Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
http://sc2k5.com/drupal/node/11

Simple Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

Funny how bowser overperforming actually means sephiroth didn't drop, if anything it means he gained some strength from last year.

the Spring Contest's results holding water (a.k.a. Sephiroth dropping)

Bowser beating Ryu and Ganondorf beating SFF-adjusted Auron worse than they should doesn't seem to suggest Sephiroth really dropped that much.

Well, hate to break it to all of you naysayers on the topic but I used existing stats on every match in the Gauntlet and managed to get them all correct with ease. Very, very few of you can say that. The problem most of you are clearly having is that you're incapable of discerning which stats are good and which are bad. Zelda 2k3 = Good. Vivi 2k4 = Good. Looking at those stats Zelda's 30ish to Vivi's 27ish makes the winner clear. In fact, reaching across time and space and doing what so many of you are calling impossible I discovered it'd be 55/45 in favor of Zelda! Oh My GOD! Yes, they were off a bit (and we don't know if it's because Vivi is down or Zelda is up) but the stats have without fail put me through the gauntlet.

I've missed 3 matches, one was to a newbie and one I never used stats for (heck, who didn't think Ocelot > Pac Man was common sense?) and the other one, well... that's the one stinkin' time the stats failed me... and half of that was because I just didn't want to believe Magus was that bad off (thanks for nothing, Ganon).

Match 41: (1) Master Chief vs. (4) Donkey Kong

Past Performances

Master Chief

Summer 2005
Beat CATS, 68.83% - 31.17%

Win - Lose Record
3-2

Donkey Kong

Summer 2005
Beat Sam Fisher, 64.76% - 35.24%

Win - Lose Record
4-3

Analysis

When summer 2k3 ended one of the matches I wanted to see was Master Chief vs. Donkey Kong, but 2k4 came and the match didn’t look so good any more. Now we’re in 2k5 and after round 1 this match might get interesting and for the third time in a row I’m going against my favorite (which has cost me four points) and I went with Master Chief, who by the way will be the favorite going into the match.

Master Chief’s performance last round was far from good. He needed the day vote just to pass the doubling point against CATS and he still couldn’t break 70%. Many of us use the spring results to show that if CATS gets a close-up picture he does much better than his eggplant picture. Despite what Vivi did, Donkey Kong seemed to do about as expected against Sam Fisher. Although there is the possibility that both characters dropped at the same rate and we just don’t know it yet.

The spring contest results are very weird and depending on who you use as a base will give you different results. I personally use Ganondorf as the base and with Master Chief’s performance that would put him below Donkey Kong, but for all we know Sephiroth could be the base so we have a range of possibilities here.

Nintendo has been showing a lot of power this contest and if Donkey Kong loses that would only make him the third Nintendo character eliminated as opposed to thirteenth if he was a Square character. If Master Chief can take the lead during the night it’s over for Donkey Kong, but I’m expecting Donkey Kong to have the lead or stay really close to Master Chief until the day vote arrives. My bracket is already ruined so I wouldn’t mind if Donkey Kong wins.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Master Chief over Donkey Kong

charmander6000’s Prediction: Master Chief wins, 52.57% - 47.43%
