Snake may get to the final four, but only because of serious bracket stacking. He'll be up against the winner of the weakest division, and he's not even the strongest character! The Gear-Dream division was deliberately set up to get Snake to the four.

It'll probably just be Fountain of Dreams from SSBM. Can't complain though. It's one of my favorite stages.

Fountain of Dreams might just be the prettiest stage in ssbm. The reflection techniques are so well done, it's an amazing stage.

And I don't know why people are wetting themselves over tomorrow's pic. Snake has the advantage, but it is his home turf, and everyone's been saying Snake is going to sneak up and kill Sora...but if Sora's got an exclamation point, which he does, that means Snake's been found and is about to be attacked. Sora is going to do better than Zelda tomorrow.

Honestly, I would rather Snake be in Crono's place...the Dream Division is full of strong opponents, as was his own Gear Division.

Oh come on... is anybody seriously going to dispute the fact that the winner of Dream would have no chance against whoever they went up against... from ANY division? Mario from Mushroom, Samus from Zebes, Snake from Gear, Suall/Vincent from Devil, Crono from Flood, Sonic from Chaos, Mega Man from 20XX. Or even, for all of you who think that Sonic won't win the Chaos, against Tifa for that matter? Give me a break. Dream was a bye-division, and putting it against Gear is only to get Snake to the four.

Match 51: (1) Solid Snake vs. (2) Sora

Past Performances

Solid Snake

Summer 2005
Beat Manny Calavera, 84.09% - 15.91%
Beat Zelda, 54.41% - 45.59%

Win - Lose Record
11-3

Sora

Summer 2005
Beat Agent 47, 70.73% - 29.27%
Beat Alucard Tepes, 55.36% - 44.64%

Win - Lose Record
4-2

Analysis

Solid Snake is facing some stiff competition this year to prove that he does belong in the noble 9. Next up is Sora from Kingdom Hearts, will he put an end to the noble 9 winning streak or will he end up like Zelda?

Unlike some people, Solid Snake performed around what I expected (I was off by .04%). Zelda is no easy opponent to defeat, but neither is Snake. Alucard is no easy opponent to defeat either, but Sora easily disposed of him. I guess Ganondorf’s boost didn’t come until after 2k4.

Since Snake beat Zelda without much trouble I don’t think Sora will be much of a threat to him. I would take Zelda over Sora, but I would expect it to be a close match. I’m expecting Sora to do worse than Zelda, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he does better then Zelda, but it won’t be by much.

I’ve found this match to be very boring (like most matches this round except by more). It won’t be close and there’s nothing we can use the results for unless Snake does a really good job on Sora. The only match that should make him sweat will be when he goes against Bowser.

charmander6000's Bracket: Solid Snake over Alucard Tepes

charmander6000's Prediction: Solid Snake wins, 55.47% - 44.53%

Not necessarily. It just means he heard something. If he doesn't find anything, he'll just turn back around. Besides, even if he were to turn the corner and find Snake, he'd still get owned.

Well crono deserves a break after his disgraceful set-ups with mario the past two years. Besides Megaman doesn't exactly have competition for his division, in fact the only people that did were dream and devil, neither of which had a real powerhouse in them in the first place (yes magus was supposed to be, but look what happened to him).

Today's performance by Samus pretty much cements a finals appearance by Mario. Even at 62-63% (my prediction), I still figured Mario would win comfortably, but she's not even close to that. There's an exponentially better chance of seeing Mario on the verge of a 60/40 win than seeing Samus win at all.

After all - small spoiler - Sora beat Sephiroth, he can easily beat Snake.

Considering some of the things Snake has done, I wouldn't be so quick to say Sora would beat him easily. Sephiroth was holding back anyway. One viewing of the Showdown of Fate will tell you that. Besides, there's really nothing he can do if Snake hits him when he's not prepared.

And I'm not saying Snake will kill Sora tomorrow (though I wouldn't be surprised if he did). He just won't be a threat.

I don't think there's much SFF in this one.

And there's no way to tell for sure, which makes this match rather worthless in determining much at all. The best we could determine is that Samus doesn't looked to have increased at all, unless she's not getting much SFF and Ganon's higher than his 2003 value. Woo, another possibility to throw in there.

It is hard to tell, Ganondorf was always on the fringe of the Noble Nine. Problem was, his match against Link completely threw out any 2004 results we had on him. Since performances can change dramatically in two years, it's hard to judge if he boosted or didn't.

Personally, I think he was boosted by Twilight Princess as Link was. He's probably a bit above his 2003 level, wild guess there.

Dream was a bye-division, and putting it against Gear is only to get Snake to the four

So a few weeks after CJayC was intentionally (sic) choosing the worst pics possible for Snake to cause him a loss - something some claim he's been doing for quite a while now - today's theory is that the Dream Division was set up as a bye to let Snake waltz into the Final Four?

A walk to the Final Four, bah. Solid Snake was put in this situation to have a tough-ass road to the Final Four. Obviously, Manny's not counting...but Zelda and Vivi both were expected to give Solid a good fight, and Sora ain't a pushover either (it doesn't hurt he's had KH:CoM since last year, too). Then you'd be silly to overlook Bowser (and Tidus and Ryu were both realistic prospects to duke it out with Solid, too).

Solid has no such thing as an easy walk to the Final Four.
