Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 262
From: yoblazer33 | Posted: 9/21/2005 1:07:07 PM | Message Detail
So we're not impressed that Sephiroth is still pushing for 56% despite entering after school vote timeframe? I honestly don't see how that isn't really impressive, considering Mario's own villain did merely 4% worse, and based on Snake, Mario should be doing A LOT better than this.

Oh, I'm very impressed. It's just... boring.

A female contest would be better than the villain contest. We could actually see some good high tier matches like Zelda/Tifa.
From: transience | Posted: 9/21/2005 1:11:31 PM | Message Detail
Ganon/Seph and Bowser/Seph are just as good as Zelda/Tifa or Samus/Aeris. still highly boring.

Anyone talking bad about a female contest is so getting thrashed in my analysis.

Ugh, female Contest. Just skip to the Samus/Tifa finals already. And if Zelda wants a word with me, tell her I'm busy.

And this match is boring. It's like...the anti-Knuckles/Magus (and that's no good, folks).

RIP Samus: Mario, you better take down Seph.

How are Ganon/Seph and Bowser/Seph as good as Zelda/Tifa? I don't know how you can declare a winner for that match. Zelda has Twilight Princess with possibly her biggest role ever and Tifa has AC/Crisis Core.
From: transience | Posted: 9/21/2005 1:19:35 PM | Message Detail
you said high-tier matches. if you actually believe Tifa or Zelda could beat Samus, I will laugh heartily. Zelda/Tifa would be the equivalent of Bowser/Ganon.

So what if they're not high-tier? For crissakes, do we really need another contest where the males outnumber the females 60 to 4?

I ment that their above midcarders. It's better than seeing the fodder of the villain contest.

sure, if they're the strongest characters. there's more than four females in this year's bracket anyway.

I don't want to waste an entire contest just to see one match, especially when it can easily be set up as a second round match next year. We need another game contest this spring.

It's very boring, but you can't be surprised. This is just the "Look! Clinkeroth is in A contest!" bracket. Clinkeroth matches are usually very boring.

yoblazer is right, on both counts. I get the feeling that this may be our last character battle for a while, because that there game contest needs to happen.

So the strongest characters should be the only ones in the contest?

That makes lots of sense. Yeah, let's never have any new contestants, because they'll all be weak. I want to see Cloud, Link, Seph, Samus, Mario, Sonic MM, and Snake fight each other over and over and over until I die. At least they're strong.

There is one major drawback to a Spring 2006 Game Contest, however: Twilight Princess will likely get the shaft. Still, superior to a female character contest in every way.

if you can pick out 32 characters that are worth voting for, I'd be curious. also, it shouldn't be 25 Square characters.

I could pick out 132. Though I'm sure you'll like less than 5 of them.

and nor would anyone else. I like several female characters (hi there, Samus, Tifa, Aeris among several others), but that doesn't mean I want to have a contest restricted to just them. this goes for villains, males, monsters, transexuals, anything. there's no reason to keep characters out of a character battle.

There are plenty of females worth having in a contest. Hell, there are more than just a few in this contest that obviously have someone interested. Making a 32 character females bracket isn't hard, and you'd end up with more characters above the fodderline than the villains contest to boot.

The votals in the spring contest weren't that great after the site layout changed. But it would still be fun to see, and I wouldn't mind a one year break from the Character Battle.

yeah, I just looked and you're right. I guess the starcraft matches made me think it happened for the whole contest.

still though, it was in the Spring. in the Summer, who knows how high they could be. I think there's more interest in a game contest than there is a character contest, especially since these have been done five times already, four if you don't count the villain contest.

A game contest would own the crap out of an All Female Contests in every single way. AFC(All female contests) IMO will be supremely boring as to a game contest without era rules and such that would own oh so much!

I would not want a female contest next spring, When Samus wins, That just gives Crono a free ride through the Summer Contest. If theres no Spring Contest its at least up in the air between Samus and Crono in the Summer.

Who says there will be another ToC? An all female contest could just be for show purposes, not for taking a character out of the bracket. Besides, if there was a ToC I doubt ceej would need to take Samus out since most people won't think she's a threat after her loss to Mario.
