Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 271
From: SephirothG | Posted: 11/9/2005 12:49:52 PM | Message Detail
Anyway, this is all speculative. We really have no idea about the range of MGS villain strength, sans a marred match with Ocelot in the summer.

Going by the assumption that Frog 2k5 = Liquid 2k5, Liquid is still underrated by the Villains Contest. At least, as long as you adjust Samus reasonably.

Gimme Meryl, though The Boss or Sniper Wolf stands a shot.

Rose can join the ranks of Solano for all I care though.

Serious Reminder: Nominate Jay Solano for 2k6.
Why? Good question...just do it and nobody gets hurt.

The Boss stands a decent shot at challenging Meryl now, but after MGS4 it'll be no contest for Meryl.

Nastasha and her amazing accent own any of the other mgs females listed.

And as for potential strength newcomers:
Princess Peach/C. Falcon could both be decent enough.
erm..um...
we need a new successful series not based on sports or a movie?

Personally I think all MGS characters not named Ocelot or have Snake in their name would perform at around Big Boss' level.

So I've finally decided to get off my lazy ass and start updating my site. First I'll update the bios currently there, then I'll add in the characters that are missing. Hopefully I'll have enough free time to get all the missing bios in there before the next contest starts.

I also need to update those lists I have posted over on RPGDL, though that should only take around a week.

i wonder how powerful mewtwo would prove to be.
blue dragon may produce a character at kratos level and the new perfect dark i suppose will boost joanna dark but i can't see much else in terms of new strength

Mewtwo will likely be very weak. Much stronger than Pikachu, but still very weak.

I suspect Max Payne's level, give or take a lil'. I doubt Mewtwo'd be much stronger now than Pikachu ever was, and Pika wasn't fodder-killer by any means.

Hmm. Considering Pikachu was behind double SFF in 2003 and Mario/Cloud 2002, I'm thinking he should already be around TLFKATVFL. Would Mewtwo do better? How am I supposed to know? Well, he has more appeal among non-Pokémon fans, that's for certain.

Q: Why was Chris Benoit kicked out of the gas station?
A: Because he was carrying matches.

My best guess for Pikachu is around 17%. I'm not sure if Mewtwo could be significantly stronger than that.

Crash is buried deep underground. Pikachu, while he does garner some hate, he'll garner plenty of the kiddy votes (who've probably never played a single Crash game anyways and are thus not wont to like him), and who knows, he might even take a bite out of the SSBM crowd. Heck, he's one of my favorites in SSBM - who doesn't love taunting the enemies with an endlessly annoying string of "Pika, Pika!!"s? I'd give Pikachu the win with 54%+.

Wrong topic...

...so, to make up for that: since we're talkin' about Pokemon, where would everyone think Ash would land? I've seriously never heard any talks of rallying or nominating him, nor have I ever heard debates over his strength.

I'm unsure if Ash is the main character of Red/Blue/Yellow. I personally think the main character in the game was the player (you could also call him Red), and Ash was a different version of that character.

I was of the opinion that the Red in GSC is the main guy in RBY. It certainly seems that way.

Regardless, Ash would absolutely suck it up big-time. Even Pokemon fans (such as myself) hate Ash.

Ash won't do well, first the show would kill him worse than Pikachu and second even though you can choose him as a name I think most people used their own name or made up something funny.

Red would beat Cid, neither of which I can see over Aeris, Tifa, or Vincent level. I'd guess him at...Tidus level? Maybe? Doesn't really matter, too many FFVII characters in this thing. If we have to have another one I'd want it to be Barret, but I'd rather leave them all alone.
From: HaRRicH | Posted: 11/11/2005 9:13:05 AM | Message Detail
Red XIII > Cid, I would think, though Cid would get my vote. Tidus level or maybe a lil' higher sounds good though.

Nice work, Ulti. Just pickin' at one thing:

The funniest thing of all is that no one has ever broken 60% on Gordon. Not once.

I personally find it more amusing that his worst loss is against Tina Armstrong, but that's just me.
