ugh. I'm just picturing playing, like, f-zero with that thing.

what's wrong with a d-pad, an analog stick and symmetrical buttons? you'd think it was impossible to make a normal controller.

man, I hate Nintendo. they're a great developer and a horrible designer. I trust that someone will make a "normal" controller, be it Nintendo or someone else. if anyone other than Nintendo did that, they'd be out of business. they've got Mario and Zelda and Metroid to lean on, though, so it'll be bought regardless.

Poor Mega Man and Sonic. Not only has the spotlight for their potentially legendary match been stolen, it's been stolen by an ugly controller.

My first thought was "ugh," pretty much. But then I read this article:

And some of the possibilities mentioned sound really cool. So I guess I'm going to reserve judgement on the thing until I can try it out myself.

Problem is, it CAN'T be sold separately if they want to succeed. We know this from experience--attachments sold separately tend to do woefully bad in this business. They don't have to include the bongo attachments or **** like that, but the controller attachments are a must. They must give off the impression of being a system of traditional ease and use while introducing these aspects, or they will fail.

Nintendo had better include all the ****ing attachments I need with the system or I am seriously considering passing on the Revolution. And I've been a Nintendo fan from the very beginning.

Of course Dante probably increased. The point was that Sonic is ahead of Crono by a good margin from that point of view. I have a difficult time imagining Dante grew all that much, though, considering Knuckles is just barely below him. I also wonder if Dante's VJoe picture hurt him significantly when facing Sonic...

Wow, Crono is still top-notch with the day vote. He did worse early on against Vincent than he did in the day, which is where Vincent was thought to do slightly better.

Goodness gracious...IS THERE ANYONE THAT CAN HOLD A CANDLE TO MC DURING THE DAY?

Can't one company just come up with a normal ****ing controller for the next generation already?! Christ...

First time I've felt like this but I'm developing complete apathy for the next generation of consoles and games so far. Might just wait a couple years to buy even one console, if there's anything released that actually interests me at all. Coming from a life-long gaming addict, that is a bit shocking even to me.

I do wanna see Master Hand come back one year, only because of such a great upset it pulled and its fabulous day-vote. Even then though, I'd only want it to be an 8-seed (or 16-seed if we ever go back to that format), and I'd prefer to see MH face another Nintendo character (like Mario or Link, he he he).

The DS definately has a bright future and passed the biggest test: making it out the first year with the PSP trailing behind.

Meh, the PSP is Sony's first attempt to make a handheld console, so passing that is by no means a feat to celebrate.

But I'll agree that the DS has far more potential than the Rev as of right now.

FACT or FICTION: If Master Hand ever got to face Kefka (say, on a school-day), it would win at least two fifteen-minute updates against him with the after-school vote.

And you wanna know how weak Master Hand is? Kefka would be expected to break 70% on him. He wouldn't be winning any updates. Don't be impressed because of what he did with two characters who were relatively close to him.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I don't think MH is as weak as people think. Robotnik's match with Ganon made him look miserably bad, and no one really knows what happened there.

Oh, no doubt that Robo and Kuja are weak as all hell. At the same time though, I'm not sure if there really is anybody weaker than Kefka with the day-vote (Terra, maybe?); with massive cheating, Kefka was still losing the day-vote to Vercetti (who's proven that the day-vote isn't especially kind to him), and let's not forget he went even with Wesker for practically all of the day-light hours (which is when he had Angel Kefka, no less).

I wouldn't be too surprised to see Kefka just beat MH down all day, but I can honestly see MH sneak away with a small victory or two update-wise, especially now that SSBM is packaged with Gamecubes.

eh, who knows. I could give a bunch of reasons as to why Kefka/Old Square's on the decline and Nintendo's on the upswing and all that, but, like, it's Master Hand. plus, you've gotta remember that I love FF9 and refuse to believe he can be beaten by A GLOVE.

anyway, I've got Crono with 33% of the brackets. I can't imagine too many more people would abandon Crono at this point.

I'd take Terra in a close one. FF6 > FF9 here. Even if Zidane might have a bit more backing from his game.

I dunno why everybody's expecting Sonic/Mega Man to be close tomorrow. Wishful thinking, maybe? I can't see Sonic doing much better than Solid Snake, I really can't.

Mega Man 55.55%.

Right...and Solid's done well for himself this year, too.

Terra/Zidane is interesting, seeing as how they're gonna be practically tied in the stats when this match ends (I think Terra'll barely be ahead). Things to consider would be if Crono got any SFF against Zidane or Vincent (both of which probably didn't happen), if Vincent rSFF'd Crono (possible but very debatable/controversial), if Zidane's more important to FF9 than Terra is to FF3/6 (which, to my understand, that's probably so), if being from a newer FF helps Zidane's cause (it could), and if being from a more liked FF helps Terra's cause (which, again, it does). All things considered, I'd likely take Terra in a very close one.

Sorry for all the parentheses, by the way.

Zidane is definitely the main character in FF9. I won't touch those other points with a ten foot stick quite yet; we've had two consecutive Crono matches with characters whose strength is in question. ain't so for Sonic/MM.
