Not too much for Link that time, though I'm thinking that was just an anomaly.

And some folks on the board had the ******* temerity to call it at a 200 vote spread for Cloud. That ain't a steep hill for either of these monsters to climb.

Depending on how dire things get, I wouldn't call it in favor of Link or Cloud until late into the match, when the result's beyond all doubt. Cloud's not out by a long shot.

Only count him out once he gets said long shot thru the cheek. And Link would have to really, really break away for that to happen this early.

We're ahead of Snake/Zelda at the moment, but it's by an underwhelming amount...ick, that's the depressing thing about this match. I expected a bigger votal.

Oh, and Cloud is finally able to stall Link, he only gains a vote that update.

Link gains, but Cloud is still stalling. If this is more than an anomaly, then it's impressive, and Link could be in a lot of trouble.

Haha this is sweet. I bet Cloud is doing this just to spite people counting him out. <_<

But even if Cloud loses, this pretty much proves AC is having a decent influence and Sephiroth is gonna own Mario.

I'm looking at last years poll updates. Link exploded on Cloud with the morning vote and the day vote. Cloud was only able to slightly raise his percentage later on in the afternoon, and not significantly until well in the evening. He only began to gain on Link's lead in the second night vote.

well...day vote probably isn't going to overly favor Cloud...<

The day WILL favor Cloud and it isn't like he has to have it dominantly favor him either. This isn't a 1500+ deficit and building that he has to overcome. Cloud has done a damn fine job of holding Link down this far and if he can continue to do such he'll most definitely be in a good position to not allow this thing to be "over" for a long while. Calling it now is simply jumping the gun completely.

Sure, Cloud is good with the day vote.

however, he's up against Link who's a monster with it. He's not going to gain on Link any votes. At most, he'll snip a small percentage.

Ummm.... have you SEEN last year's poll update? Slightly raising your percentage by .5% in a near 50/50 match while your opponent builds a 4000+ vote lead is not what I call favoring... Especially when you did much better against said opponent during the first night vote.

Ummm.... have you SEEN last year's poll update?

Yeah, the one's where Link was so FAR better throughout the night, day, and even doing quite well into the second night. Link didn't really have any time of serious weakness. Crono held Mario to, what, a few updates last year? And we saw what Mario did yesterday. When the difference in strength is like that things are not always going to be what should usually happen. To add to that, Link/Cloud last year was a on weekend, not a weekday. Cloud WILL be able to get the day vote, considering he's far closer to Link and its a weekday, whereas Link will be able to get the after school vote in a fairly large manner. Then it turns into whether or not Cloud can use the night vote to bring the lead that Link will have built down.

There's simply no way, at all, that Link will continue to increase from now until the after school vote is ended. How one can believe that, I don't know. But hell, there were people expecting Link to just breeze through this match even easier than last year, so perhaps it isn't too surprising.

Oh and Cloud wins that update! Brings it down from 240 to 226.

Everyone in the damn world knew that Link would be gaining with the morning vote. This and the after school votes are going to be his biggest opportunities to gain something. Luckily, they also happen to be when the biggest "boom" happens in vote totals.

Looks like Cloud really needed his own AC juice to keep up with Link, and well, he's doing just that. Of course, we'll probably need to wait until tomorrow for the final verdict: Sephiroth brutalizing Mario would be a far bigger omen.

...yet didn't do good enough to take the lead during the night. This isn't Mario/Crono, this is Link/Cloud, and while I doubt Cloud's ability to come back as well, I'm not parading around any catcalls of 'it's over'. Yet you seem compelled to do that at the most inopportune times of every match.

This is going the way of Mario vs. Crono so I would like to say it's over, but I fear of getting attacked in this topic.

...This match is nothing like Mario/Crono... at all. And you should fear about getting attacked for saying that, it's just ridiculously stupid. Everyone knew, even before the match started, that Link's two biggest times were going to be now and the afterschool vote. The fact that he's doing this now shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Yes, it would have been nice if Cloud could have managed to get a 300 vote lead or so last night in order to make Link's lead smaller, but by no means is that going to kill.

Cloud has to weather the storm right now and then use the time in between the morning and afternoon vote (day vote) in order to get this thing back down to a more reasonable level in preparation for the afterschool vote. Hell, I would even say that he'll take the lead and gather something small before it arrives. After that, he'll rely on the night vote to either win this or fall short. But by no means is this thing over. Calling it now was just as foolish as saying Link was going to get 55%.

...yet didn't do good enough to take the lead during the night. This isn't Mario/Crono, this is Link/Cloud, and while I doubt Cloud's ability to come back as well,

Mario finished with 53.85% that's lots of room for Link to fit in there and still win. Right now Link is gaining madly.
