This has now surpassed Knuckles vs Magus as my favorite match this contest. And I like Sora a good deal, too.

Sora finally stopped his percentage bleeding, but geez. I can think of only a few explanations.

1. Alucard is now around 22%, which given that he has consistently finished around 29% in every contest, seems somewhat ludicrous. Of course, that assumes Ganondorf stayed consistant from 2k3 to 2k4, which we can't know because of Link's SFF beatdown.

2. Snake is now stronger than Samus and would give Sephiroth a run for his money. And that's just assuming Sora stayed constant from 2k4. I find this equally hard to believe.

3. Pic Factor. Anyone would admit that the pic is more or less in Snake's favor, but I'm not sure that could give him this big a jump.

4. Snake is SFFing Sora. Unlikely, yes, but it fits all the data we have. This match looks a hell of a lot like Aeris-Sora, and given Sora's apparent strength increase from 2k4 to 2k5 through Alucard, the relative strength of Aeris and Snake against Sora would be just about equal. If you assume that there is a "PlayStation" voting demographic, that would swing heavily in Snake's favor in this match, the numbers make sense.

And before you ask why it hasn't shown up before, the only people Snake has previously faced who are primarily known for games on the Playstation and PS2 are: Raiden, Tanner, Squall, and Aeris. Of those, Aeris is the only one Snake DIDN'T get atleast 65% on, and IMO, that's because nothing can SFF FFVII on GameFAQS. This would also go a long way toward explaining how the hell Squall got so much stronger from 2k2 to 2k3, which KH Factor has always gotten all of the credit for in the past. This doesn't necessarily change that, but it would go some distance in explaining why his increase seemed so much bigger than Cloud and Sephiroth's.

(Incidentally, I'm aware that DRIV3R came out on X-Box as well, but my understanding is that it sold the vast majority of copies on the Playstation 2. Besides, it's not like coming out on X-Box is going to help Tanner on GameFAQs.)

I wonder if Snake has gotten Sora's dog tag yet. Speaking of which, what do you think it might say? I'd write one up, but I forgot the format of it from MGS2.

Alucard dropping would be more believable then Snake gaining one of the biggest increases of any character ever for no reason. MGS3 would not do that. Especially considering how little it sold.

I'd actually buy Snake/Tanner SFF before Snake/Sora. Today's match is yet another example of people willing to put an SFF tag on every match they don't understand, which is unbelievably sad, and I regret even bothering to read another of consolefreak's arguments. I should have learned my lesson when he tried arguing that FFTA sold more copies than FFT, but meh, I'm bored.

It's a debate with consolefreak involved. All such situations are on par with George Bush leading an investigation into why federal aid took so long to arrive to New Orleans.

Tanner suffered from the "There is no Reason to Vote for This Guy" factor. Currently, it's just Snake rolling on all cylinders. He's got the 1 seed, the amazing picture, Metal Gear Solid 3, and probably a very solid prediction percentage. To the Final Four, Snake!

And do you see how quickly they are getting the job done after they finally decided to help out? What prevented them from leaving immediately? I've heard that the National Guard in the vicinity were sitting there awaiting the official order to help out, as they were ready to go. I know this is the wrong topic, but it really pisses me off. I have plenty of college friends that are from New Orleans...

How did they invade the FFVIISB ?

Remember Vlado's "Nominate Tifa" topics? One of them got moved from FF7 General to FF7SB. Not only did he refuse to believe that he broke the TOS, but he and console started a massive war with the entire FF7SB and the Tifa topic became one of the most hilarious reads I've ever seen. There are people making themselves look like fools, and then there was Vlado and consolefreak in that topic. Even funnier was the fact that console himself started flooding a bunch of boards with Nominate Tifa topics, including a second one over on the FF7SB. It's a shame that all of this happened before the new mods were picked, really.

I kind of take offense at those kind of SFF arguments.

Anyone who knows me knows I love stats. I figure out formula for RPGs and such and you know, I get made fun of it because, yeah, I suppose it's a stupid hobby. But hey... what can you do? I enjoy it.

And so I took a hobby interest in the XP stats so I love working with them. When people make fun of them all the time, I kind of take it personally, because they're making fun of a hobby of mine. Even if I don't really use them as a bible, I still enjoy the manipulation of the statistics.

But I guess if there weren't people that called SFF after every match, I wouldn't have to worry about all those detractors to begin with. THE XP STATS ARE MISUNDERSTOOD!

BTW i'm sure we should give out a value to SFF like

Console SFF= value of 1
Company SFF=value of 2
Game SFF=value of 3

cause there is more of an overlapping fanbase for a game than a console and company.

I don't know how people can downplay MGS3's power amd keep a straight face. It's not on par with, say, MGS2 yet, but it has still sold WELL over 3 million copies and is continuing to grow. GameFAQs may very well account for a larger proportion of those sales than their numbers imply. And we know that sales aren't the be-all end-all of ANYTHING, or else Samus wouldn't be the favorite to win the contest.

People hate it when you use other websites. But at IGN, remember their contest?

It had Solid Snake Vs. Naked Snake. And the match went 50-50.

Basically, that was Naked Snake, going off of one game, MGS3, going toe-to-toe with the established main hero Solid Snake.

Assuming most of GameFAQs votes Naked Snake as Solid as well, there is definitely some impact to be had.

Though, speaking of SFF, fun fact: Sora is currently doing worse than against Aeris, who did SFF Sora to hell and back.
