My pick still stands. Samus to win it all, and then to beat Sephiroth. At this point, I'm ready to call Mario a bigger threat to Samus than Sephiroth.

I'm one of the few rooting for Zero... I secretly thought that Zero might slightly underperform against Mario similar to how Mega Man underperformed against Link, but that wouldn't NEARLY explain this... There is clearly a new voting trend this year.

And this clears ANY beliefs that Mario couldn't take care of Mega Man. My bracket still is fine by the way....

Mario's certainly impressin'; if he finishes like this, well, he's gonna beat Samus. Seriously, Zero is gettin' beat up hardcore right now.

Here's a simple comparison we can do: both Mario and Samus will have faced one new character, one controversial character from the year before, and one SFF-able character...while not great, I'll post what we got right now (still on my bad computer, so I'm estimating with the numbers:

NEW CHARACTERS:
Mario: ~81% on Joanna Dark
Samus: ~87% on Yuri

SFF-ABLE CHARACTERS:
Mario: ~83% on Ness
Samus: TBA

CONTROVERSIAL CHARACTERS:
Mario: TBA
Samus: ~71% on Frog

I get the feelin' that Mario's gonna be comin' out more impressive out of this quick comparison.

People seem to be forgetting that Samus got 70% against Frog...I know Frog is a weakling, but it still means something.

2k3 stats were worthless ever since the 2k3 contest ended. The stats make for a somewhat decent guide (suggestions, if you will), but trying to use stats from older contests to make predictions in current contests typically isn't a good idea. See: Magus/Knuckles.
