Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 225
From: ChichiriMuyo | Posted: 8/30/2005 3:34:51 AM | Message Detail
I would whole heartedly agree that Vincent going up is a good thing, but I don't think it's fair to say being on the level of Auron in 2k4 isn't respectable. Yes, I know, you want him to look moreso, but he certainly isn't failing, adn that's if Dante was static. If Dante = 2k3 Dante then Vicent is about equal to 2k3 Bowser. Not too shabby if you ask me.

No big deal. Dante has done that before and Vincent took it back.

This match could actually end up close. That's an interesting turn of events after how hyped vincent was.

Eh, looked like just a hiccup...maybe. In any case, this is a compromise between both parties, I'd say. Dante doesn't get blown out by Vincent, while Vincent gets a near-elite rank for a newcomer. Edge to Vincent since he's going to the third round, of course. ; D

And it's eerie considering all of the comparrisons that have been drawn between the two. But I guess it's fair as long as Vincent wins here, takes Squall/Knux down then bows out in a respectable fashion to Crono.

Oddly enough, that's as much as I had honestly hoped for before he faced Kerrigan. Rd 3, near-elite and Dante not to look like a total punk (cause I like Dante as well). Works out, I suppose.

He isn't totally stalled out, and there's no signs of who will take it. I think the idea that they will split it fairly evenly will hold up here, though giving slight advantage to Vincent enough to maintain his current % to the end, at least.

No. Dante is pretty much through. DK/MC was a one of a kind match, and could probably have only happened between those two characters. DK is legendary for choking away leads, while Master Chief is monstrously strong with the day vote. That was a successful comeback win of unparalleled proportions, and it's 99.99% certain that Dante won't be pulling the same miracle today.

So, yeah. Give up any hope you might have had.

And let's not even talk about Kerrigan. JC Denton able to pull the Queen ***** of the Universe to the wire? That just makes no sense.

Surprisingly so, unless DMC3 has something to say about that.

Again, damn. What a choke. Well, we can say Aeris > Vincent right about now. Once more, unless it's all DMC3, which I don't find really likely.

*sheepishly raises hand*

i was the Vincent fanboy who said that he could have a legitimate shot at Crono. although, i did admit that i would not call it with any amount of certainty until after seeing how Vincent performed on Dante. instead, it looks like Crono will easily make the finals and Vincent vs. Squall will be a good match. but, if Knuckles beats Squall, not only will i laugh my butt off, but then be very worried about Vincent vs. Knuckles. how messed up would that be if Knuckles makes the Elite 8?

also, with the site's apparent shift towards Nintendo, i am seriously worried about Tifa vs. Luigi, especially without her massive melons in the match pic to help her out.

Seriously, Squall > Vincent is looking good right about now, unless Vincent can pull away.

And no more talk about Vincent > Crono. None.

Actually, Vincent's gains have been a little erratic. Sometimes he gets 58-61% of the update and sometimes he gets only 51-53%. He lost a few updates as well but not enough to indicate trouble or anything like that.

Lol, people are STILL giving Vincent the championship? This all smells like "not confident, get swipes in now before he chokes against Dante" rather than "let's wait for 24 hours when he's killed Dante and people actually have a sensible read on him, THEN talk him up".

Squall > Knuckles > Vincent

Book it.

So, now that I am over my minor bout of schadenfreude, if Vincent finishes with 54% on Dante, where does that place him in the X-Sts and where does that place Kerrigan assuming a static Dante? And the same thing if Dante were 30% on BL.

If Dante's at 30% on BL, Vincent's at 32.4% assuming a 54/46 here. If you're using the 2004 SFF-affected ones, Vincent's around Auron's level. Which would make Kerrigan sub-Guybrush. If I've done that right, I'm having a bit of a mental block here.

In any case, Kerrigan looks like uber-fodder, sadly.

If I wanted to make graphs depicting the percentage of votes a character receives in a certain time, would it be better to go with 15 minutes or 1 hour intervals? Hour intervals would be easier and fit more nicely, but 15 minutes would be more accurate in showing voting patterns.

Of course, it all depends on whether I have the time and whether I don't get banned again.

I've always thought that when people talk about the "elite", they meant the noble nine characters (at least the stronger ones anyway.) Not sure where this performance places Vincent in the rankings. Perhaps in the tier just below the noble nine?
From: The n00b Avenger | Posted: 8/30/2005 7:08:34 AM | Message Detail
The Noble nine is the noble nine.

To me, elite is pretty much everything above mid-carder but below Noble Nine. Pretty much, above 30 on BL=Elite to me.

I haave a feeling that Tifa-Luigi will look alot like this one, a 55-45 match. I think at this point the sub cloud-sephiroth characters of FFVII look something like this Aeris>=Tifa>=Vincent. At absolute best I think Tifa and Vincent are equal to Aeris. At worst they're alittle bit below that around Ryu.

This match doesn't necessarily reflect poorly on Tifa. We assumed that Vincent was strong, but we didn't have any previous data on Kerrigan to back that up. Vyse is a different story. Tifa could still easily be worth around 35% on Link.
