Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 255

I don't think you guys understand. Mario his hauling in 60% NOW, but this is his peak time. He won't be able to keep this up. Now, think of the night when Snake was edging close to 47%. All those votes are still there, and will bring down Mario's overall percentage. No. No way does he hit 60%.

He's got 5%+ to get there, and he won't keep up this pace forever.

In other news, I updated the BOP file for the first time in days, and after the Mario/Samus debacle, we rebounded really well by having two of the board's biggest successes ever: Crono over Vincent at #2 (I am not kidding) and Megaman over Sonic at #6. Goes to show that this was a very mixed contest, as 11 of the top 20 are from this contest, while so are 6 of the bottom 8.

Crono over Vincent...at number two?

Oh, man, imagine the carnage if/when he beats MM next round.

Who was it that complained yesterday that the Megaman support was entirely buried into SNOIC cries every time Sonic got a vote? Either way, that was what happened.

Me.

Magus screwed my bracket over. Yay!
From: Slowflake | Posted: 9/17/2005 5:39:41 AM | Message Detail
Actually, there's quite the dropoff for Crono's prediction this round: it's 84.21%. That means that to be up there with Frog/MC and Crono/Vincent, the prediction percentage must hover around 15%. That's if Crono wins, of course.

Why is Snake v. Shadow even a suggestion? Shadow got beaten by freaking Tidus.

Shadow got 45% on Mario and that was before his new game.

If his game is good he could be noble next year.

I'd take Snake 52% right now, and Shadow with the edge next year.

Snake, my boy, we can't afford that many 107 vote losses if we're going to look good again. For once, let's have you rank ahead of someone so that they can be underestimated for a change.

Snake with only 52%??? Shadow lost to Tidus, who got FREAKING OWNED by Kirby. Now, granted, that's not the worst things to happen after seeing how strong Kirby may rank, but Kirby lost to Bowser, who lost to Snake. Snake would then own Shadow...oh, why am I trying to argue this with Smurf...?

Shadow performed like a noble 9 character in 2 matches (Mario,Wario.) and performed like an upper mid-carder in the other (Teedus).

Majority rules doesn't it?

Shadow lost to Tidus, who lost by a decent margin to Kirby, who closely lost to Bowser, who's pretty equal to Snake.

60/40 sounds right. Hell, I could see it be a bit higher/lower, depending on who overperforms.

That's the way, Snake. Hold that plumber to .01%.

Shadow performed like a noble 9 character in 2 matches (Mario,Wario.)

Bull. Mario/Shadow was nothing but a Sonic proxy, and Wario was a newbie. Noble Nine my ass.

and performed like an upper mid-carder in the other (Teedus).

No, he didn't. Tidus was severely overrated thanks to Magus, and Mega Man exposed him.

Majority rules doesn't it?
Everybody is entitled to an off day.

Not Shadow.

Tidus overperformed aganist Shadow like he did with sonic and Ganon. it's just one of those things...

Tidus was genuinely stronger in 2002--and besides, it was 2002. Ganondorf was weak along with Tidus. Magus exposed them, it's only due to Ganondorf boosting that he came out looking pristine.

Shadow got 45% on Mario and that's what matters...

That he acted as a Sonic proxy?

Are you telling me that 20,000 extra Shadow fans just happened to online that day and had it been held the day after Mario would have won by 65%?

He's telling you that if the match had been against a different opponent of equal strength (let's say, Crono) that Shadow would've been clobbered. Shadow could score that percentage on Mario and ONLY Mario.

No, that's not what happened.

Shadow and Tidus were both borderline noblers coming into 2004. And even during their match they were still that strong.

But sometime in between Round 1 and Round 2, Tidus fans just decieded to stop voting for him so Tidus dropped 10% aganist Mega.

You know it makes sense!

If that was the case then why didn't Sonic 2 destroy Mario World?

I'll tell you why, because Shadow earned that!
Tidus could have dropped sometime or just underperformed aganist Mega.

Shadow is probably in between Ganon and Zero IMO.

With his new game I'd fully expect him to defeat Crono, Snake and heck! maybe Mario.

Here's a theory.

Shadow is slightly stronger then Knuckles with his base popularity, but with pic voters gives him a huge boost into the noble 9.

Tidus had a great pic with a sword in that match so he drew a lot of Shadows pic voters away from him.

If there's a Shadow Snake match next year I'll have no doubt about the winner.

If that was the case then why didn't Sonic 2 destroy Mario World?

Because Games =/= Characters.

I'll tell you why, because Shadow earned that!
Tidus could have dropped sometime or just underperformed aganist Mega.

No, because he beat Shadow and in the next round got clobbered by Mega, and the ownage of Kirby this year through Spring Bowser confirms his placement. Unless you want to tell me that Tidus magically dropped between Round 1 2k4 and Round 1 2k4 and never bounced back.

Shadow is probably in between Ganon and Zero IMO.

Ridiculous.

With his new game I'd fully expect him to defeat Crono, Snake and heck! maybe Mario.

And it seems I wasted my 'ridiculous' too soon, so I'll have to go with a, "..."

A) King of all Cosmos is untested. Stop pulling figures out of your ass and trying to use them to prove stuff.

B) The game contest should count if your theory is true. If Mario fans are drawn to vote Sonic over Mazza, then why would they be so selective?

So I wake up to Mario over 55%. Nice. He should be able to take the day vote against Solid with a percent or so, I hope. Either way, it is closer than I thought it would be, but I only have one thing to say...

BRING ON CRONO/MEGA MAN!

I thought I was delusional and fanboyish. o_O

As has been said, Shadow acted as Sonic against Mario. Had that been his actual strength, then he would have beaten Tidus quite easily. If you're saying that Tidus would be able to perform as well as Shadow did on Mario, then you're saying that he would have been very close to Mega Man. Instead, he got completely embarrassed when Mega Man exposed him and his whole division.
