Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 241

I'd actually call Squall the favourite at this point. Vincent is in no way guaranteed the win.

Yeah, they seem to be going back and forth with updates. Good one there for Vincent.

I'm calling it despite not really having a reason to. I just want to see how low Vincent's prediction percentage will be and then see if he can possibly overperform against Crono.

This match is extremely up in the air. It's uncallable right now.

The day vote is unpredictable.

At least the morning vote should makes things somewhat clear though, as there's no after-school vote tomorrow.

Squall... the favorite? I wouldn't dare do that. Squall is far from a big day vote winner.

"as there's no after-school vote tomorrow."

Don't say that. While it's not as defined let's be honest, even with no school at all the voting trends still hold rathre similar. Not the same, sure, but it's like *gasp* the after school vote isn't really determined by people getting out of school. Perhaps on the weekend it's the "after homework" vote, lol. Really, just because there's no school doesn't mean voting trends will change significantly.

Squall... the favorite? I wouldn't dare do that. Squall is far from a big day vote winner.

Neither is Vincent. His optional status should hurt some extra during day time (I do think his optional status is hurtful to his overall performance -- I don't think Tifa would have any problems whatsoever dispatching Squall) .

FFVII is very strong with the day vote though, normally.

Hate to break it to ya, consolefreak, but Aeris isn't optional and the stats call for her winning by like 52%. If being optional hurts him then it's just keeping him from being an elite, really.

Vincent's vote trend seems to fall in line with how FFVII normally does. It's weaker during the first night vote, good with the day vote, and then carries that on into the second night vote. At best, I could see Squall and Vincent going even with the day vote, but there's nothing here that suggests Squall is actually the favorite.

And I don't think his optional status is hurting him much at all, to be honest. Although Tifa beating Squall by more than this isn't something I would consider unlikely. Hell, Tifa's voting patterns tend to have her performing better during the night than during the day. Heh.

You know, it certainly can't be argued that it helps him; it obviously hurts him. But it certainly doesn't hurt him enough to keep him from being pretty damn impressive.

What?! I didn't bring that up. I was commenting from what transcience had said. I don't know the whole mess surrounding -- I'm assuming some argument broke out -- but I was just commenting on how ridiculous that sounds.

That was 2k3 Aerith (FF's best year by far). And I do think Vincent is more likeable than Aerith.

It's, all things considered, at best a factor that is overwhelmed by his other atributes and at worst a non-factor altogether. Really, at this point, it's not worth arguing that he's optional as he is about equal to the spoilers. Anyone othre than me remember that being used as the primary argument for Aeris > Vincent and Aeris > Tifa?

I can definitely see Vincent hovering around the elite ranks soon. Unless, of course, they decide to make him optional in his own game or something.

Doubt it, unless AC is a huge hit. Seph has continued to decline, you could make a case for Cloud decreasing last year, though not substantially, and we haven't seen Aeris in forever. I doubt Vincent gets in without HM's huge rallying cry. Hell I nominated and I don't even like him.

"(FF's best year by far)"

I've seen 0 evidence to indicate that FF is at any sort of low point since then. The only character to noticably underperform their 2k3 mark since then without fair reasoning is Sephiroth, and if you've heard what I've had to say in the past then you know there's a chance that had a reason behing it too.

It actually got updated. I believe the original text was

Crono 38.10%

so I'd imagine that percentage was for Master Chief. We were pretty lucky in getting to see it, really.

"I doubt Vincent gets in without HM's huge rallying cry."

Tifa racked in twice as many noms from the board, pun intended. Frankly, no amount of rallying on this board got him in... his inclusion was mostly on the back of the "casuals". Frankly, you're the firs person I've seen that said they nominated Vincent forany rallying done here.

It depends whether his game is good or not. Also, I believe Dirge of 3-headed dog not an RPG (correct me if I am wrong here) so it might turn off some FF fans.
From: Ars Arcanum13 | Posted: 9/10/2005 1:49:50 AM | Message Detail
Haha okay, you're right, I don't know why I forgot about Dirge... I wouldn't doubt him being up the strongest character aside from Cloud and Link.
