It'll work even more if whoever comes out of the main bracket beats him :D

Indeed. Keep that in mind come Cloud vs Crono.

Alucard just has the Plan. Eggman is the one with the Master Plan.

Coincidentally, both of them are weaker than CATS.

When you're at 57.4 on an opponent as strong as Tifa, it's hard to increase in percentage any more. Sonic's still taking the day vote here.

Sonic stopped increased percentage against Diablo at 7 AM and stopped against Jin at noon. Meh, it of a morning thing. He's great in the morning and good with the day. His good has caught up with his great and he can't go up anymore.

...if that makes sense

hey Harrich, I was just thinkin': do you still have those projected x-stats based on your picks this year? I'd be curious to see them now that we have a pretty good idea on everyone's strength.

Yeah, but I'm wantin' to wait until after the contest to show 'em off again; I haven't even looked at them since I made it, but I just KNOW they're gonna look bad. I'll wait 'til the end of the contest to show off their true beauty, heh.

i've got a crappy theory

all nominations for the boss were counted for big boss and so were the naked snake ones. result is that the boss should have been inthe contest instead of big boss
cause people entered something like
boss-metal gear solid series
in their nomiation

You're wrong. Big Boss is a better character than The Boss, and he is also the main character, and he got more nominations in all likelihood.

I think you may be right, ernest. Though I did see some Big Boss support too.

Even so, I think MGS got series capped for some inexplicable reason and Liquid Snake, Raiden, and The Boss would have made it in without the cap.

Label his picture "Snake" and we have at LEAST a 55-45 match.

Dark Samus is not Samus. Naked Snake, for all intents and purposes, is Snake.

The reason I make? That IGN (I think?) poll, in which Naked Snake 50-50ed Solid Snake. If that doesn't point to them being almost the same beast given the right conditions, I don't know what does.

So, random topic time.

Tidus only beat Claire Redfield like 55-45 in 2002, is it really out of whack to think that Leon Kennedy = Tidus... Gordon Freeman aside? If that were the case Mega Man may not have really bombed at all last round.

Well, I've been singing Sonic > Mega Man for some time now, partially to see Slowflake squirm. But by no means do I think surrendering 35% to Leon means Mega Man is auto-lose.

I'll say it again...Sonic at 37% on BL. Tifa's doing fairly well, so she'll probably end up at around 32%, and Luigi at...~29%? A good, but not incredible, boost from his previous ranking of 25.24%.

Even if you ignore Mega Man's match against Leon, I think Sonic's going to be in the advantageous position. Mega Man's best case scenario is to have stayed constant with his adjusted ranking, which is below what I would consider the "floor" for Sonic this year.

But I never really viewed what Mega Man did last round as "bombing." I always figured Leon would have been pretty high up there, as opposed to the fodder he would have been if you don't think Freeman went up much.

Claire's other RE was more popular than Leon's, so Claire 2k2 is probably > Leon 2k5. I can see GF making that big of a leap though, I thought that it would be quite large and that the numbers people predicted against him for Leon were unbelievable.

The most popular RE Claire was in was RE2, and Leon shared the spotlight with her there.

And you know what really stands out about the RE series is how Jill has a COMMANDING dominance of popularity in her first game, even though she shares it as well. I find myself often forgetting that Chris is even IN that game.

Code Veronica is not more popular than RE4. Not a chance. (was it even out in 2002? I'm not even sure... that's how much of a hit it was...)

Another factor to consider in the strength of Leon now is that he draws from the Nintendo crowd and the Playstation crowd. Claire only had the Playstation crowd at the time.

Anyway, I'm not counting Mega Man out until I see what he does against Yoshi. I'm kinda expecting him to do better than he should... just to confuse us again.

CV sold 900,000 on the PS2, and 350K on the DC. RE4's barely over half a million.

...What in the world is Sonic doing drawing votes? An impressive showing here by the Blue Blur, regardless of how you look at it. I personally think Tifa is in the same general area as Aeris and Vincent. I think he looks good against Mega Man next round, though if Mega Man puts up similar numbers against Yoshi, it's a toss-up.

And it's really not that much of a stretch for Tifa to be in the position of Sonic 2003. Heck, Aeris was at 32.81%, meaning she wasn't far off that mark at all. The only thing that makes you stop and think is Luigi, but who thought Kirby could almost get within 2% of Bowser? Things change.

For the record, setting Tifa equal to Aeris puts Sonic at 38.46% on Link, right below Mega Man 2003. Even as low as 32% puts Sonic at 37.51% on Link, about .7% higher than last year. Quite frankly, anyone saying that Sonic is equal to his 2003 number is just not thinking clearly. I think this "Oh, Diablo has clearly taken a dive in 3 months" excuse is flimsy. I'd be more willing to wager Ganondorf was just overrated before I'd believe that.
