Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 236
From: UltimaterializerX | Posted: 9/6/2005 9:25:43 AM | Message Detail
Is there any attack in SSBM that personifies the character more than Ganondorf's Up Tilt? Think about it! The Up Tilt is extremely telegraphed, arrogant, and ultimately doomed to failure, just like the King of Evil himself!

Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:

Simple Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

Actually, Warlock punches can be used for edge guarding. Ganon's Up+A is completely useless.

Meh, I never use Ganondorf. Show's what I know. Though his Up+A is useful in the home run contest (at least it was for me; I don't know if that's the absolute best strategy or not).

I don't know about SSBM, but Ivy's Summon Suffering fits her character best out of any fighting game character I've ever seen. An absolutely brutal and heavy-damaging throw, perhaps the most analyzed and talked about throw in fighting game history, and is always used for mindgame purposes by the expert Ivy players. Even if an Ivy player isn't going to use SS, he makes sure the threat is there, and that alone is enough to shake up most other players.

Here's a question. We've seen to blowouts (technically) already. What do you think is going to be the closest match of the third round?

I'm going for either Kirby/Bowser or Vincent/Squall

I very much doubt Kirby/Bowser will be close. My money's riding on Vincent/Squall. Though with the way Mega handled himself last round, there's an outside chance of him struggling with Yoshi. -_-

Bowser, honestly. As impressive as Kirby was on Tidus, Bowser was even better on Ryu, a stronger opponent. Add in SFF to the mix and the deal is sealed.

I dunno...i think basing it strength on Tidus and Ryu is kinda shakey...neither are exactly power houses...

The only good third round match is Squall/Vincent. The other ones are fairly meh...Bowser/Kirby is the only match with even an outside chance of being interesting, and I think Bowser will do at least as well on Kirby as he did on Ryu.

For the record, Samus was projected to get 59.01% in this match based on a 2003 Ganon. It would 55.11% based on a spring Ganon.

And this is an unimpressive performance?

Oh, forget it. None of us really know what we're talking about.

10 Ganondorf 34.72%
11 Zero 33.96%

Gannondorf and Zero are right next to eachother in Strength.

Look at yesterdays poll.

Look at todays poll.

Give Ganondorf 1% of SFF to be fair, and tell me what you think.

Samus wins. factor in the very possible Zero drop and Ganondorf incraese, and Mario is dead.

Although I do think Mario is winning. It's sad, but I've given up hope. As long as he beats Sephiroth, I'll be okay with it.

Also for Dorf to be at his SpC numbers right now, Samus only has to have SFF him 5.6%. Half of what we said Link did to Mega Man.

And this is an unimpressive performance?

. . .

Where did I say this performance was unimpressive? I've said repeatedly that this is what she's expected to do. There's nothing "bad" or "impressive" about it, really.

But my opinions are that she's actually getting a bit of SFF here, enough to make a noticeable difference, but not obscene amounts.

XD indeed. With that, I'm off to increase my prediction for Snake. At least SS finally gets a good pic though.

And the insanely high vote totals from yesterday is surrounded by a match with the lowest, then after it, a match that is looking to be lower than that... Imagine if Samus vs. Ganondorf barely breaks 84k? I guess Labor day is why we saw the voting jump..
