To bring up an old argument about the LoZ Collection bringing a whole bunch of new fans to the series, thus being the reason why Link boosted in 2k4. <_<

Reminds me of that one sig, it went like this:

Fatman: At the touch of this button, everyone who's bought an X-Box will die!
Snake: Oh noes! Ten people will die!

Of course, that was way back when X-Box was dead last, though the "Halo/Off" joke still stands today.

Also, don't forget that you don't have to haven necessarily beaten it to have liked Link, and there's still 15% up for grabs. Furthermore, it was both the original and MQ that came packaged together, and I'd say new-comers to the game picked the original one first...so it wouldn't be unreasonable to think there could be a deceptive number of people who had put down they played both games on the GC port-n-remake.

I still say it's more of a population shift, and that if FF12 or a huge RPG came out the month of the contest that it would help Cloud more than the collector's disk would help Link.

I'm fairly sure that the 15% who haven't beaten it probably have the same ratio of Original:LoZ Collection as those who have beaten it. As for MQ, it wasn't packaged with the Cube like LoZ Collection. Those were for pre-sales of WW. And I'm fairly sure that most of the people that pre-ordered WW probably played OoT before, judging by today's percentages. Anyways it's a moot point. I was just bringing up old debates.

As for Perfect Dark, I bought the game, deleted all of the files on the disk (which might have been bad, seeing as I have to play it myself to have a complete game). I started the first level and then got lost when I turned off the light. <_< I played it again, and ended up killing that lady in the office. I need to get motivated to really play the game...

I wouldn't be surprised about that, either. I still don't think what the GC versions did should be ignored yet though...besides, on LoZ:CE, there were other games packed in too. I would think it'd improve the playership (is that a word? Heh) of LoZ:MM than LoZ:OoT, for example, and I think there were four games on it.

The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II : Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda : Majora's Mask, and a demo of the Wind Waker -- along with trailers of various games and a Zelda retrospective -- were all on the disk.

Just to clarify. Yeah.

I was under the impression that if there was a list, it would be revealed with the announcement of the winners, as the main reason to release the list is to figure out scoring...

Now that I think about it, I've only played it twice. O____O I guess I played it so much that I never really needed multiple playthroughs.

I played it once straight through, then I replayed it, full leveled with all the sidequests done. Those are the only two complete playthroughs I've done, although I always pick it up and play it at various saves, particularly the end.

Not too bad. Each Zelda I expected to make the list made it. The problem being I didn't see The Wind Waker being so damn low.

okay, my semi-organized thoughts:

I thought SA and VC would steal votes from each other... III ended up outranking VC. I was wrong on that.

some cult games did pretty nice.. Xenogears at 32, Earthbound at 37, etc. Xenogears outranked FF9, nice.

SMB1 outranked World. shocking. I thought World was being overrated, but not that overrated.

remember when I asked what was stronger, WW or MM? yeah, there's still no answer to that one. Zelda 1 is stronger than both though, something that makes me smile.

and, as far as I can tell, Halo 2 at #85 is the only non-list game. I don't even see a Mega Man, and Sonic 2 got #38. ouch.
