It seems FF10 was absolutely HUGE in its first year, then just sorta vanished. Look at this: FF10 utterly destroys everything in the GotY poll despite it coming out two weeks before the end of the year, and subsequently loses to one of the aforementioned games it destroyed (SSBM) in the game contest. In favorite FF polls, FF10 beat FF6 soundly for second place early on, but nowadays it struggles to keep ahead of FF8. Tidus has an awesome match against Sonic in the first character battle, but after that not only does he not leap forward like every other FF character, but he actually loses ground. Looks like a strong, long-lived, but still colossal spike to me.

Still, Tidus is a whole lot more consistent than anyone here has given him credit for. At least Magus losing early was useful for that, I guess. If you want a character who just can't decide what color he'll wear on the day of the match, just look at Seph.

Knuckles is a good choice. Mega Man can blow people out, but he's too strong. example:

If Jay Solano receives a sufficient amount of nominations, I'd imagine that CJayC will either stick him in the draw or give us a reason as to why he wouldn't. Solano won't come close to winning a match anyway, and CJayC will obviously realize this, so a decent picture shouldn't be important.
