Explain to me the connection between CT characters and then someone who will be starring in his own game.

The fact that he is getting a starring role in a game seems to scream "large boost." I don't see how one could underestimate something like that, not to mention Kingdom Hearts II. We saw what it did for characters with starring roles in their own games, and you'd be willing to say Vincent couldn't beat all the characters up to Crono?

It's a fallacy to assume that something can't happen just because it hasn't yet. Other reasons are needed. Still sonic proved himself to clearly be on the same tier as megaman and crono this year. Besides, snake has come extremely close to losing to a non-noble niner before and sonic well... hasn't.

Alright, so Frog and Magus didn't get their own game. But DoC, a possible role in KH2, and a movie already leaked to half the internet isn't likely to boost Vincent up to Crono and Mario's level. The game would have to be godly on all levels for him to even challenge the lower of the Noble Nine.

Vincent hasn't been in a REAL game since FFVII (hell, has he even been in any game since then?) and look how he performed. A win over Squall and almost 45% on Crono. He's getting his own hyped up game. He may get a role in Kingdom Hearts 2. It's perfectly arguable to see Vincent as the guy who breaks the Noble Nine next year. In short, this is me agreeing with Heroic Mario. Weird stuff.

The same "optional hurts him" argument has been around since hk-47. He might have been barely above the fodder line, but I kept hearing people insist that being optional hurt him, and then the next year tuirn around and say being optional wouldn't hurt vincent even though he's harder to get then hk-47. That's what annoyed me about it.

I'll check up on that and see if I can put something together. The highest selling game of the generation was Super Mario 64, though. Goldeneye 007, Final Fantasy VII, and Ocarina of Time all within the top 5.

Top five sellers of last generation were Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, Ocarina of Time, and Pokemon Red/Blue. After that, Pokemon Gold/Silver.

FFVII may be #7, but I think Pokemon Stadium might've outsold it.

What the hell? Final Fantasy VII sold more than Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye. And these were purely N64 and PSX titles.
