Maybe in the stats topic, but the general population isn't going to give half a ****. Besides, Bowser has a pretty bad sprite as well (the one he used against Cloud), though it's certainly recognizable.

It's obvious that this is big--BIG--trouble for Snake, although if Bowser is just benefitting from a general Nintendo increase across the board then it doesn't look so bad. An increased Zelda makes Snake look better and better.

Personally I see this match as more of a statement maker for Bowser since Kirby will be a SFF affair, but yeah, I see where your getting at.

He'll end around 59% if it follows the Chun-Li trends. Which, so far, it's been doing almost exactly.

SSB:M is a game that is only going to get more popular until displaced by the new one. Thus, as time goes on, it can only gain fans. Nobody is going to get sick of it. It just keeps gaining fans, because unlike RPGs, it is not just one story that gets dull. It is a kickass multi-player that high school and college students everywhere love. To be fair, I am not sure of too many nintendo characters that are not in SSB:M that could ever make it in the contest, but if one were to, they would not get this 'Nintendo' boost everyone keeps talking about. It is SSB:M just snowballing popularity.

Heh. I predicted 60% for Bowser and that was way back when the 2nd round was just starting. My instincts were correct that he was going to flatten Ryu but he's even performing better than expected.

Wow, I don't think I've ever done this poorly in one of these contests. :(

I still think Samus is the only one who has a chance at beating Sephiroth. Mario might make the match a bit more respectable but he won't win. Crono is going to be SFF'd.

I think either Mario or Samus have what it takes to make Sephiroth really sweat. While Crono/Sephiroth would also be an interesting match, nothing would be sweeter than redemption for Mario after what happened in 2003.

But the Ryu-Samus match was in 2002 if I recall correctly. She was much weaker back then.

It's not a stretch to say either of those, if we qualify them with Samus 2k2, Snake 2k3, and Sonic 2k4. I wouldn't take Bowser 2k5 over Samus or Sonic even on their worst days, though, and even now I'm thinking it's not going to be that bad for Snake (Sora will give us a better estimate of if he gained enough to keep him above Bowser's level).

If that's true then it could affect sonic as well. He rose in the stats by nearly the same amount as kos-mos and ryu when compared to their 2k3 stats in 2k4. Or maybe not. I don't know.

I I'm aware of that, I was just saying that ryu was overrated in 2k4. He's probably not too far below his 2k3 level this year, bowser is just showing signs of being capable of beating snake.
