Ifnkovhgroghprm was never meant to be weaker than Tanner. People are
mainly nominating him because they want to see "Ifnkovhgroghprm" as a
poll choice. Anyway, the same holds true for that face shot of Solano.
If he wants any chance to be more pathetic than Tanner, he'll need that
crappy gameplay pic.

I bet Ifnkovhgroghprm would get 10% just on the name alone. JS, on the
other hand, is generic as hell. too bad he'd never make the sprite
round.

Leonhart: Remember when you said you'd write those three analyses I'm
missing? I don't ever remember you actually sending them to me, or I
just plain deleted it by accident while cleaning out my inbox. Do you
still have them saved, by chance? I'm getting close to being done the
first round.

FYI, the infamous GFA is having a tag-team character contest sometime,
and nominations are open now. You're allowed twenty, so we may want to
nominate some snubs (and Jay Solano from Operation Shadow, ahem) so we
can get a tiny idea of what they can do.
GFA is a hhoorrrriibbllee focus group, heh, and I oh-so doubt CJay'll have a tag-team tournament next summer...but it's all we got until next year.

nah, JS would get some joke/antivotes since GFA tournaments are all
about jokes. I mean, did you see the x-stats I did on their bracket?
those things are whack and not even close to a normal population.

Well aware (seeing CATS tie with Sonic is more than enough to confirm
that, and alot of my nominations are joke-nominations), but, again,
it's all we got right now. Figured I'd throw it out there for those

On a totally unrelated note... has anyone here played the demo for
Pokemon XD? It actually looks pretty decent. I might even pick it up
one day when I'm extremely bored... With all the delays, there aren't
many games I'm waiting on this year besides the 2 Castlevania games,
MMX Collection, and Shadow the Hedgehog...

With a trailer that awful? There's no chance it'll stand up to Harry Potter, let alone the true greats like Star Wars and Sin City. Sure, I'll probably see it some time in the next week, but my expectations are far from high.

Well, Goblet of Fire should be good, yes... but I'd rank it behind
Serenity. There hasn't been a good Star Wars movie since Jedi, though,
so don't bother going there. But yeah, I should see Sin City, I doubt
I'd take it over Goblet of Fire (and I'm not a huge HP fan by any
means) let alone Serenity, but whatever. The trailer might not have
been good, but that's far from indicative of the whole. Seriously, the
cover of every Harry Potter book looks like crap but millions of people
love them, right? There's an old saying, I'm sure you know what it is
and I'm sure you know how it applies here.
Oh, and you don't have to see Firefly to watch Serenity. Sure, it gives you a lot of background, but it's not necessary.

Imagine a CATS/Solano team there. That'd be the favorite of the contest, heh.
I hope that, if he makes it in, he actually gets a respectable-yet-ultimately-apathetic partner...Agent 47 comes to mind, though I'd be surprised to see him in their contest this time.

oh man, this cracked me up.
Huh? Why's that? I don't think I've ever seen a 10/10 movie that had an awful trailer, and HP4's lookin' awesome. I didn't like the first three movies much, but I have high hopes for GoF. If you're laughing because I liked Star Wars and Sin City, I don't understand that either. Sure, RotS failed to live up to its potential, and was nowhere near as good as Stover's brilliant novelization, but it had kickass fight scens, and that's enough to make an incredible movie. Sin City's my second favorite movie ever, so it would take a lot to beat that, and I just don't see Serenity doing it.
Oh, and you don't have to see Firefly to watch Serenity. Sure, it gives you a lot of background, but it's not necessary.
Heh, I haven't seen Firefly, and I am planning on watching Serenity, so there you go.
And...you haven't watched Sin City? I think you have a new number one priority, Chichiri. It's seriously incredible, and there's never been a better time to rent it.

Never been a better time...? I just watched ep 27 of Great Teacher
Onizuka and I'm super hooked on it. I've got another 16 eps to go.
That said, Sith was a bad movie. It just didn't do justice to the series at all. Eps 1-3 were all bad, and if you like Sci-Fi Serenity should be right up your alley. I'd have watched all of Firefly in a single sitting if I'd have had the time, and I've seen it beginning to end (including the unaired eps, thank god for dvds) twice. If the movie is half as good as the TV show it should be an instant classic. At least it won't let down all the hopes of an entire legacy.
Besides, if you'd have seen the TV series (yes, you should see it before Serenity even though you don't have to) you'd have been hyped to see that trailer. Seriously, the characters have this dynamic to them that's unbelievable. Sure, there will be some butt kicking scenes, but anyone who watches this should be in it for the characters and the trials they go through, not for special effects and fight scenes. That's not really what it's about, and with the fact that all of those special effects seem to take away from the movies nowadays (see: Star Wars ep 1-3) it should be a good change of pace.

Well, I don't watch much TV, which is part of why I never watched Firefly. Maybe I'll try renting it some time.
And I don't get how you can even compare Sith to the first two episodes...it was just so much better, and better than episode 4 as well. I don't get why you'd say that special effects make a movie bad, they're just there to aid in the suspension of disbelief.

I don't watch much TV either, which is why I didn't know about Firefly
until after it was canceled. I saw it on DVD and it's some sort of
awesome. Most of the best eps on the DVDs are on disc 3, though, so you
do have to sit through some of the less than awesome eps to get to the
good stuff. Course with a movie that's not the case, so Serenity shoul
dbe top notch.
Sith wasn't much better than Menace or Clones, and I wouldn't put it ahead of Hope, though close. Still, there was a lot to live up to and Sith just couldn't do it.
As far as my feeligns on the effects, well... I felt the same way with early FMV, they use it as a crutch to hold them up where otherwise they are weak. The original trilogy didn't have that going for them, they had to make the much better of a movie because they didn't have them and they did. At this point they just figure the special effects will keep people in awe and they won't care that the movie is actually pretty bad.
On the other hand there are movies like the LotR trilogy where I don't think the special effects take away from anything at all. They had all that tech and all that money and they made the movie all the much better because they didn't skimp on the basics, either.

...you just named two bad movies that are neither fun nor great (or even good). Fun movies are great. If a movie entertains, then that's enough. See: Army of Darkness, Spaceballs, etc. Of course, there are plenty of great movies that aren't fun, but being fun does make a movie great.
I'm no movie geek, but I know bad acting when I see it and it takes away from the movie.
Where's the bad acting in Sith? Most professional reviews praised its acting, particularly that of Ian McDiarmid, and I'd think that the professionals would be better at evaluating such a thing than you.

What I got from that review:
Hayden was a bad actor in ep 2, worse than in ep 3
Grievous had a bad voice actor (definitely agreed there)
Hayden/Natalie had bad dialogue, largely the fault of the script
Good acting in Obi/Anakin fight
I still don't know what you're talking about. Check out rottentomatoes if you want to find something by the way, it's very useful.

that link is from the first review on rottentomatoes. when the main
character of the movie is called a bad actor, I'd say it's bad acting.
is it worse than 2? that's not the point, because they're both bad.

Since when has a movie needed to be anything more than fun to be great?
It depends on your standard of "great." Some people go to movies solely to be entertained. Some people want a more cerebral, intellectual experience. Since my family wants the former and I want the latter, it tends to make movie-watching rather difficult (i.e. we don't do it).

It depends on your standard of "great." Some people go to movies solely to be entertained. Some people want a more cerebral, intellectual experience. Since my family wants the former and I want the latter, it tends to make movie-watching rather difficult (i.e. we don't do it).

I did a lil' research on Samus and found something I don't think has
been acknowledged yet (though I know we already have similar results to
this; I just don't think anybody's looked at it like this yet):
For those who think Cloud should be who we keep constant from last year, most of us think Samus is still at about her same strength as 2k4. If we carry over that same relationship (Samus got 40.99% on Cloud in 2k4), then you get this...
(based on Link 2k5)
4) Mario - 39.59%
5) Samus - 38.99%
6) Crono - 36.54%
...voila, it no longer has to be rSFF for those who refuse to buy such a thing. So then, comparing the Zebes Division to Link 2k5, you get this...
ZEBES DIVISION
1) Samus - 38.99% (gets 49.24% on Mario...supposedly)
2) Ganondorf - 31.46% (if no SFF in Samus/Ganon, gets 46.98% on Bowser)
3) Auron - 28.88% (if no SFF in Samus/Ganon, Ness might be at 20.19%)
4) Yuna - 24.41% (if no SFF in Samus/Ganon, gets 50.18% against Rikku)
5) Frog - 23.36% (which is about where MC's 2k3 value is, I think)
6) Riku - 22.58% (gets 47.96% against Sora)
7) Big Boss - 16.48% (if no SFF in Samus/Ganon, gets 63.53% on unadjusted Revolver)
8) Yuri Hyuga - 9.89% (still at the bottom of the bracket; loses to Manny with 45.87%)
...it's interesting.

excluding Ganon, those numbers look nice. I'd believe them fully if
Ganon was at, oh, 33% and Auron 30. I suppose you can blame SFF,
though. nice research.

Anyone who calls Citizen Kane a bad movie has no business discussing movies without expecting not to be taken seriously.

there were people laughing out loud when I saw ep3.. I can't believe
anyone would defend its acting. you don't need professionals to tell
you how good it is when you see stuff like that.

you lot talking movies without my knowledge?
i know much more about films then about games.
and who called citizen kane a bad movie? it made so much progress technically it moved everything faster and the story itself is very good.
star wars episode three is good. may not be the best star wars film and has too much corny dialogue that makes no sense to most people but it's more of a spectacle rather than a film.
wanna see a film of true cinema? go watch lawrence of arabia

a few weeks ago, I put 25.22 of gas in my car and said "Vivi!" after I realized what I had said, I punched myself.
Finally something to put in my quote ^_^

I went from 1st place to Last place on the Guru board, but Jman_gamerX8 still owned me in the end.

Anyone who calls Citizen Kane a bad movie has no business discussing movies without expecting not to be taken seriously.
First, everyone has different tastes in movies, just because a Citizen Kane is super popular doesn't mean everyone has to like it.
Second, I don't think it's bad, but it certainly wasn't great. It had a few good parts, but a lot of the time it was just too slow. I'd give it a 7/10.
Some people go to movies solely to be entertained. Some people want a more cerebral, intellectual experience. Since my family wants the former and I want the latter, it tends to make movie-watching rather difficult (i.e. we don't do it).
I go to movies for both. It's not fun to restrict yourself, IMO.
that link is from the first review on rottentomatoes. when the main character of the movie is called a bad actor, I'd say it's bad acting. is it worse than 2? that's not the point, because they're both bad.
...the reviewer says that he liked Episode 2 despite Hayden's bad acting in it. He doesn't really mention his acting in ep 3, other than saying that the romance scenes were awkward, and that his acting in the fight with Obi-Wan was great.
there were people laughing out loud when I saw ep3.. I can't believe anyone would defend its acting. you don't need professionals to tell you how good it is when you see stuff like that.
Hm, can't say the same for my theater. Everyone appreciated the movie, and it got a standing ovation at the end. I don't see how you can say definitively that RotS is a bad movie, especially considering the great reviews it got. I'm certainly not the only person who liked it, and there are plenty of people who like it more than I do. Sure, it had its problems, and it's certainly not one of the best movies ever, but it was still an awesome experience.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Bowser > Ganon myself (though I'd love to
see it happen), but I'm not a big fan of Jin > Big Boss, either.
Since they were both one-and-outs though, I can't really allow myself
to judge based on those two...nonetheless though, stats are the
damnedest things.

Goin' to class, but I'm gonna point out a match that looks awkwardly
lop-sided and that, despite the stats, I think most people'll disagree
with...
...Knuckles VS Auron, who wins?

For those who think Cloud should be who we keep constant from last year, most of us think Samus is still at about her same strength as 2k4. If we carry over that same relationship (Samus got 40.99% on Cloud in 2k4), then you get this...
(based on Link 2k5)
4) Mario - 39.59%
5) Samus - 38.99%
6) Crono - 36.54%
...voila, it no longer has to be rSFF for those who refuse to buy such a thing.
Good idea... except you TOTALLY plagiarized my idea of keeping the Link/Samus ratio constant from 2004 when we use Snake 2003 as base.
