Nicely done, Mario, 54%.

*checks numbers*

We're going to need to roughly double the pace though to get to 60+%. Better pick it up.

As for adjustments, really, the only ones that should be made are Samus, Ness, and Yoshi. Sure, there are a few other things that look odd, such as the Dream and Devil divisions, but that should be up to each person to interpret that. There's no way to accurately adjust them.

How can we accurately adjust Pac-Man? Spring Ocelot is probably overrated, he was behind SFF maybe three times in 2004, and he was behind SFF again in 2003. The only sure data we have on him is 2002, and I sincerely hope that none of you are crazy enough to think that 3-year old stats are anything other than obsolete.

You could just, you know, not bother adjusting Samus. No one will agree on where she is "supposed" to be, anyway.

Wait until Mario/Sephiroth to adjust her. That match should give some sort of bearing on how accurate Spring Ganon was.

I'd place her at her 2k4 level myself. It seems the most logical place to put her as long as mario manages to rank ahead of it.

It's still in Japanese though. If I were a huge FFVII fan, I would want to wait until the English version to get the full effect. And the people that are downloading the movie now probably aren't light/casual fans

The people who have downloaded Advent Children are by no means "hardcore FFVII fans" like you might want to believe. The popularity of this expands far beyond the hardcore fanbase and that's just bloody apparent, regardless of what you want to believe. On Board 8 and off of Board 8 this thing is huge. On GameFAQs and off of GameFAQs this thing is huge. It has become FAR more popular than even I had anticipated. Nearly everywhere you go there's a large group of people who have seen the movie already. What's more, the vast majority of the people who have seen the movie like it, even those who are not huge FFVII fans.

To think it did very little to nothing, or denying the possibility, is one of the absurd and stupid things I have seen people do. It's ridiculous to think that this leak has done nothing, especially when the hints are obvious that it has had a big impact from being leaked. It ranks among GameSpot's Top 10 "Coming Soon" titles, was on the "Overall" Top 10, single handedly pushed Final Fantasy VII to number three on the Top FAQs, and was once among the Top 10 Most Wanted FAQs before CJayC removed it due to not being an actual game. Where, oh where, does any of this suggest that it has had a minimal effect? I really do not see how you could just push it aside like it did nothing.

Frankly, once the contest is over I plan on doing my own adjustments and keeping them nice and quiet until next year (when I'll do another preliminary adjustment based on what happened over the year). Frankly, when the time comes, it'll be nice for us to all have vastly different answers to the same questions.

Forgive me for asking, but didn't Wind Waker accomplish much of the same? And yet, we more or less agree that Wind Waker didn't do anything for Link, and that was a game released in English.

Kind of like we more or less agree that Samus did not receive any SFF against Link.

Yeah...but Wind Waker is Link's 12th game. It takes a lot more to increase popularity with such a wide fanbase.

As far as I know, it's just you and me that think 2k3 Link > 2k2 Link. If anything, most people go the other way.

Exactly, I don't believe TP did much of anything for Link. It was all ZCE...2.5-3 million copies with GCNs (far more than WW), and many of those were to non-Zelda fans. It was pretty much only Zelda fans who bought WW, since everyone was so turned off of it.

I think we've already chalked that up to being more about the Zelda Collectors disc packed in with about a million cubes.

...It being the general consensus does not make it correct. Hell, I don't see how someone could really believe that 2002 Link is equal to 2003 Link. But perhaps there aren't as many people who think that same way--I thought there were more people who didn't believe such a thing.

Not that it is surprisingly in the least, considering people thinking Link didn't SFF Samus.

Nah, there's more. Heck, I don't think Ulti buys it either, so if he'd push that hard enough I'm sure people would crawl out of the woodwork. Really, I don't think it's a sensible thing to assume, and I'm not sure why we ever did.

If anyone dares say that Samus wasn't SFFd by Link after Mario completely ***** slapped her (never mind her going DOWN after Metroid Prime, and anyone denying SFF after that fact in and of itself is just hilarious), my respect points for them go down to like 2 points. Seriously.

Thinking about it, Slowflake seems to be the only one who REALLY refuses to believe that SFF could have occurred in Link/Samus and that Link could have been stronger in 2003. But I suppose I just remember him arguing against those the most.
