Since everyone is debating Tifa/Luigi, I thought I'd whip up a quick match pic. What do you think?

Yeah, as long as he stays over 71% he shows absolutely no sign of weakening AND the possibility of increasing if MM somehow actually was SFFed by Link.

I don't think there will be any noticeable SFF at all in Squall/Vincent, and I definitely don't think Aeris would SFF him. She may be from FFVII, but she's not that well beloved that she would pound Squall into the ground.

Of course she won't, she's not Cloud.

But any SFF, no matter how big or how small, should go FF VII's way.

I dunno, it looks like Sora could go rounds with Squall and she pounded his ass like a stake.

In my opinion, just 4 characters can win now - Mario, Crono, Vincent and Tifa.

wrong. it should be:

In my opinion, just 4 characters can win now - Mario, Samus, Vincent and Tifa.

Samus did to Frog what Crono is doing to Vercetti right now. would anyone honestly take Vercetti over Frog? if MC is still at his 2K3 value (which it seems like he is, if not stronger) and Frog is even with MC, then they are both still higher than Vercetti's 2K3 value. and that was Vercetti's strongest year. after his performance against Kefka, it's likely that he dropped even further. based on that, i see no way that Crono could beat Samus.

i also see no reason why anyone would count Samus out of this already.

I don't think Crono can beat Samus, I really don't think anyone but Mario can beat Samus. Because of this, I think Crono still has a chance to win if he meets Mario in the finals, but not if he meets Samus.

Sure, you can take MC's 2k3 value or you can take LS's 2k5 value which gives you a solid matchup between Samus and Crono.

Honestly guys, if Mario beats Samus, for whatever reason, he's not jobbing to Crono.

So, unless Tifa or Vincent does something unimaginable, whoever wins Samus/Mario wins this contest.

Btw, if you set Frog = Sp2k5 LS, Samus actually underperformed big time.

I think Frog would take him easily, and so would DK. Vercetti's not where he was before. Lowering him down to Kefka's level predicts this match almost perfectly.

well, i don't see it anywhere in this topic, so for tomorrow's reference here's the x-stat values:

2K2 Crono vs. 2K2 Dante - Crono with 66.6%
2K3 Crono vs. 2K3 Dante - Crono with 62.99%
2K4 Crono vs. 2K4 Dante - Crono with 65.73%

2K3 Squall vs. 2K3 Dante - Squall with 55.5%
2K4 Squall (unadjusted) vs. 2K4 Dante - Dante with 55.03%
2K4 Squall (adjusted) vs. 2K4 Dante - Squall with 56.92%

so, i think that if Vincent barely beats Dante, he will lose to Squall. if Vincent gets the 54-57% range, Vincent vs. Squall will be a close match. if Vincent finishes in the 58-62% range, then he will beat Squall, but should lose to Crono. anything between 63-66% and Vincent vs. Crono will be a close match. and if Vincent finishes with 68% or better, he is going to the finals.

that being the case, i think that Vincent will be able to break 60% and finish with somewhere between 62-65%. i'm leaning more towards 63% myself. and that's my two cents on Dante/Vincent/Squall/Crono.

I can't see anyway that Squall could SFF Vincent. I'd pick the top 5 FF7 characters(Cloud, Sephiroth, Aeris, Vincent, Tifa) to be able to SFF him on principal alone.

You know, I wouldn't be too surprised if Red XIII was stronger than Aeris. Or at least stronger than what she's done in the past.

After some careful consideration, however, I think it's possible that Cloud did a choke job against Samus last year.

I'll wait and see how the rest of round 2 played out before stating my reasons though.

As I've said, I don't think the boost affects the elite characters at much as mid and low tier ones, so if anything, it'll just even out the gap and make MvC a 50/50 affair again like in 2003...

I still don't see a lot of conclusive evidence for an all Nintendo boost. Yes, Kirby wowed everyone, but he did pretty much what he was expected based on unadjusted Tidus (I think the match would've seemed like a no brainer if we hadn't done the 20XX adjustment). DK almost upset the Chief, but 2003 predicted a close match regardless. Zelda blasted Vivi, but didn't come close to Snake.

I mean, other than Bowser and Ganondorf, there isn't much to go on, so I'd be more willing to call them isolated incidents.

...Based on what? A match with a newbie and a completely expected quadrupling against Mario?

By the way, Spring Contest Ganondorf vs. 2004 Auron (through Tails) predicted that match rather well. He didn't exactly bomb.
