"Snake! You can't do that! The future will be changed! You created a time paradox!"

Man, I am lovin' MGS3 when I shouldn't be, heh. The game's makin' me entirely too tense though, much moreso than the first two, and I dunno how much I like that.

If it would be released on the Xbox, I woulda got that instead. As is though, I got no problem paying $10 for a used copy of it for my room-mate's PS2.

That's what I did for MGS2, although I bought it for $20 a year after it was out, rather than $5 now, even though I only got to it this year. The only reason why I'm just waiting out for Subsistence is for the included MSX versions of MG and MG2.

Since Leonhart has gone AWOL, I'm hoping someone else will be willing to write PCA analyses for me on rather short notice.

I need Samus/Frog, Ganon/Auron and Alucard/Sora. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to bother, and should anyone do this just e-mail the writeups to me at Ultimaterizer@gmail.com as an attachment.

They don't have to be done by tomorrow or anything, but do know that I plan on finishing the first round tonight and will likely be up to Samus/Frog soon. I guess I'll set Wednesay as the time limit before I do the missing writeups myself.

Which I have no issue with, but I'd rather someone that actually saw the match and any big events to comment on the match and hype rather than me simply rattling of filler after looking at the updater.

You should just write like two lines for Samus/Frog, cause that match was pretty dull. All it did was prove a CT decrease and that uhh....Frog's strength was overestimated >_>

I'll write-up Sora/Alucard. It's much more entertaining to write for than the boring Zero/Lloyd matchup. I initially wanted to do Ryu/Bowser as well, but I missed the actual match due to Hurricane Katrina. I could have done a lot more with that match.

Sora/Alucard is a nice consolation though. =P

Goin' to bed now...if no one takes up Samus/Frog by the time I get out of classes tomorrow though, I figure I'll write that one too; I'd hate to see a hold-up on some of the most interesting matches of the contest due to that ****-brick of a match.

Okay, so didn't want to say anything when people were making/predicting/discussing game brackets but the inclusion of WoW bothered me, and the degree to which people expected it to be poweful was distrubing. Now you have this, which says nearly 60% of GF has never saw fit to pay for an online game. And that's any game, let alone WoW. Even if you expect people who only played free trials to fit in that catagory I'm going to have to say far less than half have even played WoW, and those who wouldn't pay for it obviously don't regard it that highly. Not a pony to put your money on.

I think people give WOW the love because they expect it to be spammed all over the place, which is a possibility. I don't think it'd be that, that, that strong, but I didn't think Starcraft would be, either.

I don't think it'd be that strong, but I wouldn't doubt it getting in... though you have to remember these polls don't even come close to the vote totals of a contest match, but I'd still say it's a damn good indicator that it'd be weak.

---

If it got the spamming people feared it would get, it'd be a powerhouse to be very feared...I, however, question it'd get that kind of spamming.

Then again though, saying that same thing to justify Ridley in the Final Four instead of Diablo cost me a perfect bracket.....

I doubt WoW would be very strong, simply because the people who play MMORPGs don't care about anything but playing MMORPGs. Getting one of them off the game for even five seconds to vote on a website would be like pulling teeth.

Huh? This poll is really impressive for WoW. In the RO poll, only 2.5% of voters played it, and they were able to get it to the number one FAQ. A game that can get 13% must be very strong indeed.

True. I almost forgot I have Xbox Live. After the debacle that is Conker: Live & Reloaded, I barely touch it. I guess I'm just not really into online gaming. Sports games? I pass. Halo 2? I pass. Conker? Meh. I might give SFAC a chance, but I don't know how well I will adapt to using an XBox controller for a Street Fighter game. I'm just so used to the PS2 controller for those games.

Oh yeah, I'm working on Sora/Alucard right now. I'll be sending it within the hour.

I think World of Warcraft would be very strong. Diablo proved to have strength when he was in the villains contest despite the fact that he's from a PC RPG (and in an ensemble cast as well). What's stopping WoW from doing the same?

Meh, he wasn't a big deal, really. Besides, even if WoW was as good in a sprign contest as Diablo was in a summer contest it'd only barely make it to round two.

Don't relax, stats fans. There's still work to do.

Mainly, study every last poll of the day at every second to determine the demographics of each individual voting frame (day vote, night vote, etc.) and to study long-term shifts in favoritism.

Is anyone up to this great task?

From: Slowflake | Posted: 10/4/2005 6:01:41 AM | Message Detail
What does Ganondorf have to do with anything?

Two ways: Slap Ocelot's spring value in there, and calculate Pac-Man from there (BAD IDEA), or run off the assumption Bowser would beat Ocelot with the same margin as this spring, apply the results of that match to find Ocelot's ranking (much better, though this still puts Pac-Man crazy high). I did the latter, but with Kefka/Pac-Man instead.
