You know, Tommy Vercetti. The guy who got beaten as badly as the stats predicted based on Spring Kefka, for what it's worth.

Spring Kefka is overrated due to Diablo being overrated.

Vercetti has fallen since his last appearence, despite being weak, CJ did take away some of his strength.

You know, the harder thing would be to explain Kefka. Vercetti is easy -- San Andreas came out.

While I'm on the topic, pretty much every RPG character save perhaps Vincent and Tifa have looked pretty bad this tournament. Crono shouldn't be any different.

Well, after seeing Sonic, I'm not entirely sure about that now.

Okay. Explain Ryu then, HM. I like how you ignored him.

I like you assume I bother to read every single post in this topic. I have, many times, gone back and responded to a post that came before another I might have responded to.

And I can't very well explain Ryu, or many other characters for that matter, when it comes to their increasing and decreasing. I just find it hard to believe that Crono of all people is suddenly going to take such a fall to put him a loss to basically every Noble Nine character after being up there with Samus the previous year.

Huh. Here I thought that Vyse was the most consistent contestant ever and the reason that Tifa would beat Sonic, or, failing that, the reason that Sonic was on the level of Samus

Vyse had nothing to do with Sonic being on level with Samus. All you needed to do was look at Diablo to get that.

We've seen Magus and Frog do terribly, and it's been speculated that Crono would too after the first round.

Magus and Frog had reasons to do terribly, too. Both were overrated and Frog dropping even more wouldn't be that big a surprise, if you put anything into that whole "rally deal," which I find to be rather nice explanation to a few choice characters. Magus was overrated, as opposed to simply dropping outright. And Frog shouldn't reflect Crono in the slightest.

Unless DK is suddenly at 31% on BL, which we all know isn't the case, Crono has fallen.

I never said Crono remained the same. I even said that I expected him to fall a little just not the ~4% that he would be expected to based on Vincent being a smidge above Squall. Going by that, Mega Man shouldn't have any problem winning tomorrow's match, which I find very unlikely to happen.

Well, that's got nothing to do with Spring Diablo. If he was overrated, then "Spring Diablo" is an aberration.

And it wouldn't exactly be a fight.

While I'm on the topic, pretty much every RPG character save perhaps Vincent and Tifa have looked pretty bad this tournament. Crono shouldn't be any different.

Rikku and Yuna both didn't strike me as "looking bad" and Squall didn't look bad either. To go along with these characters, I'm not expecting Crono to "look bad" by his performance tomorrow. Although I do expect him to have dropped some.

Well considering it was but two posts above the one you replied to, and it's pretty much impossible not to see them in the same screen at the point when you replied... eh, whatever. Forget it.

In any case, I think Ryu's a damn good example. He too, was a very strong character that took a spill for no reason.

Ganon did worse than what? His spring value? Despite how there could have certainly been a possibility that she gathered something like SFF against him? If he's equal to 2003, then what about Bowser? He did worse on Sephiroth, but now he'd clearly be above him.

So many questions to ask and no one can really 100% prove whether their's is right or wrong.

Mario can fall anywhere from his 2k4 numbers to around Sephiroth's 2k4 numbers.
Crono/Mega Man could go up to 54/46 for either character.
Mario can easily take the finals or have a great match against Crono/Mega Man, plus there's also the possibilty of Mario SFF Mega Man.
Link vs. Cloud this time there's no anti-votes that characters gain as rounds pass.
Mario takes on Sephiroth again (Mega Man and Crono may be here too). What I can say is that it will be closer than the last time the met.
The winner of Link/Cloud will probably also take the next match.

Mario can fall anywhere from his 2k4 numbers to around Sephiroth's 2k4 numbers.

He's definitely closer to Seph's 2k4 value than to his own 2k4 value.

Crono/Mega Man could go up to 54/46 for either character.

True.

Mario can easily take the finals or have a great match against Crono/Mega Man, plus there's also the possibilty of Mario SFF Mega Man.

Crono might give Mario a match, MM definitely will NOT, just look at Mario vs. Zero for clues.

Link vs. Cloud this time there's no anti-votes that characters gain as rounds pass.

I don't think that will change things significantly.

Mario takes on Sephiroth again (Mega Man and Crono may be here too). What I can say is that it will be closer than the last time the met.

Mario will get much closer to Seph than he has ever been before.

Crono has an extremely small chance of making it there, MM has NO chance whatsoever.

The winner of Link/Cloud will probably also take the next match.

The winner of Cloud/Link will DEFINITELY win the whole damn thing.

Around 57% on Crono, but anything on MM won't convince anyone, at least not me.

Hm, you may not read every post, but you selectively quoted parts of mine, but left out this:

Then throw in the very distinct possibility of old/new sff, several people have pointed out that new square has been doing better than old square, and you have more reasons for Crono to underperform. Then you have Vincent's strength alone. He beat Squall and Dante - not weak opponents. He should have done significantly better on Crono than MC and he did.

Those are the reasons Vincent "overperformed" not the AC movie, which didn't even come out here.

And I never said Master Chief plummeted - I love mc as a contestant, but you simply can't ignore his awful performance against Donkey Kong, boosted or otherwise.

All I'm saying is that Vincent didn't overperform, he performed very much in the margin of error. Crono doesn't have to drop extravagantly, and even if he did, it's not like there weren't signs of it. And even a crono trigger drop isn't unplausible; just look at frog and magus.

How high did you think Vincent would get on Crono? Should he have been near the 61% Master Chief? It just sounds like we're underestimating Vincent here; something quite surprising considering the previous Vincent arguments we've had in the past.
