Not a bad performance by the Chief. I can always count on a Crono match to go as planned.

Chief should end up with 35-36% when this is all over, right where most of us figured he would land.

MC vs. Crono - Bracket: Crono - Vote: MC (72/80)

That he should. Crono is Mr. Consistency. Sure, he is performing worse than Aeris did, but Halo boom + Halo 2 + 360 hype = enough to make me think MC increased, since we know DK did from the uber SSB:M upshoot.

...but will Crono have enough to hold off Mario???

Didn't Nintendo have a whole bunch of stuff come out?

Mario - SM64DS, Paper Mario ect.
Ness - Nothing, but you don't really have proof that he gain
Samus - Metroid Prime 2, Metroid Prime Hunters Demo
Ganondorf - TP hype
Zelda - TP hype
Kirby - Canvas Curse
Bowser - SM64DS and other things
Donkey Kong - Donkey Konga?
Luigi - SM64DS and other things
Yoshi - Sm64DS and other things

Does this mean Crono's the only Noble Niner to have remained constant this year? Because it looks like everyone's increased except Mega Man.

I really hope people don't try to say that Master Chief was still at his 2K3 value. It's bordering on delusional to think that two unrelated characters, one of which with a 5 million seller under his belt, would remain constant over a span of two years. Looks like Halo 2 did do something after all, but DK benefitted from the all around Nintendo increase. As for CATS, I'm ready to believe that Tanner would get 25% on MC easily solely due to anti-votes.

Good based on his past performance, but it's not so impressive once you factor in that his biggest competition has increased.

Crono should still get to the final, but bar an announcement for Chrono Break I doubt he'll beat Mario/Samus.

Yeah, I'm glad I was wrong on my prediction about MC (less than 31%); Face-CATS and DK were both reasonable arguments for MC 2k3 = 2k5 though. Hopefully the after-school vote lets him tear through even more percentage.

I said a couple days ago that MC will always have trouble with fodder due to his x-box reputation. he'll "overperform" on strong characters and "underperform" on weak ones. I'm sticking to this until he either blows out someone or someone blows him out.

So, it is true... Halo 2 was the difference maker in the match against DK. I dunno, seeing DK go up from his perennial "midpack definition" spot seems odd.

Well, he did almost net 71% on Crash Bandicoot last year. Anyway, it's pretty funny watching Crono rebuild his percentage lead during the last hour, although I do expect Master Chief to make a nice push once the after school vote hits.

Well, at least the votals for this match aren't as horrendous as last time's...seriously, I wouldn't have expected Kirby/Bowser to be lower than Yoshi/Pac-Man. Right now we're just a tad bit behind Snake/Sora, so if we follow that trend we'll be decent.

And it looks like Crono isn't letting the Chief have his way with the day vote thus far. He's only dropped .2% since I checked today at 8:30.

And whoa...He just had a 72% update.

Well, if you take the Nintendo boost and CC to mean something, Bowser still is near-elite (or elite, for those who think he's taking down Snake). Depending on how much of a boost Dante got, Vincent could be near-elite as well. As could Tifa depending on where Luigi lies.

Bowser's still a near elite. Kirby just took a big leap up. Kirby officially ended up at 33.31% on BL, based on Spring Contest Bowser. Impressive indeed.

And there's always the possibility that Tifa, Vincent, or Squall MIGHT be, depending on how they perform.

Kirby. He was around 28.5% in 2k4, but he was based on 2k3 Squall who was behind Link/Samus that year. That's 5% for Kirby and 3% (31 to 34%) for Bowser.

Not I, as I thought he'd fall a bit more. But if we assume that Magus and Tidus are still more or less equal (which may be a bad assumption), that means good things for Squall tomorrow.

And after Snake/Sora, well, I don't think Bowser has much of a shot of actually winning. He should do better than Zelda, but I don't think he can win. Maybe he's still near elite, though. I don't think either Vincent, Squall, or Tifa can make that claim, as it requires Dante, Knux, and Luigi to all be a good bit above 30%BL, which I think is unlikely in all three cases. There's still Ganondorf, I suppose. Perhaps Zelda.

I could actually see Zelda outdoing Bowser comfortably against Snake. Looking at Zelda 2k3 and how Magus was overrated, there's a strong possibility that Zelda > Ganondorf in 2k3. Since Link seemed to get a boost in 2k4 independent of a Nintendo increase, it's possible that Ganondorf and Zelda would have done the same, which would explain them both being over Bowser now when they were under him in 2k3. Combine that with Snake perhaps getting the worst picture I've ever seen in that match to give Zelda even more of an advantage, and I can see Bowser doing worse if Snake gets a decent picture next round.

Or, you know, Bowser could win. But let's try to pretend that's not a possibility. ;_;

From: Sir Crono | Posted: 9/9/2005 9:25:40 AM | Message Detail
Well, if you base Magus off of Spring Luca Blight (may not be the best thing to do, but still), he's at approximately 29% on Link. That puts Knuckles at 29.5% on Link, which puts Squall at 31.57%, relatively close to his 2003 value.

Of course being recognizable would hardly be the issue for Zelda. It's more an instance of preference. Even though it's hard to find any people complaining about Young Zelda in the manner that people complained about The Wind Waker.... <_<
