"Vlado's analysis nearly makes my head explode, and it baffles me that people are using Squall's performance against Geno as reasoning for his weakness."

As a matter of fact, seeing how the higher-tier characters do against the fodder is a great way to predict who will win, x-stats aside. If you crush an inferior opponent, then you're looking good. If you struggle vs an inferior opponent, then you're going to go down to the elite. This is why Mario will win the tournament: he hasn't been sucking like everyone else.

as for the moderations, people seem to be upset that Shake is now banned and are thus baiting mods into moderating them. it's quite stupid, really.

I tend to think of those "monkey see, monkey do" moderations as GF's way of taking out the garbage. It's a natural way of life, just let it take it's course.

Today's subliminal thought is:

it's reminding me that GF is comprised of a lot of 13 and 14 year olds. it's like middle school gossip, only over the internet.

Vlado's is also excellent.

I really don't see how anybody could think his logic was anything remotely resembling intelligence, personally.

I really can't detect sarcasm over the internet. As much as people like to think their sarcastic jokes are obvious, they're usually not. They seem obvious to you because you KNOW the tone of voice you would use.

But nonetheless, I'll still say "my bad."

Overlooked this gem in Vlado's analysis. Oh, how I only wish this were true.....

And kindly tell me why you would do so without throwing Bomberman's 2k3 value at me. Then again, you don't think Kirby's performance validated his 2004 number, so I won't bother.

Unless you're trying to tell me that Kirby dropped in 2004, only to take a very large jump the very next year, Bomberman was stronger than he was in 2003.

Besides, the gap between Kirby and Bomberman was obviously smaller than it was in 2003, so either Bomberman went up or Kirby went down. After seeing Kirby this year, I'd be more inclined to believe the former.

The point is that there are two different ways to extraplolate Squall. We don't know for sure which one is right. So Knuckles has more of a chance at the upset than you're giving him credit for.

Even if you drop Squall through a constant Bomberman 2k3, he would STILL beat constant Knux 2k3.

Once again, after seeing Kirby this year, I'd be more inclined to believe Kirby. Besides, Bomberman 2002 fits in with what Squall did rather well. And I don't really like the idea of Kirby bouncing all over the place. 2003, he goes up. 2004, he goes down. 2005, he goes up.

Nah, ain't buyin' it.

i see about the moderations.

as for Squall/Knuckles - Knuckles was just ahead of Kirby in 2K3, which was Knuckles' weakest year (at least based on his performance against Snake). now, Knuckles appeared to increase in 2K4 (he certainly did much better against Snake which could have been partially or even mostly a Snake drop). so, if Knuckles increased a bit more (which seems possible since he beat Magus. yes, Magus was overrated and likely dropped a bit, but it's equally likely that Knuckles increased a bit, too) and Squall drops a bit from his 2K3 performance (which appeared to be Square's strongest year), then Knuckles can win this.

oh, and i just got the October 2005 issue of EGM and the cover is a rather cool picture of Cloud from FF7:AC. maybe it'll give him the boost he needs to beat Link.
