it happens in the daytime occasionally, too. the site just moves slower at night due to purges and maintenance and all that, so sometimes it misses an update. at least I think that's what's happening.

"There's also Tidus, Aerith and Squall "

Overrated to begin with, has only been seen gaining strength (but hasn't been seen in 2 years), and behind SFF last year (plus gained in 2k3). I'm not sure what you're getting at. Hell, Kirby 2k5 almost proves Squall was SFFd last year.

First, the two don't have much to do with each other. The biggest criticism the movie has gotten is that people who have not played FFVII will not enjoy it as much as those who have (Surprise, surprise!) Other than that, there hasn't been much negative thoughts on Advent Children. The people who saw it at Venice gave it a standing ovation through the credits. There's been far more good than there has bad about the movie.

I've heard it's all about the action, with the story taking a backsteat. I think I might be a bit disappointed, but I should wait until I've seen the movie for myself until I make further judgements.

Advent Children isn't bad, so there doesn't appear to be a problem now does there?

Well if DoC is worse than AC, which I doubt will be very good to begin with, it could very well be a bad game.

You think that Ganondorf has decreased. So, yeah.

I've shown you all the evidence, but I never really expected you to understand it.

I've said to myself 'if Squall loses this update, I'm going to bed' four times now.

god damn it, Squall.

I didn't like either of the BB titles, though I only played a few minutes of them. while realistic, the one-hit kill thing bugged me.

I'd just 'bout kill for BB3, so y'all better run if you hear Square saying the only thing that would revive that series is human sacrifice.

I feel the same way about Parasite Eve. But after seeing how they horribly dropped the ball with Musashi Samurai Legend, I'm wary of the quality of the games not named Kingdom Hearts that Square has been putting out of late. Let's hope they don't butcher the World of Mana project...

I've heard it's all about the action, with the story taking a backsteat. I think I might be a bit disappointed, but I should wait until I've seen the movie for myself until I make further judgements.

The action is certainly there, but by no means is the story taking a backseat in the movie. From all the details I know, which is basically the entire movie itself, it has a damn good story -- a very nice continuation of Final Fantasy VII.

Well if DoC is worse than AC, which I doubt will be very good to begin with, it could very well be a bad game.

It could be a bad game, but that has nothing to do with Advent Children. If AC were bad, DC could be amazing. The two are not tied together. For the record, AC is not bad by any stretch of the imagination. But in four more days people will know that.

Dirge of Cerberus has a very nice foundation thus far. It just needs more tweaks in order to perfect the gameplay and its issues. Considering it doesn't come out for many more months, it's safe to say that DC will easily be above a "bad game."

Still not good news for Squall. He can't just rely on sucky Vincent updates to win the match.

Still, this was a pattern in the Dante match as well. Vincent is usually solid and strong, but every once in a while he'll get an update that is absolutely *pitiful*. I always attribute it to a higher percentage of voters in that update not knowing who he is due to his optional status, but...maybe that's just his style.

Can you show it to me? Because all I can see his him kicking ass, and taking names.

Sure.

According to the SFF-adjusted standings, Ganondorf was supposed to get 65.93%. He got 61.6%.

A case can be made for Yuna gaining through FFX-2.

Against Auron, the predicted percentage was 57.70%. He got 54.1%.

A case can be made for Auron being underrated in the SFF-adjusted stats due to being SFF'd.

He underperformed 0.5% against Samus.

A case can be made for Samus as she should've gotten a lot stronger and Ganondorf isn't exactly good with the day vote.

Ok so maybe Ganondorf got stronger, it won't be by much.

From this point 'til the end of Dante/Vincent the Dashing lad who rules you all dropped by less than a %. If he were to somehow drop the same % from now til then He'd still squeeeeeeeeeek it out narrowly. Of course, that's not how we do math in the real world and if the voting patterns are the same, just with Squall closer in strength, we'll end further off than MvC style match.

Well that wasn't convincing... I mean I've always thought about percentage swinging 3%... so undeperforming by 3% and .5% isn't really stunning. And yes Yuna definitely did get a boost from X-2, even if it sucked.

HM are you still convinced that AC will boost Cloud/Sephiroth above Link and the other FF7 character to elite status? You yourself stated that the negative reviews were due to people being unfamiliar with the FF7 plot. Doesn't that mean the movie's influence is limited to already existing FF7 fans?

I've read differently, but I certainly hope the story will be good.

It could be a bad game, but that has nothing to do with Advent Children. If AC were bad, DC could be amazing. The two are not tied together. For the record, AC is not bad by any stretch of the imagination. But in four more days people will know that.

I just think more money is put into AC, thus DoC will be worse. Much like MGA is a lot worse than MGS. It's made by Kojima too, but there's a tiny budget.

Dirge of Cerberus has a very nice foundation thus far. It just needs more tweaks in order to perfect the gameplay and its issues. Considering it doesn't come out for many more months, it's safe to say that DC will easily be above a "bad game."

Considering every impression I've read does seem to suggest it being a bad game, and Square having a bad reputation concering action games (Bouncer, anyone?), it's safe to say that it could easily be a bad game.

"Doesn't that mean the movie's influence is limited to already existing FF7 fans?"

Let's put it this way, if the movie is good it will inspire people to replay FF7. If they haven't palyed it in a decade tehy may need a walkthrough. If they need a walkthrough they may come to GameFAQs when otherwise they wouldn't. It's not creating new fans that should be a concern, it's bringing them back to GF that we need to consider.

I never believed that Advent Children would serve to introduce people to an entirely new auidence to begin with. I don't know why someone would think like that. The majority of GameFAQs tends to be a Final Fantasy VII fan and they are undoubtedly fans of other characters like Link as well. When Cloud and Sephiroth get something new with them in it, I do believe they'll see a boost. However, I'm not calling for it to be something massive -- it actually doesn't need to be.

And Advent Children would still be enjoyable to those who are unfamiliar with the plot of Final Fantasy VII, but it's clearly going to make fans of the game the most pleased. It's characters they love brought back into action.
