Blue Blur vs. Blue Bomber, baby! (That's not easy to say)

Super fighting robot vs. Fastest thing alive!

Man, I really hope this match delivers. It just feels like it should be a classic, you know?

Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:

Simple Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

Of course it wasn't. Hell, yearly variation could have given Cloud the win this year if they stayed constant from 2k4, for chrissakes. Still, AC will help give Cloud the edge against 'The Boost'.

People automatically assumed the boost applied to Link, yeah. Whatever we saw from Zelda could've happened in 2004 since we never saw her, and the boost wasn't even that big. I'm beginning to think that Ganondorf isn't as strong as the Spring Contest says as well. Besides, I would imagine that the FFVII and LoZ fanbase is VERY split here, so something that AC could swerve it in Cloud's favor.

I'm reserving my thoughts on Zelda until Mario/Snake (hopefully he'll do well enough that I'll have to put an asterisk on the Dream Division). Still, we may be dealing with some characters boosting more than others because they have more room to go up--Samus didn't seem to boost nearly as crazy as Mario, Bowser, Luigi, and even Donkey Kong did. It's possible Link's boost could be minimal, or astronomical. We just don't know.

Indeed, it looks like Samus didn't experience too much of a boost. The Nintendo characters might be experiencing the benefits of being on the DS, although it's difficult to explain what happened to Donkey Kong. Maybe he pulled a "Felix." I can't imagine Donkey Konga doing that much for him.

Meh, I tend to have that feeling whenever Cloud goes up against anyone with strength.

It's only been right once, in 2k4.

Back in 2k2, I didn't even dare to expect him to give Mario a challenge.

Since the three in the ToC haven't had any matches before the ToC starts, I feel they're going to dip a bit. It wouldn't matter if the 2005 champion was facing Link or Cloud, but since Sephiroth is the weaker of the three, he might fall.

I think the opposite. I see no reason for the three biggest characters in the history of the contest to need momentum, in fact I don't think they benefit from momentum and will do much better because they weren't in.

Megaman is not bad with the day vote, but he's bad with the morning vote. I'm talking about the time when Leon went from 34% to 37% and Yoshi went from 31.40% to 33.20%.

This is also the time when from 50% to 56% on Ryu. I think Sonic still can make a comeback.

From: Karma Hunter | Posted: 9/16/2005 1:01:13 AM | Message Detail
Mega's not nearly as bad with the day vote as Magus, though, and Sonic doesn't have the comparative edge Knuckles does with the day. The only thing that Sonic has going for him in terms of an edge is that Magus' second night vote is very strong and Knuckles' is subpar. Mega and Sonic should be around the same in the night vote.

Basically, though, Sonic needs to start slicing more than this, and stalling him more often. Mega's too powerful for this.

Well, I'm doing it to try to justify my personal choice, not because I feel too strongly about it. That pick was a heart pick. I'll choose Mario over Link in the final should it happen that way, but at least my bracket has Link as the winner. I can make correct picks when the obvious is there.

Difference here is that while Sonic is relying on fluke spikes to keep himself from dying, Magus was relying on fluke spikes to keep his lead.

Mega Man isn't going to just die like Magus did.
