Well no one actually believes that Sonic could beat Mario or Samus.

You act as though that's crazy. People somehow believe Solid Snake has risen to about 37% on BL, which clearly puts him ahead of Mega Man. That jump, adjusted or unadjusted, is larger than the one Sonic would have to have. Even with Mario's boost taken into account, Sonic is still projected to win with roughly 51%, I believe.

There's not a guarantee there at all, but to say that Sonic has no chance at winning seems rather foolish to me given what we know. But I suppose this'll have to wait until next round against Mega Man.

Going with the 39.27% number for Sonic, this performance right now -- as of 56.73% -- would put Tifa at a percentage of 33.98% against 2004 Link. That's just a smidge above Sonic's 2004 number. There's room for Tifa to fall just right under the elite's here.

You don't really need to "argue" really, Sonic's numbers are right there. There's nothing you have to stretch to see that he CAN win. Whether or not he does is a different story entirely. I did not say it was absolutely certain that Sonic would beat Mario or Samus. I did, however, state that it is clearly possible for him to do so. How in the world you can deny that is beyond me. You cannot look to previous years and show me any match where Sonic may have lost, considering those years are not the final say in what happens during 2005.

If you want to ignore the numbers, fine. But I find it absurd to go with the idea that Solid Snake is at 37% on BL and that Mario, Samus, and to a much lesser extent, Crono have a shot at winning this while Sonic appears to just be there -- happy to beat Mega Man at best. That is what's ludicrous.

I think Snake and Sonic ranking with Mario and Samus is unreasonable. Samus beat Sonic 57-43 or something last year and the so-called "Nintendo boost" has happened since then. I can't imagine the "Sonic boost" is going to be enough to offset that by 7%.

Snake had a nice showing on Sora, but he's not going to beat Mario or Samus. no way.

On the subject of Tifa's ranking, if Sonic can manage to get up to and finish with 57.27%, then Tifa will fall in exactly equal to Sonic's 2004 ranking of 33.56%. If Sonic finishes with 58.23%, then Tifa would fall directly equal to Magus's old 2004 value of 32.57%.

So her percentage might be elite-esque if she ranks equal to 2k4 Sonic, but I believe all of the Noble Nine would have ranked above that percentage when everything is said and done.

You honestly think I'm serious when I say Bowser SFFed Ryu and stuff like that?

And I said Zelda would be doing better (not winning) with an SSBM picture, because I thought more people that come to this site here and now, have played SSBM, than OoT. Of course, OoT is much more popular, as seen by the game contest, but more people probably dislike SSBM because its a fighting game, instead of a real adventure game like OoT. Now, I don't know the sales of both, but I imagine they're close.
