Heck, Mega Man was supposed to dominate the first night vote. After the first 30 minutes or so, he didn't. Sonic was supposed to dominate the morning vote. He took the lead and lost it fairly quickly. The only time we've been right was Sonic winning the after school vote, and there were plenty who thought he wouldn't even do that.

this is pretty pointless to argue over, but the reason Sonic didn't dominate the day vote is because the Sonic voters were at school. when they got home, Sonic kicked ass as expected. as we get into the night vote, MM should slowly pull away. I don't expect this lead to break 250 votes, and probably not 300.

I've been thinking about that for the last hour or so. both Nintendo (and, by extension, MM) and Sonic characters have done well this year, while old Square hasn't. I think they'll be the favourite against Crono, but not by much. that should be the best match left we have before the TOC.
