I'm willing to bet that Mario will make it closer. For heaven's sake, the guy lost the board vote! This is just FFVII bringing its A game early. In about 15 hours, this match will look very respectable.

I'm hoping this one turns out Link Mario/Cloud. Mario goes down by 1000, then comes back and pulls off a miracle.

Mario losing the board vote speaks *horribly* for his chances later on in the match. I'm starting to think that of the two possible scenarios for Link/Cloud, the latter was the more likely result...

Sephiroth's lead up to 140. No problem.

63.77% of people picked Link to beat Cloud? Holy freakin' hell.

It was obvious. >_>

Fact or fiction:

2) The Spring contest wasn't a reliable source since many of the votes were either substitiution votes or anti-votes.

Intersting match today. Regardless of any other picks, everybody had Link vs Cloud(and one of the 2s even got the match "right"). Link was heavily favoured by the top tiers and bottom tiers(who anti-picked him to attempt to get a score of 0.) The prediction percentages in the top tiers ranged from the low-70s to low-80s. Cloud wasn't really favoured over Link in any significant way. Almost every group attempting for a high score had a prediction percentage above 50 with the mid-tiers closer to 50 than the top and bottom tiers.

12 people fell off the Top 50. SirBormun, Nerim, Dark115, link2k1, s0berer, ShadowCrono, Lokilus, Mom84, ExThaNemesis, SecksThaNemesis, Dadge86 and imp9824 didn't have Link winning over Cloud. It really must suck to be in contention for prizes after the main bracket only to lose it during the ToC.

oh, I'm very used to it, it's just the idea of him being Heroic and being, well, Mario. we should just ditch calling him HM, because he's clearly not HM anymore.

Heh, of course I knew how inappropriate the Mario part was, but the Heroic part not applying either for this match never occurred to me.

HM, perhaps you should choose a new "official" moniker for yourself? :) I'm sure you could have some fun with that.

Know what this means? In six contests, one Board 8 reg has managed to finish in first place. One.

...why is Mario doing worse than Bowser?

I really think it's because Sephiroth's a big-name draw, and he's been sorely absent from the contest thus far. It could be voters are chompin' at the bit to see ol' Sephy once again.

Plus, Bowser rawks Mario's face OLD-SCHOOL, baybee.

Tournament of Champions, huh? Hey, it's Mario. How much of a hoot would it be to beat him worse than I beat Bowser?

you know, this match is reminding me why we have the term "Clinkeroth". two months of hard work owning the main bracket and Sephiroth is treating him like the Midgar Zolom.

If I didn't have a Guru signature coming up, that would SO be in mine right now. =p

Jeez, Mario. I can't understand why he's doing this much worse than Bowser was.

But I think I was right... Bowser and Ganondorf did way better than they should have because of people getting pissed that the leaderboard had 48 Sephiroths.

Raiden fact of the contest: Jman_gamerX8 puts not only Lopen's bracket making skills to shame, but also Raiden's... unheard of!

I'm assuming the two guys tied for first will get the next two matches right.

Know what this means? In six contests, one Board 8 reg has managed to finish in first place. One.

Live by the board, die by the board.

If two guys tied/ahead of me can get Link/Cloud wrong, one of them being a bit of a Board 8 reg himself, I can see these three in front of me now getting at least this one wrong. I mean, face it. The way this contest has been, all you'd have to do is go Nintendo if there's any real doubt.

This is the first time Mario's really been challanged the entire contest. If, by rare chance, they all get it wrong, I win. And you know what that means.

Oh noes. Your ranks have been teh breached.

Sephiroth continuing to kick Mario's ass by taking nearly 60% of the vote that update and stretching his lead out to 363.

With that, I'm off to sleep. The One Winged Angel should keep this up for a long, long time. Watch out, Link! =p

Seriously. 60% 5 minute updates? Sephiroth, you're not facing Bowser, you're facing Mario. Please remember that.

Sephiroth exposing Mario for the fraud of a "Champion" he is.

(not like Seph is a real champion either, but at least he's in the discussion)

hey, Seph actually lost some percentage there.

I don't think this is going to stay this way, but just for fun.. Seph is currently at 46.78% of 2k3 Link. that's almost a 4% jump on his least squares number from the spring if I remember right.
