The concept of the noble nine (should be changed to top ten really) could still be kept if one of them lost. Just replace them with the character that won.

But then it wouldn't be the noble nine, because the entire concept behind them is that nobody outside the noble nine can beat somebody in it. ever.

I didn't know that. Thought it was just the top nine characters. It might not happen this contest, but they will eventually become weaker and lose to characters outside the noble nine.

That's weird. Tifa took a .07% drop in percentage, but her vote lead only dropped by like 3.

I think it's too late for Luigi to comeback.

Wow, I've never seen an egg as large as this. Surpassing even Samus in round 1, and now this? Well, my bracket is pleased, so whatever. I really want to see what Sonic will do to her now... a substantial Luigi boost isn't exactly out of the question after what he did last round, but I think we'll all raise our WTF flags in unison if he ends up ahead of Squall.

Perhaps Aeris needs to come back to see how she'd perform. She might not be as high as she was in 2003 anymore.

I would think Aeris and Tifa are both ahead of Vincent, so I think Luigi would have had to increase for her to put up this performance. I think Aeris and Tifa are right around the same level, slight edge to Aeris. Tifa had more screen time in FF7, but Aeris was more memorable. The X-Factor for her is Kingdom Hearts, which I think makes her stronger.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see Tifa ahead of Aeris, but I give the slight edge to Aeris.

From: rpgapzx | Posted: 9/2/2005 9:43:49 AM | Message Detail
I'd agree it's close. There's large debate on the level in which KHF is wearing off and how much of that is normal decay of FF7.

Additionally, to say Aeris is more memorable is really arbitrary. To say that Tifa gets more screentime is fact. Sure, the spoiler and ending make her most memorable, but you do watch Tifa dance around Cloud the whole game, take control of her for an integral part of the story and arguably, if there's any character the game focuses on outside of Cloud in the last leg of the game, it's her.

She's likely going to have these reasons against Sonic... in sprite form, though. Don't know what that'll give.

For now it DOES look like Aeris > Vincent > Tifa... then again, we haven't seen Aeris since 2003. But if it IS FF7's decay, then Link is going to laugh his way to the championship, and he might even meet Samus on the way.

There has to be decay from both FF7 and KH, its just a matter of how much and whether or not another year's of decay is really that significant after FF7 has been around so long. How much AC's hype cancels out that decay is also important too.

Squall have proven his worth in this contest.

6 wins and he have never lost to a none Noble niner.

Nor has he ever lost a close match.

I think Auron would not be able to be Squall, thought I wouldnt be suprises if he did.

A bit surprised to not see Luigi @ 47% yet. Meh, soon enough, no doubt. A face pic of Tifa definitely has something to do with Luigi's impressive showing, however assuming next round is in fact the sprite round, Tifa will be giving everyone fits when she breaks 45% on Sonic... but not as many fits as when Sora beats Snake.

Crono was feared because CT characters were underperforming (Magus choking against Knuckles and Frog getting decimated by Samus). But I don't recall anyone saying for sure fringe characters (such as Tifa and Vincent) could take Crono out. Hell, I don't even think Mega Man was feared as a potential loser to the two.
