The whole point is to get him in and then not vote for him. We care about him solely so we can have someone that Tanner would blow out -- that means voting for Jay Solano is actually like voting against Jay Solano (or voting for Tanner by proxy). Besides, there's only ~70 people on the board that know who he is, and even Tanner managed ~4500 votes against Snake. It wouldn't make that much of a difference.

Could Snake get 95% on Jay Solano? I don't know...I feel Snake's a tad too high as a N9 to really give Jay Solano the beating and embarassment you all seem to be hoping for.

I think Bowser's the best choice by far to get this operation done, and I think the chances for him are realistic. He could indeed put a beating that would easily put Jay Solano under Tanner if given the chance, because I think as a Nintendo character, he'll usually be voted for over a N-Gage character. I mean, Mario's arch villian, or anything from N-Gage? Look at Guybrush. Totally quadroupled, and only avoided getting quintupled by 1529 votes. Ness? Oh noes, Bowser FTW with SFF, and leaving Ness tripled thanks to it. Yes, he has the required credentials!

It's true Snake easily outranks Bowser (upset hype LOLZ!), but I don't know if he'll get the unanimous appeal since he's not a character from either Square or Nintendo. Yeah, sounds a bit distorted, doesn't it? It's true the highest seed Bowser can get is a 3, which puts a lot of pressure on Jay Solano to come through. However, with all the potential hype, I think it's possible to get Jay Solano a 14th at max. Yeah, I like where this can go. We just need as many nominations as possible. I mean, about 60 members for the army already and we have 9 to 10 months.

Yeah, this is going to take a lot of faith and believing.
Let's do it. :-) I'm going to sig him for now. How does it look?

Kerrigan was uber-fodder, probably got in on board nominations alone, and got the equivalent of a 7-seed in a 4x16 format. There's a chance for Jay Solano to go somewhere.

Heh, just as a funny thought, imagine this scenario: the contest starts on July 1st (like it did for two years), and we use the 8x8 bracket-format again (like this year). Jay gets to be a 7-seed in the first division...Jay, being an army character, would be gettin' his match on the 4th of July. Add to it possible 2-seeds like MC or Squall (or MGS1/2 Revolver, if you fancy), and Jay could actually surprise...

Even with that adjustment, Dante still goes up quite a bit. Not anywhere near what Kirby did, but he still goes into new territory.

*Shrugs* He's high elite in my book. He did really well against Snake. Hell, he was probably did the best out of all the hypemen (characters people thought would pull a N9 upset) Who would you put above Bowser before the Noble Nine? I'd only offer Vincent.

Ness and Guybrush wanna talk to you. They wanna know why Guybrush was almost quintupled and Ness tripled, and they won't take anti-votes for answer if that wasn't enough to keep them out of such a big hole.

And I think I'll say that it was because Bowser is the main villian of the best series Nintendo has. Samus got shown that the hardway from Mario.

I'd like to show you something about the Guybrush thing:

--In 2004, in a match with about 74,000 votes, Guybrush got 17.01% against Bowser.
--Two days later, in a match that got about 85,000 votes, Earthworm Jim got 17.02% against Mega Man.

I'm far more impressed by Mega Man's decimation of EWJ than Bowser's of Guybrush.

Well, Cloud's was smaller than Vincent's pretty much no matter what you assume. The stronger Link is, the stronger Vincent is by reflection. And Sephiroth's gain was obviously bigger than Cloud's as well, considering how the gap between them has closed since last contest, and even last year.

Let me copy-paste the tail end of my PCA to see what the stats topic thinks about it....

The (lol) Extrapolated Standings

I did something a bit different this contest. I took creativename's numbers, but actually bothered getting off my lazy ass and made some adjustments to them. Normally I just do a copy-paste job on cn's numbers and leave it at that.

I also made a vain attempt at putting ranges into these stats. Note that the numbers on the left are my version of the 2005 Xsts, while the numbers on the right are ranges based off of creativename's numbers, specifically Base Link. I cannot stress this enough, because this might look a bit weird in some cases if you forget to note this. Also note that the contests in parenthesis are Base Link Xst values that I threw out out of feeling that the numbers are not valid. It'll make sense in some cases and no sense in others, so feel free to ask questions if you're confused about anything or if you want to tell me that I'm an idiot for not considering a Summer 2005 value to be very valid once the time comes <3

By the way, this is the first time I've ever bothered making adjustments and to my knowledge no one has ever bothered with ranges. If you see anything that's odd, feel free to yell.

And awaaaay we go....
