Ouch. Well I guess I forgot about Tidus. The combination of Kirby's 1

Well Chief's looking well better than Vercetti right now, and this is his worst time... and Crono's best time at that.
Can Master Chief manage 40%? I think it's a possibility.

Badass lightsaber=slightly stronger than normal. MC doing fairly decent here was expected.
As long as Crono stays near 65% and up, he won't really have disappointed.
Remember that FACE had MC in the 27% range, which as we discussed earlier might be where DK is with The Boost™.

now.

Let's not get out of hand now. Getting 40% would be a HELL of a
stretch. That would not only indicate strength on Chief's part to me,
but I'd have to buy a Crono fall to justify it. Not that it's out of
the question after all we've seen here, but I really think that's
improbable.

No way that MC breaks 40% here. People are going really overboard.
Crono is not bad with the day vote historically. MC is terrible with
the night vote, but he's not going to break 40%, that's out of reach.

Don't be mistaken, Master Chief WILL increase his percentage in the
daytime, as the majority of his fanbase is located in North America.
But an increase to 40% is absurd. That would be an even bigger vote
swing than he had on CATS. Crono is also pretty popular among the
casuals.

You can't compare raw numbers with 50/50 matches. Percentages are much easier to swing, because its a proportionate thing.

Wait, what? If anything it's easier to gain % when you're at a lower %.
What I'm saying is, Frog was at 62% or something right now. And Chief
gained 12% over the course of the day.
Much easier to swing in close matches I mean, in terms of raw points.
How so? I don't see why it would be. You just need to get a proportionate swing in votes either way.

I'll only think Crono will start to look bad
if he dips under 65%. The unadjusted 2004 stats have him winning with a
little under 64%, and even if you think both sets of 2004 stats
overrate Master Chief, you still have to acknowledge the release of
Halo 2. I fail to believe it did nothing.

Wait, what? If anything it's easier to gain % when you're at a lower %.
That would be contrary to basic arithmetic. It doesn't, and can't, work like that.
How so? I don't see why it would be. You just need to get a proportionate swing in votes either way.
Yes, proportionate. Going from 40% to 50% is a swing of equal magnitude as going from 20% to 25%. Perhaps the latter is easier in practice due to volatility at lower levels for the losing party (which means non-random factors and cheating can have more influence in making swings of equal magnitudes as higher vote levels), but certainly going from 20% to 30% is way harder than 40% to 50%.
This can be seen visibly by looking at swings from "early nighttime stabilization" in matches that are closer, vs. blowouts. In terms of raw percentage points, the former have swung to larger extents.

Ah, right, I see my mistake.
If Chief were splitting the votes 30-70 with Crono every update, and then suddenly he jumped to 40-60, that requires a higher proportionate increase in his voting base than 40-60 to 50-50. He'd be getting 133% of his votes with 30-40, and Crono would be getting 1/7th of his votes. Whereas from 40-50, Chief only needs 125% of his votes and Crono only needs to lose 1/6th of his.
However, in terms of raw numbers, going from 30-40 is exactly the same as 40-50. That's what I was thinking there. Uh... blame the night hours, or bias, for the initial line of thought.

Halo 2 + 7 vote loss vs Frog = 7 vote win vs Crono

Crono's making a push for 70%. If he can stay there for the next couple hours, I'll be very happy indeed.

wow, check out that prediction percentage. the Spring Contest theory finally loses some water.
I'm pretty impressed by MC here. I thought Crono might have well over 70% right now. I don't think he's gonna get 40%, but under a doubling is looking good. a lot of people were saying that Crono was going to destroy MC, which doesn't look like it's going to happen.

But don't forget that no matter how famous Crono is,he is from a game
that is more than 10 year old. While Halo has thousand fanboys that
would vote for Master Chief. And Master Chief is much more known than
Crono to the average gamer. And how only 38% had Bowser winning?I guess
because Kirby was a 1 seed right? And for tommorrow no matter who wins I
predict 25% of the brackets right.

Bowser did alright with that %, considering how little he had after winning against Ryu.
It's not great if you just take it as a percentage, but considering what he had to work with, he did O.K.

So I wake up to Crono barely above 68%. Ouch... with the XBox day vote,
this should easily drop below 65%, and probably even a bit further =(
Still not backin' down from my Crono>Mario final now though! To the top with my bracket!

If this match ends with Crono above 65% then it is alright.

I may end up regretting changing my 62% oracle prediction.. though
63-64% is still likely. with MC's day vote, though, you never know.

65% isn't going to happen though. Master Chief is an absolute monster
with the day vote. Finally a nice showing by the Chief. : )

Wow, it sickens me how I could be in the top 50 if I picked Ness over CJ. :-( (I'm among the 130+ that are together, 73)
Oh, and I still have a few more points to sacrifice for Magus.

holy snot. in the last 80 minutes, Crono's percentage has dropped from
69.14 to 67.40. if Chief keeps this up, he could come close to 38%
(maybe 40%, but i still doubt that one). ah,well.
and i wasn't around much yesterday (and i won't be around much this weekend), but i am amazed at how well Kirby did yesterday. better than Yoshi? that i did not expect.
