It funny, but the worst owning I've suffered so far involves my memory only being reliable for 12 times as long as the random passerbys. In the time since 2k3 I've moved twice, had an altogether erratic job and I still manage to get lambasted for not keeping details of a 2 year old match stright in my mind. Mind you both matches were from before I was actaully a stats junky (which didn't happen until after SC2k3 was fiinshed) and I still can at least remember the basic details of them, if not the complete circumstances.

On the other hand, taking a quote of mine that directly and explicitly states that I was not claiming that Vincent was greater than Crono is taken for the exact opposite meaning in an attempt to try to use it against me is merely amusing. I appreciate your self owning, it make me feel better about Vincent not exceeding my expectations.

And "Too damn close" doesn't imply a win, in fact it doesn't imply a set %. I consider this current match too damn close as well. What's your point? I need a match to be more than 45-55 before I don't consider it close. Perhaps my expectations are different, but I don't need a match to end like MC vs. Frog to sit back and say "damn, that brand spanking new character is too damn close to the elites". By no means was I calling even a 49-51 match, and if anyone would have asked me directly then I wouldn't have said anything better than 47% for Vincent, that being a non-statistical rough estimate of best case scenario. So again, thank you for missing the entire point of the post you copied, and I hope English classes go well for you this semester.

Not exactly. If DMC 3 did as much as its supporters claim and Vincent does like he did against Kerrigan he can pull through with a 45-55 barring bad luck. Given higher vote totals may mean bad luck for Sonic (a la 2k3) that could still make the match interestingly close.

Well, yeah, I was speaking generally. I think Vincent would make the match interesting, and would come close a la Aeris in 2k3. But I think for all intents and purposes we would call Sonic the favorite as of this day.

While I can't speak for him, the fact that more and more time has passed since Skies was released and a new influx of casual voters can't be good for the cult game. Again, I don't think Tifa's anywhere near Seph. She's still a threat to Sonic--but I still recommend just waiting and seeing.

Here's where things start to break down, as you need to drop either the "since" or the "so", and either add an "and" before "since" or start a new sentence there. But on the whole it seems fairly clear that you're claiming Mario is stronger than Crono.

And I think we both agree this is the most important part, where you say Crono vs Vincent would be "too damn close". "Too damn close" doesn't imply 45-55 to anyone in this topic, except you, supposedly. That's especially true after in the same post you've claimed both that Vincent is as strong as Mario, and that Mario is stronger than Crono.

To you maybe not, but then again I remember the same thing being said about Ulti's comments on the 57-43 match that SSBM had with MGS2. It's a matter of perception and, often times, hyperbole. It is not, however, a descriptor of expected outcomes. If there was soem character saying I couldn't use the phrase too damn close unless it was an old-school MvC affair of the next coming of Frog vs MC then i wouldn't have used it. As it stands, it's merely a set of words implying that I expected a good match with a character doing far, far better than expected. Lay off it, even the "voice of reason" has stepped in and said concisely that I never made claim to anything but a 55-45 match.

1: There are no debates more interesting. The hopes of anyone who wanted to see a real shakeup in these contests are dashed and those who didn't are a bunch of friggin haters

2: Most arguments are stupid, that's never stopped me from wasting away hours on them before and it apparently hasn't occured to some other people. It's entertainment, it's like a wrestling match with front row seats. Or, in my case, turnbuckle seats.

Yes, a terrible grammatical error on my part. Thankfully it doesn't distort the message for the majority.

It makes the words more interesting to read, and if you'd mind catching up with the topic you'll see that it has been mentioned by an outside source that the only figure I ever pulled up was 45% for Vincent. I may have used stronger words than you would have, but I never once changed my opinion on the actual %.
