Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 255
From: Sir Crono | Posted: 9/17/2005 4:56:57 AM | Message Detail
Heh heh, I just realized that if Crono is worth 45% on Mario, Vincent will outrank Samus, too.

EVERYONE other than Mario will end up lower than Snake if Mega Man makes the finals. BOOK IT.

I hate to say it but the only way sonic will end up above mario in the un-adjusted stats is if mario wins teh main bracket and beats sephiroth whlie link beats clould. Then I could see SFF pushing mario down, but mario is clearly stronger than sonic this year.

Mario is sucking big time here. He's only a few points above Bowser!

All Mario has done this contest is SFF 3 characters and expose one who was obviously ovrrated to begin with.

This is his first genuine performance and he's ******* it up. I see no reason anymore to justify a Mario increase.

And Crono has been LOL weak so far.

Bowser had, oh what, 46% at this time? Give Mario some time. He can easily hit 57-58% before it's all said and done. For Mario to stay the same, he needs something like 53% on Snake, and he's already well over that.

but mario is clearly stronger than sonic this year.

Why? Because he can SFF his own kind? Or that he's scoring less the Mega aganist Snake?

Every sign points to Mario staying the same...

58%? That's a bit of a stretch.

You're running off the assumption Snake is as weak as last year. If that was the case, Zelda would've beaten him.

I have a hard time buying that AC helped Vincent *that* much in his match with Crono, though seeing FF7 so high on the FAQs makes me a bit cautious to reject it entirely. I think it's a given that Crono's dropped, the question is if it's enough for him to lose to Mega Man now.

As for Mario's morning vote, looking at his match with Zero he began to increase heavily in percentage right about now, and peaked at around 10:00 PST. So I think it's safe to say that it's *just* starting, and the worst of it should stop there.

I'm pretty sure Mario would rank higher than Sonic, and it's not because of SFF'ing Samus, but at least he actually beat someone Sonic lost to.

the thing i don't get is snake was on the verge of losing to bowser and now he's performing better than samus on MARIO. i know there was some SFF in Mario/samus but come on this is getteing ridiculous. this would mean bowser>samus something must have happened to snake in the last few days

Snake didn't change--Mario is going to own him a lot harder with the morning/day vote (remember, Snake was at 55% on Bowser at his peak), and any discrepancy I'm going to just write off as the sprite, or it being a weekend, or having MGS4 news come out right before the match. All are potential factors.

Imagine if Megaman beats Crono in a nailbiter tomorrow... that'd be a creepy coincidence.

In 2002, one of the most hyped up matches opposes Mario and Cloud in the quarterfinals, and although everyone picked Mario, Cloud would be considered the favorite by hearing the people on the board. Mario first defeats Servbot in a match people don't know what to think of. In the second round, Morrigan does exceptionally well, and suddenly Mario's out of the race. Mario follows that by SFFing DK to all hell, and the show's back on again. He moves on to defeat Cloud and Crono in very close matches before being annihilated by Link in the finals.

In 2005, one of the most hyped up matches opposes Megaman and Sonic in the quarterfinals, and although everyone picked Megaman, Sonic would be considered the favorite by hearing the people on the board. Megaman first defeats Conker in a match people don't know what to think of. In the second round, Leon does exceptionally well, and suddenly Megaman's out of the race. Megaman follows that by SFFing Yoshi to all hell, and the show's back on again. He moves on to defeat Sonic and Crono in very close matches before being annihilated by Mario in the finals.

That would own, no?

Okay, enlighten me. Sonic was the favorite briefly after Mega Man/Leon Kennedy. After what he did to Yoshi, Mega Man was the favorite again. Nobody but those two EVER said he was "doomed." Gimme a break.

If anything, Mega's performance against Yoshi confuses me greatly. If we're to take Yoshi and Luigi's performance in 2k4 as canon, then Sonic should not have done that well on Mega Man--unless Mega Man was able to SFF Yoshi more than Link.

That gives me a serious WTF now, even though I've suggested it could be a possibility in the past.

After what he did to Yoshi, people were playing the SFF card. Not at any time during the contest would the board ever lead you to think 7 brackets out of 8 here picked Megaman.
