I vaguely remember discussions about the strengths of Kirby,Tidus,Luigi, and Squall a while back and how the match results didn't seem to make sense. I was just wondering what this Luigi increase does to the rankings.

If Sonic is in for his own version of Frog/Snake, I'm going to be upset. He can't even blame it on the picture, for chrissakes.

If Tifa ends up taking the lead before morning (and right now it's looking possible, since her best time is typically the "European vote" period), that would just be SOOO sweet.

Sonic's lead right now is inflated due to bracket voting (not to mention board FF7 hatred), so Tifa's night vote is looking real good. She can't win the actual match, but her having a lead at some point would be a lot of fun.

BTW, isn't it funny how Vincent and Tifa's stocks seem to rise and fall together :)

Snake/Sonic has always been one of the toughest matches to call for me. Obviously in 2k2 and 2k4 Sonic easily outranks Snake, but Snake would have had the advantage in 2k3, and they've both been impressing in 2k5.

We have NO idea where this performance puts Sonic, because Tifa has a big range. As sad as it is, if it came down to it right now in my bracket I'd take Sonic for the points and be happy if I turned out wrong.

...I don't see how that's a relevant question, though.

It's nice to see HM rooting for Sonic over Tifa of all people. It's even weirder for him rooting for Sonic with Mega Man on the horizon.

It makes the Nintendo Boost™ look better.

Though, thinking about it further, it doesn't make FF7 look that bad. Since Tifa did have Vyse undperform worse than KOS-MOS. So maybe Tifa is stronger than previous years; we can't know. Which means Link might not blow Cloud out after all. (though I still expect Link to win comfortably there, myself)

Sonic wins that update, bringing his lead back over 200 (221). I would imagine that this little number will last for quite a while. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see Tifa doing better as time goes on during this night portion.

During the Vincent/Squall match I had a bad feeling Sonic/Tifa would turn into Sonic/Aeris II. The large number of Square fans circulating the site already thanks to the previous Square off would only hurt.

The morning vote will still push the Blue Blur ahead though, and I still think he'll beat Mega Man.

A Snake/Sonic match would be very good in that it would definitely have one of the biggest shifts in votes between two elite characters, assuming both could hold their own. Snake would ravage Sonic with the first night vote, while Sonic would rape Snake in the daytime. Then they'd split the second night vote. It'd be close.

Aeris is still relatively gaugable through Squall. If he hasn't dropped, she's not liable to.

I still say we need to wait until Crono v. MM/Sonic for answers.

I said those were my thoughts at the beginning of the contest (it's why I went with MM over Sonic even though I didn't trust the adjusteds). Jin seemed to verify that at first, but after Sonic trounced Diablo I was ready to concede that I was wrong.

But Luigi's rise is too high for me at this point. Sonic WILL pull away, but I'm skeptical again.
