Samus really isn't doing badly. Outperforming sephiroth on gannon is impressive even if it doesn't live up to some people's ridiculous expectations. Just because link sff'd the living hell out of gannon doesn't mean that characters outside the loz series can do the same.

Outperforming sephiroth on gannon is impressive even if it doesn't live up to some people's ridiculous expectations.

It doesn't need to live up to people's ridiculous predictions in order to not be impressive. Anyone calling it "very impressive" is simply out of their mind. This match is going about how it should.

And for the record, should Samus win the main bracket, Sephiroth will be beating her.

This round HAD to be the home field advantage round as these are essentially the division finals. Next round will be filled with 1 vs 1 seeds since there are 8 divisions. You couldn't determine who gets homefield advantage out of seeding alone, not to mention it would be completely unfair for lower seeds who WON their divisions....

Samus doing more then sephiroth on gannon is expected? K.

Sephiroth was expected to do more actually. Either Samus is doing as expected or she's getting some SFF worth noting. In either case, there's no reason to call it "very impressive." It's quite foolish.

Based on what?

Sephiroth strikes me as a "new" Sonic, in that there are a number of characters that people are just itching to take over Sephiroth given the opportunity or they just are dying to see one of them overcome Sephiroth. Samus's performance today is not making me quiver about the possible match in the Tournament of Champions. Sephiroth has been second and third in this contest from the beginning. I don't believe he'll be losing his spot anytime soon. I'm not expecting him to do any dropping again either.

And while I'm at it, anyone who says Samus is performing badly is equally as foolish as someone calling this performance very impressive. Honestly, this is just about what Samus should be expected to get her.

I'm one to believe that Samus should be getting far lesser here than she actually is, but I'm chalking that up to SFF more than anything else. I just can't begin to understand where people are coming from calling this performance impressive or calling this performance bad. At best, it would simply show that Samus isn't capable of SFFing other strong Nintendo characters -- if one believes Ganon is at his 2003 value.

If you really look at it, which characters from Nintendo have been really impressing more than any others? Characters from the Mario series.

Sephiroth was expected to do more actually.

But he didn't. Call me crazy, but I consider results to be more reliable then speculation.

Either Samus is doing as expected or she's getting some SFF worth noting. In either case, there's no reason to call it "very impressive." It's quite foolish.

She's outdoing what sephiroth did. That is impressive. Tell me how the hell it isn't.

So that's a long way of saying "based on my expectations of him" then?

Argh! Samus is barely keeping 60%... she might go under in a few updates. C'mon Ms. Aran, stay above 60... regardless, she looks stronger than Sephiroth, which is great news.

Poor Sora in that match pic... I might have to up my Snake oracle pick, due to Sora's unfortuneate pic draw. Still votin' for Sora, though.

But he didn't. Call me crazy, but I consider results to be more reliable then speculation.

It's quite simple to explain with stats as well, since one could actually believe that Ganon has boosted higher than his 2003 value, which makes Sephiroth's performance not nearly as bad as one might initially believe.

She's outdoing what sephiroth did. That is impressive. Tell me how the hell it isn't.

You know, there's a little thing called SFF here.

So that's a long way of saying "based on my expectations of him" then?

It's a mixture of that and statistical 'evidence,' although it isn't much of full blown evidence as people are undoubtedly going to agree until we see the match take place.

If you really look at it, which characters from Nintendo have been really impressing more than any others? Characters from the Mario series.

Characters on the DS. Kirby anyone? I'd say samus as well, but apparently getting 70% on frog and outdoing sephiroth on gannon isn't impressive somehow. I'm not going to arge the point any longer, I'll just wait for her later matches and see. Mario can beat her, I just hope nobody starts to call him a heavy favourite, or a favourite at all.

There is little, if any, SFF in this match.

There is no way that is certain. I'm not going to say you're just wrong, but I will say that I disagree completely. This match isn't as telling as one might initially believe. People should be quite split when it comes to whether or not they believe SFF is in this match or not.

And then dropped for this match making samus unimpressive?

You know, there's a little thing called SFF here.

Obviously, but we don't know how significant it is, if it's even significant at all.

It's a mixture of that and statistical 'evidence,' although it isn't much of full blown evidence as people are undoubtedly going to agree until we see the match take place.

All I'm saying is that samus stands a chance, and a good one at that. Then again I wouldn't expect you to go against ff7 on a toss up match.

Just to continue to give some more clarity on the subject, I don't want anyone to think that I believe Sephiroth will just flat out rock Samus, because that isn't the case at all. Should Samus make it, I'm actually expecting something similar to 2002 with a 52 - 53% victory in favor of Sephiroth.
