And he'll take down a ton of brackets with him.
Beautiful mental image... hahahaha... MC going down after getting slashed by Crono, and tons of brackets going down too... I expect Crono having much much less than 50% of the brackets behind him.
And I'm probably only going to stay up for Mario vs. Samus and the final, school causes me to have to sleep too early, and I can't stay up until 2 AM for a poll every night...

I dunno, I think Chief might just be resistant to blowouts too. Why?
Well, my mentality is, because I know Master Chief always gets anti-voted, I'll vote him against pretty much anybody, just to help cancel out the hate he doesn't deserve nearly as much of. Even if I prefer his opponent. Maybe many Halo fans think like I do... I guess it all depends on how many actually know that Halo (X-Box) is hated around here.
Well, that was really just hypothetical... I've actually never preferred one of Chief's opponents to him. (I'm not really a huge MC fanboy or anything either... despite my sig... it's as much his opponents as it is him)

Master Chief's path to the championship: Round 3: (2) Crono.
Halo 2 + 7 vote loss vs Frog = 7 vote win vs Crono

Technically, Crono is the one getting slashed... Plasma Sword and all...

And actually I expect Crono to have a decent amount of the brackets... he got around 40% vs Mario
last year, and while Master Chief will have a good deal of brackets in
round 3, I bet many will come from Master Chief over Zidane, Kefka, or
Tommy Vercetti, me thinks.

Heh...Vivi's projected to beat Sora based on this match with something
like 53%. Maybe Vivi did suffer SFF against Sephiroth, after all? (note
that I wouldn't be confident at all in taking Vivi over Sora)
Heh, even if you put Snake at 37% on BL, Vivi's just barely above his unadjusted 2K4 level. So, even assuming Snake is at -that- level might be too low. Heck, I could see Zelda stronger than people think, too. I'll still be conservative and estimate Snake to be at 37%, I suppose.

"Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?"
"Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think."

I'd take Vivi over Alucard in a heartbeat. Alucard barely broke 55%
against Kratos...I mean, Kratos isn't fodder, but...that's just not
impressive.

The DK match was good for him, I think. If you don't count that, he had the crushing of Crash.
erm, this contest? And the dk match was a disgrace, only salvaged by that he turned the second largest comeback, and first true largest successful comeback.

we don't know where Kratos is - I think this topic underrates him a
little. he did have one of the most successful games of the year, after
all. Vivi/Alucard would be a tossup, I think, with Alucard having a
slight advantage. I'm not sure on either of them.
anyway, I've gotta take a nap, so I'll take Snake with 63% of the brackets.

I, too, would have difficulty seeing Vivi lose to Kratos. Not saying
he'd beat Alucard, but it'd be close. I think any and all doubt that
Snake has increased since last year has gone out of the window, but
part of me wants to think this isn't ALL Snake.

oh, I'd take Vivi over Kratos for sure. Alucard's another notch up though.
anyone got this division's x-stats? I'd love to see where Alucard and Vivi rank.. I'm sure Vivi is up higher due to Sora absolutely sucking today. this is Snake increasing for sure, but he's not 38% strong.

Mc/Crono was tomorrow.

Thing is, "peak" Snake—i.e., Snake with this picture—might be at 38+%. It wouldn't be too surprising I think.
In an actual match with Link or Cloud, with this picture (Link/Cloud in the background role, looking small, and with their head turned), it wouldn't be too shocking to see Snake approach somewhat close to 40%, I think.
Well, maybe against Link it would, if he's gone up again, care of The Boost™ this time.
If true, then that much hated picture he had against Zelda may indeed have hurt him; and thus Bowser won't do as much better than Zelda as he should (sadly).

Hmm... I think Snake will do a fairly impressive job with the bracket
support here. Sora's bracket backing took a massive dive last round,
and I can't imagine many people putting midcard badasses Alucard and
Kratos over Mr. Badass himself. I say Snake with 60%.

Well, lookin' at 2k3, Lara/Zelda took about 43.5% of bracket-support
from Mega Man; whether that's because Zelda (and Lara) are big bracket
draws or Mega Man being a poor bracket draw, it's hard to tell. We've
seen how poor of a bracket-draw Vivi is though, so I'll agree to that
point...still kinda iffy though.
