to play gc games on it, so I guess the controls shouldn't be that bad, anyway. And, even if they're shooting themselves in the foot a little bit, its only the 360 that's out right now, so we still are sort of in this gen for a while.

Would you guys like to see Riku back in 2K6? After KH2, he could probably be a pretty good mid-carder.

That seems like it could be a good match; based off of a constant Frog, they're pretty close. I'd wait until KHII comes out to call that match.

I'd take Riku in an upset pick, especially if he gets a Deep Dive pic. Hell, some people could confuse him for Sephiroth =p

Unless KHII turns out being one of the best games ever made I don't see Riku beating MC.

That, and...MC would also have to prove to be quite overrated, AND Riku needs to have a large AND appealing role.

...actually, if all of that happened, Riku might actually win without breaking too much of a sweat. But most of that probably won't be the case.

But, if Riku was strong enough to beat MC, just think how strong Sora migh be.

Except for MC/Crono, all signs lead to MC being around his 2k3 level. Assuming Samus = Mario and MC was at his 2k3 level (neither of which is hard to buy), Frog shouldn't be too far off from it...and Riku was just a lil' under Frog. With MC being at 24.38% and Riku at 22.92% -- assuming both theories are true -- the match would already go 53-47...and after the hell that KH caused in 2k3, it's not unreasonable to think Riku could make up for that extra 3%. If nothing else, the scare of KH2 and the fact that MC is 0-3 against Square characters makes this a legit match worth seeing in my mind.

Now, granted, I'm still skeptical on Samus being as strong as Mario (when some think she's stronger than Mario still, making the match even closer) and alot of people got sold on MC just off of the MC/Crono match...and there's a chance either theory could be wrong, thus making the match not so good. However, both of them are legit, and the board would still make that one highly discussed match.

Maybe, but I would worry more about Mc losing to Sora than I would him losing to Riku. Sora/MC is a better match than Riku/MC methinks.

What I plan to do is just sit back and watch the (hopefully) female character battle in the spring to give us a preview of what to expect when sc2k6 hits.

Hell, it worked this year. Bowser and Ganon both proved that Nintendo's stronger than ever, and I probably wouldn't have picked Mario to win if the spring contest hadn't happened. Of course, then we have things like Pac-Man/Ocelot, and the surprisingly close Kefka/Vercetti.

Some other things to keep in mind: Lavos performed pretty poorly, as did Liquid Snake against Sephy. In the meantime, Robotnik performed quite well (and I'm 99% convinced that he was SFF'd by Ganon). What happens next? Knuckles beat Magus!

Of course, Wily and Sigma were disappointments, yet Mega Man still beat Sonic. I'm surprised anyone picked Terra over Dante when Ultros performed poorly. Kuji proved how weak FFIX was, and Sora's enemy was in a tough battle with a joke character. And good grief, how could anyone have CJ over Ness when Officer Tenpenny came in dead last?!

Anyway, let's just hope we have a female character battle in the spring to see what's in store for us in 2k6.

HOPEFULLY female character? Dear God no. That'd be an awful contest to watch, for the same reasons as the villain contest (although something can be done about the terrible bracketmaking, and CJay showed us just that last summer).

Yeah, that was fun... except for him tossing who was my favorite character at the time out of the tournament.

But seriously, I'll pass up on another tournament of fodder beating on fodder. Hell, EGGMAN turned out to be totally worthless. One of the most legendary villains of all gaming for God's sake.

Well, he's one of the more infamous losers in gaming. Robotnik isn't even really all that likeable in the first place.

Besides, a females contest might be the only chance I have of seeing Presea...

I think that Eggman's actually underrated. I'm no fan of the Xstats, but if you can look at them, you can tell that something's wrong. According to the Xstats, Ramirez is stronger than Kuja.

That can't be right. Ramirez : Vyse as Kuja : Vivi, correct? Vyse got blown out by Donkey Kong, while the following year, Vivi beat DK quite handily. So why is Kuja so far below Ramirez? The answer lies within Robotnik/Ganondorf.

The Villains Contest never seemed like much to me other than to give an excuse to put Sephy up as a paper champion, I'm not exactly sure if Ceej has that same incentive with the Females Contest. Of course, if he's a stat fanboy and assumes that no other character besides Clinkeroth and Mario can beat Samus, he could certainly do it in the hopes of making an even ToC.

But that would be weird.
From: mr_BRIAN | Posted: 12/8/2005 7:05:59 PM | Message Detail
Vyse : Ramirez :: Zidane : Kuja seems more realistic.

Eh, I'd have taken Zidane over Vyse, even before his 2k5 performance against Tifa. Quite easily, too.
From: Slowflake | Posted: 12/8/2005 7:08:38 PM | Message Detail
I don't want another ToC, what a female contest and the inevitable Samus win will inevitably lead into. One ToC was nice enough, but another one and I'll just stop caring. Sephiroth and Mario are paper champions, they have no credibility as such, they were never THE character at any point in time.

If Twilight Princess is released before the contest, I wouldn't give Samus the guaranteed win. Metroid Prime Hunters will probably not be a legendary title, and Zelda came dangerously close to Snake this year. Plus with all the FFVII spin-offs coming out, Aeris and Tifa could prove to be problems as well.

From: Slowflake | Posted: 12/8/2005 7:16:39 PM | Message Detail
You call 54% dangerously close?

Besides, Samus has such a gigantic headstart no FF7 spinoff or Twilight Princess will do anything about it. They'd all need bigger boosts than the one Sephiroth got between 2002 and 2003 for crying out loud. Not happening.

Q: Why was Chris Benoit kicked out of the gas station?

From: Karma Hunter | Posted: 12/8/2005 7:17:46 PM | Message Detail
I wouldn't even think of putting Zelda over Snake after TP, let alone over Samus. As for Tifa and Aeris, I see them as relatively around the same strength, and Tifa got owned by Sonic, who was bent over backward by Samus not two years ago. A stronger Sonic than then, sure, but they're so far apart that it's not even worth considering. AC can't make up that kind of a difference.
From: Karma Hunter | Posted: 12/8/2005 7:20:22 PM | Message Detail
Actually, thinking about it, the question to ask is...could any character break 40% on Samus in a Females Contest? She could potentially dominate more than Sephiroth did...which is disturbing.
From: Big Bob | Posted: 12/8/2005 7:21:38 PM | Message Detail
Kingdom Hearts alone propelled Cloud past Link. And that was also post-Wind Waker link. Samus has got nothing major coming out in the next year.

And I actually expected Snake to beat Zelda a little harder than that. Sue me. :P

All signs from the Summer show that Sephiroth should've broken 60% on both Bowser and Ganon in the Spring (you can chalk it up to Advent Children, I guess), but that didn't happen either. I think Tifa or Aeris ultimately would.

Zelda over Solid after LoZ:TP will be a realistic upset...but not anything set in stone, for sure, especially if MGS4 is out around then (where it's then pretty much shot down). Zelda over Samus simply isn't happening.

40% on Samus? Zelda, Tifa and Aeris all have a chance, and statistically speaking it's just about what they'd get (that means it's a coin toss, unless we get overperformances à la Bowser/Ganondorf). That's it.
