Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
http://sc2k5.com/drupal/node/11

Simple Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

You bet your ass. The gloating will never end, especially if he pulls it to a safer margin by the end. The Vincent doubters were just plain wrong, and they deserved to lose more than 4-7 points.

Hell, not just the doubters but also the haters. Gamefaqs called, and they say you lack taste!

I admit I doubted Vincent, but the Magus > Vincent still stands.

"but most of you still have Magus winning,"

Has nothing to do with it, when I made my bracket I said "I'm putting Vincent = Aeris, though I wish he were higher" and also "Hey, Magus looks wrong thanks to Tidus and Sam Fisher, but Ganon says otherwise...". combine the two and you have me rather deserving of a 4 point loss, but never a doubter.

You bet your ass. The gloating will never end, especially if he pulls it to a safer margin by the end. The Vincent doubters were just plain wrong, and they deserved to lose more than 4-7 points.

Er, where is this mystical army of Vincent doubters you seem to speak of? For Kerrigan, even the people who thought she could win were confident she wouldn't do it in more than a squeaker.

Against Dante, an already powerful opponent who could likely have increased, how is it massively doubting Vincent to say that he might lose? He could have been pretty darn strong and still lost that match.

If Cloud beats Link, do you think anyone who picked Cloud to win would suddenly start jumping up and down screaming that everyone doubted Cloud? Thinking that a strong character might not be able to defeat formidable opposition is not exactly the magnitude of sin you seem to want it to be.

And I can't blame them, but the insist that he'd lose to Squall (which he isn't going to) or even worse, DANTE, was insane. I went as conservative as I thought I could possible be on Vincent when I made my bracket, and that was Aeris=Vincent, anybody who thought less has been proven to be badly mistaken.

Vincent 54 percent
Dante 46 Percent

Apparently, it is possible to make even less sense than calling 55% a blowout.

While we're at it - everyone who doubted that Kirby would beat Tidus is clinically insane. Book it.

funny, I didn't see anyone calling for 79 or whatever percent in here, either.

Okay... so lets look at this. I also set Aeris=Vincent. However, I said hey, DMC3 was a badass game with extremely good reviews, if the crap that was DMC2 gave him a boost, this will too, and to a point slightly above 30%. As this contest is taking shape it looks like he will be right around that 30% mark. So if that's so, why is it so INSANE to say that he would lose to Dante in an absolute squeaker. What you're saying is, it's okay that you underestimated Vincent, and overestimated Magus, but it's so terrible that I got Dante possibly dead on, and underestimated Vincent?

Wow.

We have a few choice people in this topic who are rather fanatical about him while others who tend not to care. It doesn't seem to clash well.

Well, Magus is sort of a good point to bring up here, too. Most people didn't take Vincent over Magus. Those that took Squall over Magus weren't willing to take Vincent over Magus either, in a way. It's not insane thinking, it's sort of the same as why most have Magus winning today. Basically the thinking was that whomever won Magus/Squall was winning their division, which seems to be the majority consensus.

Wait, where you THERE for all of the Vincent/Dante arguments? "Vincent is just an optional character. There's no way he's as strong as Aeris. His win over Kerrigan was nothing. She's just uber fodder. Etc...." It wasn't them backing Dante as much as it was them doubting Vincent....

Who exactly thinks Cloud has no chance in that match? As far as I've noticed, while a majority of people think Link will win, no one is seriously discounting the possibility for Cloud to pull off a win.

Sure, there was more talk about Tifa reaching the Final 4 than Vincent, but even if Vincent wins today, he'll have done exactly what was expected of him and nothing more (in terms of strength). He's winning one more match than most people predicted, and that's due more to a Magus implosion than anything else. What should any of us be impressed with? A FFVII character beating a FFVIII character? Never saw that one coming. Tifa beating Luigi with less than 44%? Woo-wee.

Who should we brag to? Those people delusional enough to have Kerrigan over Vincent, or maybe all three people with Luigi over Tifa? I remember when people were saying "this contest will be remembered more for Vincent and Tifa than Nintendo dominance." Ya right. Go ahead and brag. I'm sure the few people who thought this wouldn't happen are going to be crushed.
