At 117532, this match is 9th is all time total votes. It should easily pass by 8th place (Mega Man vs Snake 2k3 118961 total votes) but won't make it to 7th (Sephiroth vs Mario 2k3 123587 total votes). It seems to be just off pace for 120k. Compared to the other matches this year, this vote total is just awesome. But as said before, considering this is Link and Cloud going at it, it's not so great.

We *need* Link and Cloud in the main bracket next year. Give them a few byes to later rounds if we must, but it seems that the anticipation for this match may factor into the votals more than we may have thought.

Also, this match only makes Devil Division what it was before--a thumbprint. If Link had kicked Cloud's ass to hell and back with 55% like some people were unrealistically calling for (cough), then it would be pretty obvious nothing significantly AC related happened in Crono/Vincent. If Cloud had actually WON, or even won decisively, then a pointing to AC would be obvious by now.

But now it's impossible to say either way. If Link didn't get his hands on the Nintendo boost and Cloud didn't boost from AC, then this is potentially just standard variation. If Link boosted significantly from the Nintendo boost, then Cloud's keeping pace magnificently. Fact is, only one more person's going to get his ass kicked by Link this year--and he's going to be following the same trends for boosts and drops as Cloud. Not to mention that measuring through him has never produced the most consistent of results..
