...This match is nothing like Mario/Crono... at all. And you should fear about getting attacked for saying that, it's just ridiculously stupid.

XD, did you just make a threat, HM?

That's ****ing delicious.

Okay, so Link has an even LARGER lead on Cloud than he did last year at this point. That's being chalked up to the morning vote. Link is expected to have an even LARGER surge than last year due to the "after-school" vote.

Yet Cloud is supposed to be gaining on him sometime soon and potentially take the match?

...This match is nothing like Mario/Crono... at all. And you should fear about getting attacked for saying that, it's just ridiculously stupid. Everyone knew, even before the match started, that Link's two biggest times were going to be now and the afterschool vote.

And he's making quick use of them.

The fact that he's doing this now shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Yes, it would have been nice if Cloud could have managed to get a 300 vote lead or so last night in order to make Link's lead smaller, but by no means is that going to kill.

True

Cloud has to weather the storm right now and then use the time in between the morning and afternoon vote (day vote) in order to get this thing back down to a more reasonable level in preparation for the afterschool vote.

By the time the morning vote is over Link should have at least a 800 vote lead. It not like Cloud is going to crush Link with the day vote and the best I think he can do is stall him and take out 200-300 votes

Hell, I would even say that he'll take the lead and gather something small before it arrives. After that, he'll rely on the night vote to either win this or fall short. But by no means is this thing over. Calling it now was just as foolish as saying Link was going to get 55%.

Anything the day vote does Link will take back by the time the night vote comes Link's lead will probably be too big.

I...I thought we were all aware of how trends differed in school compared to weekends...

In any case, for all this arguing, I still very much doubt Cloud's ability to come back and make this close, much less win the match. Link's got this thing 95% in the bag, IMO. But when the other character has a 5% of coming back, I don't see the logic in calling the outcome of a match...which, reminding me, does what now?

Link will break 53% when the after school vote rolls around, and he'll be able to keep it over 52.5% until the end. Ulti's pick is pretty much out of the question, though. Meh, hopefully tomorrow's match will be more interesting.

It's really only HM. He'd still think Cloud had a chance if Link was winning 60-40 right now.

Frog/Liquid.

I called it for Frog

Magus/Knuckles

Calling it not predicting.

Probably Master Hand/Kuja, too.
I was sleeping while Kuja had the lead and it was 50/50 when I woke up. I later called it for MH.

...I can't believe that some actually still think that Cloud has a chance in this. This morning vote for Link is little compared to the afternoon vote Link will get.

Actually, looking at Mario, his morning and afterschool votes were extremely similar. Now, some of that is due to that he is far more comparatively worse with the first night vote than Link is, but the fact of the matter is that they're not that far apart.

I...I thought we were all aware of how trends differed in school compared to weekends...

We all know the trends on weekdays differ from weekends. But there's a difference in saying that Cloud will do better in between the morning and after-school vote rather than saying that Cloud WILL be taking the lead back from Link. I've never seen a weekend vote differ THAT much from a weekday vote.

But anyways, it remains to be seen. Right now, I have a tropical storm to outrun. I WILL be back on around 4:00 PM EST. HM had BETTER be right about this.

I'm 100% sure I didn't call it for LS, he took the lead at the morning and it was something like 200. I didn't call it for Frog until I got home from the beach. Frog/MC was a weird match, me like everyone in this topic probably called it for both characters at one point. Come on gaining after being down 2400 votes then make a 600 vote lead before losing it all by 7.

Well, I don't think Cloud will be taking the lead back from Link with the day vote...that's an extremely farfetched scenario IMO. But he *will* be cutting the lead, and at the absolute least stalling him. I'd be flabbergasted if he didn't.

Was I the only one who DID see that coming? Or was I the only one who understood the concept of the XBox demographic's afternoon vote? The only thing unexpected was that Chief was able to go 50/50 with Frog AFTER Frog came back at night. But that would most likely be attributed to mass vote stuffing.

Mario is legitimately stronger than Samus this year. I don't think you should adjust Samus to be over Mario.

And with that, I'm REALLY leaving to outrun this storm. I'm just letting it get close because I live life on the edge. <_<

Bull, the characters had been seen in action at LEAST once before, which is more than can be said for Frog/LS.

I knew MC would gain during the day, but there was no way he could've came back by that much that soon. Frog had the night vote, but he barely pulled it off from LS so I thought he wasn't that good compare to Crono and Magus

I used Crono and Magus for Frog and Snake for LS and both have similair voting patterns, but CT is stronger with the second night vote

Crono and Magus' voting patterns are about as different as night and day--literally. Crono is better at night, but very good in the day as well, while Magus absolutely stinks it up. It's like assuming Tifa would follow the trends of her FFVII brethren when it's nearly not the case. You had nothing to judge that match with, and if it had been held on a different day or if Liquid had started his final comeback a little earlier you would have been proven dead wrong. Which is basically the tale that can be told for most of the close matches that you've 'called'. I've 'called' matches like that as well (though never to the degree you do it), such as Sonic/Mega Man of this year. But even though Mega eventually pulled it out, I have not the gall nor the arrogance to justify that pick in retrospect. That match could have just as easily have gone to Sonic, and if it had I would have ended up with egg all over my face. Just because a pick works out barely doesn't mean that it's a justified one. Otherwise, we might as well call all the matches after the first 30 seconds of the poll.

I knew MC would gain during the day, but there was no way he could've came back by that much that soon. Frog had the night vote, but he barely pulled it off from LS so I thought he wasn't that good compare to Crono and Magus

Which was, again, appraising a character based on their performances with an unknown, which burned you. Twice.
