Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 242

This would be the closest wire-to-wire match if neither gets above 448 (Frog's peak lead on Liquid Snake).

yeeeowch. it looks like Squall stalls, stalls, stalls and then Vincent just destroys him, and repeat.

I'm going to see my parents.. hopefully this remains a close match.

I'd love to play Shadow Hearts if I could actually FIND the game anywhere, and I'd rather not eBay it.

Don't know what you're looking to spend, but you can get it for around under $25 from Gamestop online. Most ebay auctions end around there as well. If you are looking for less than that, I would recommend just keeping an eye out for it.

And KB, will do, but if the plot does not keep me interested, I won't even bother finishing SH. Many'a'RPGs have gone that route (Xenosaga, Breath of Fire III, Lufia II to name a few).

I was at a movie during the evening of Frog/Liquid, but is that when Liquid brought Frog's lead down?
From: Karma Hunter | Posted: 9/10/2005 10:47:07 AM | Message Detail
Man, Vincent's lead just 'exploded' on that one. Anti-climactic...

Who takes the second night vote? I know people are inclined to say FF7, but they said that about the day, too...and if this is 'taking' the day vote, then it's as much a tossup to me as anything.

And Squall's last updates just haven't been up to snuff. He's just rolling over again.

Yes, but Vincent has almost double the lead and shows no signs of slowing down.

Like I've been saying since the beginning of the match: STOP CALLING IT BEFORE IT'S OVER.

But it is. Unless CJayC finds cheating or something.

I'm gonna make an assumption, and I wanna hear what you guys think about it:

Comebacks are much harder to accomplish in same-company/fanbase matches like today. Not to say comebacks are impossible or won't happen, don't mistake me for that, but there's at least two factors to consider. Although today's match doesn't seem to be a sign of it, most SFF-matches, close or not, don't have as high of vote-totals, thus making it harder to get the necessary votes to come back. Also, in matches like MC/DK, there are strongly-varying fanbases and different "hot-times" for each of them because of their fanbases. With matches like today's, the fanbase is very similar (both are in FF and had their big game on the PSX), so voting trends shouldn't deviate nearly as much through-out the day. You can argue about that factor due to KH (and also Kirby/Bowser due to SSB/M), but that makes this become a battle between multiple fanbases. You can't ignore that, obviously, but those two matches are different from, say, Solid/Raiden.

Note that I'm not saying there's SFF or anything like that; I'm only trying to argue for comebacks in matches like this to be tougher than usual. Even then though, it's hard to say; we haven't had many/any same-fanbase matches that get this close, afterall.

Just because the vote difference is small doesn't mean characters will comeback. If you haven't notice both of these characters have the exact same voting pattern.

Granted, this almost certainly WILL be over if Squall doesn't get his ass in gear, but this is more Squall not keeping up the pace than Vincent starting to radically increase. If he gets back into gear, then it's a match again.

Or, hell, he could get the second night vote for all we know. IT'S. NOT. OVER.
