Indeed, two pieces of evidence to show Tifa could beat Sonic or even come close to winning the contest, right now.

Also, using the current value of 57%, not 56% as it was, it's even closer to 42%.

Thats assuming, of course, Luigi increased like a bat out of hell for
absolutely zero reason. Well besides Super Mario 64 DS. Still the type
of increase you guys are talking would make Bowser raise an eyebrow.

He didn't raise for no reason.
He was caught behind two lots of potential SSF last year and if you combine that with this "Nintendo Boost", it all makes sense.

Yeah but no Nintendo character has gained the level of boost you guys
are saying Luigi got. Also we have pretty reliable 2k3 numbers for him.
Luigi would have to increase more than Ganon or Bowser could ever of
dreamed of to reach the level you guys are talking about.

Well, there's also Link/Yoshi SFF (Yoshi is up 2.5-3% if Laharl is static) and Yoshi/Luigi SFF.

No Nintendo character has even been double SFF'd, appeared in some new titles of varying interest (Including a remake/rerelease of one of the best games ever) and then actually came back to the contest. On the other hand, non-Nintendo cahracters have made gains this large IIRC.

Thats exactly what your all doing. Luigi didn't gain that much and Vyse and KOS aren't constant. Tifa is beating a weak Nintendo character (who would still probably lose to Yoshi) by like a thousand or so votes. Big deal. I will be extremely surprised if she comes anywhere close to beating Sonic.

Yeah, sure, KOS and Vyse just dropped like rocks nearly in proportion to eachother for no reason and with no relationship between them. Your logic is flawless, and by flawless I actually mean baseless. Grasping at straws? Not one but two characters are putting Tifa at an insane level, and the further this match goes the closer those two characters get to predicting Tifa at the same level. There's no grasping at straws here, even if she doesn't win she's certainly outranking every non-Noble Nine Square character.

Exciting? No. I was barely concious last night and I called 58% for
Tifa. It's, frankly, predictable. Are the implications good? Yes. While
we jumped the gun on Vincent we know have two characters pointing Tifa
in the same direction. She may not reach the same lofty heights as
those character put her (even I'm sceptical and as such I'm pegging her
8% lower), but she looks too damn good to deny the possibility.

I'm still going to wait until the Tifa/Sonic match to declare a winner.
I think its entirely possible for Tifa to beat Sonic. I don't think
either of them has it in the bag already though.
Personally I'd like to see Tifa beat Sonic so for once a Noble Nine member will loose to an outsider, of course we could see that first with Bowser over Snake

The only thing I have against Tifa > Sonic is the decimation of my
bracket. this is the first year I've ever been in the top 50, and while
there are 4 guarenteed lost points I'm willing to believe that if the
rest of the matches go according to my bracket I could be in the prizes.

Finish the sentance, Gooper. No Nintendo character has been double
SFFed, had reason to increase AND made it back into the contest. Of
course Pikachu was double SFFed (and was behind Cloud in 2k2) but he
didn't come back in 2k4 to prove that he was highly underrated.

RPG fans moved on to a new cult title already and stopped caring about Xenosaga, Disgaea, SoA et al. The next time it comes around, expect Lloyd and Kratos (if they even return) to be even weaker than this time. It's not a new concept, I worked that one out before Yoshi/Laharl, and sure enough, Laharl was poor. The only surprise is that he didn't do even worse and get tripled.
I'm not surprised at all that Tifa isn't doing better against Luigi. This is more or less what I expected.

"This is more or less what I expected."
You do realize that regardless of the truth of that statment (you expecting it) I'm calling bs, right? You just happen to expect that two completely unrelated characters would drop proportionately? Right. And Laharl? There's absolutely no sign that he has dropped. Given Yoshi's only losing matches were to Bowser and Link (potential SFF in both) he should be higher than previously expected, and he's right where most of us thought he would be.

and Luigi is pushing back with the day vote. he's gone from 43.17% to
43.75% in 30 minutes and even narrowly won a couple of updates.
and then there were two...... now, it really looks like whoever wins Samus vs. Mario is winning this thing. and it really looks like Tifa will not be able to take Sonic at this point. even if Luigi has risen to Auron's 2K3 value (around 29% x-stat value), then Tifa will still be a little below Aeris's 32.8% 2K3 value if she wins with 56%.

When does the day vote really go full-swing?
Luigi's doing pretty good right now in stalling Tifa, but I'm worried Tifa might start increasing again.
At least it makes Luigi look stronger if he has higher percentage, though I'd rather he decrease Tifa's lead more than he's doing.

Good job, Luigi. Sonic looks pretty safe at this point. I really don't
see Luigi getting 45% on Sonic, no matter what anyone wants to say. At
this point, it seems like Vincent might have the edge on Tifa, too.
Then again, Tifa doesn't have her, ahem, "added benefits" helping her out this round.
