Again, I declare HM's opinion invalid due to his huge bias for
FF7 and his favorite character, Cloud. The fact is, Cloud would have taken it if Advent Children had come out, but it didn't. Link is going to take care of business as usual, methinks.

Vincent underperformed expectations of people who were putting him
at a level that would give him a chance against Crono. I'm positive
that Dante has increased from his 2004 value. Vincent shouldn't be that
far off from my original projection before the contest.
That's certainly a change; it wasn't too long ago when "DMC3 hasn't sold enough to give Dante any sort of boost." He's performing around Zelda's 2k3 level right now, which is under expectations for a lot of people. If it makes you feel better, he did beat my expectations of ~28%.

I haven't bothered to check all the possibilities, but I figure it's
quite clear that Luigi isn't anywhere near as low as 2004 or 2003
suggest. Without even using the stats (last year or based on this
year), I could very well see Tifa breaking 60% on Luigi.

There has been only ONE match before this where TJF had an arguably
important influence. The question is, despite Vyse being no Freeman, is
he still fodderific enough to be a victim of TJF?

Meh, cult chars seems to be dropping like flies in this contest.
Just look at KOS-MOS, or Alucard.

That's certainly a change; it wasn't too long ago when "DMC3 hasn't sold enough to give Dante any sort of boost."
That was before I read the wrong data for Devil May Cry 2, which sold under 500,000 and I thought it was near a million. Given that he had a game boost him up that sold so low, I could very well see DMC3 helping him out.
But then again, Xenosaga II came out and KOS-MOS got her ass kicked... hard. If I had to choose, though, I would say Dante boosted from whatever above his 2004 value, whether that is just going back to his 2003 value or beyond.
He's performing around Zelda's 2k3 level right now, which is under expectations for a lot of people.
I would assume this is based on Dante in 2004, correct? But I actually didn't know where this performanced placed him regardless -- I never bothered to check. Thanks though.

I don't know why you are so excited about the (slim) possibility of
Tifa overcoming Sonic and Mega Man, HM. You are going to vote Mega Man
over Tifa, correct? Hell, who are we kidding, you are gonna jump on the
"FF7 is teh pwn" bandwagon and vote Tifa over anybody.

I'll accept Link > Cloud so long as Sephiroth > Samus, Crono,
Mario or whoever. I hope the Nintendo boost doesn't put any of those 3
over him (well Crono is nothing to worry about).

Specifically, Vincent based on 2k3 Dante is at 30.66% on BL. 2k4 Dante
puts him at 29.69%. Personally, I'd guess Vincent is around 31%.

If Tifa beats Sonic, I'll vote for her throughout the rest of the contest. With Vincent performing like this, I'm just going to shift my support to Tifa. She appears to be far more capable of doing some damage based on Vincent's performance today.

Mario is now near Sephiroth, I think (well, after Bowser got 40 on him,
Mario must be within 3 or so percent) so it is obvious that Tifa is no
threat to win the contest...but....it still makes me angry that this
site is so FF7-biased that any character from it can do so well. (Note
- Tifa and Vincent are two of my three favorite FF7 characters, but it
still makes me sick)

I have Cloud winning the Tournament of Champions because I was betting
on Advent Children coming out in time. Although, I hope he can win for
my bracket's* sake, I doubt he will.
Although, Cloud winning is not improbable and the win margin is nothing Cloud can't overcome, there's just not anything that seems to imply that he will.
*On a personal level, I'm rooting for Link. I voted for him in every match he's ever been in, and I won't stop now.

HaRRicH was kidding about the "poll not working" link.
For better or for worse, I was actually serious; I meant it in a light-hearted tone, mind you, but I actually thought it would help get his attention, heh. Afterall, we speculated that was the reason we got the cosplay Seph/Ganon pic...so maybe it does work. Maybe.
Ole' Leonhart, still spreadin' his lies; Knuckles winning the division is second to nothing.

Nintendo being a beast so far and the AC delay don't mean an assured
Link victory, but thinking Cloud won't have a much harder time is
ludicrous. If he wins, well... more power to him, I guess.

Just out of curiosity (because of the boost nintendo apparently has
gotten) what have polls in the past (like a year ago and further back)
that ask if people have a GCN/Xbox/PS2 gotten under the percentage who
own a gamecube? I'm wondering because I know a recent set of polls
showed about 40% have a gamecube, which was the same result the ps2
got. I'm wondering, because maybe the site's viewers has become
slightly more nintendo oriented.

Actually, Squall has beaten my favorite characters in order with rising
percentages. He'd have to get less than 55% on Tidus to work that out
properly, but that wouldn't happen. Of course, he'd need to break 60%
on Knuckles tomorrow to even maintain the trend anyhow.

Nintendo is doing better overall in this contest. That combined with
the TP hype pretty much guarantees that Link will be stronger this
year, while we have no reason to believe that Cloud has gotten any
stronger. Especially with Vincent bombing. Also, if I was a Square fan
(and I'm not) I'd be voting for Mario over Samus, because Samus stands
the best chance out of anyone of upsetting Sephiroth. If Nintendo
really is that strong, the ToC finals should be Link vs Samus.

It's more realistic than expecting Knuckles to lead during his absolute worst time.
