See? Like I said, you'd have to be insane to pick Ryu over Zelda, and Chun Li = Tidus.

And as Bowser storms past the 2500 mark, here's my winners and losers from the top half of the second round bracket:

1) Kirby

A brilliant performance by Kirby, the high vote totals helping him cruise to a somewhat unexpected victory over Tidus by a clear 15%. A Nintendo swing? A 1-seed factor? Tidus just being extremely ordinary? All of the above?

2) Bowser

The match is still in progress, but right now he's taking Ryu to the cleaners with over 57%, and rising rapidly with the day vote. A vulgar display of power, which if maintained can only be described as noble-nine-esque. Solid Snake has every reason to be worried.

3) Sora

Another match in the "gauntlet", and another match which ends in disappointment for anyone expecting something close. Sora never allowed Alucard into the match, going toe to toe during his strongest hours and running away with the day vote. Wins what is effectively his final.

4) Mario

SFF's Ness into oblivion, very encouraging for anyone with Mario>Samus. Had probably the second easiest opponent in this round, but still put the match away. 82%+ against anyone is impressive.

5) Samus

Doubled Frog and showed him up as being overrated last year. Just about managed 70%, a bit better than what a lot of people expected, namely around the doubling mark.

6) Zero

The question was not if Zero would win, but by how much, and 70%+ and pushing towards a tripling is very nice. Very weak opposition, but you can only face what you come up against.

7) Solid Snake

Negotiates a potential banana-skin quite safely, doing enough to defeat Zelda without too much trouble in what will likely be his hardest match of the division.

8) Ganondorf

Took down Auron, maintaining momentum from the Spring and now heads into a probable loss against Samus. Like quite a few people in this round, this match was probably "his final", in that whoever wins it is doomed to failure next round.

9) Zelda

Went within 10% of a noble nine competitor. Lots of people were whispering about a potential upset, particularly given the picture, but was losing from wire to wire. Notably did better than Aeris against a common opponent.

10) Alucard

His only chance was to pound Sora with the first night vote, and he didn't. Only managed to get a very small lead early, was losing by the time we got to 10000 votes, and the kiddies woke up to finish him off.

11) Auron

Never lead in the match, but was able to keep it fairly close for a while, then we got four hours in and Ganondorf ran away with the match.

12) Ness

Was doomed from the get-go, only managing to stay above 20% for a very short time, and finished with a poor showing both votes wise and percentage wise. A good contest though, with a great win over CJ.

13) Frog

From keeping Solid Snake on his toes to being doubled by Samus. Oh dear. 2004 is quickly forgotten as CT continues to implode.

14) Ryu

Ouch. Now trailing by 3000, percentage plummeting, couldn't even manage a thing with the night vote. Still has the potential to get even worse. Could well be a drop, coupled with an across the board Nintendo increase. He's doing worse than Yoshi did.

15) Tidus

Looked like it was his match to lose, and that he did, with the match being over before the kids woke up. Made to look extremely ordinary, overrated, downright weak, say what you will. This is a failure of epic proportions.

16) Lloyd Irving

Ought to be glad he got the one win that he did, against what is obviously a weak Wesker. Doubled from post to post, below 70% for most of it, just a poor showing all round.

I may post a divisional final preview for the top half later.

Darn...how on earth did Ocelot lose to PAC-MAN if Bowser's dominating like that?

Also, if Chun-Li has the same voting patterns as Ryu, Bowser should end up at about 58.5%, which is higher than both Snake and Samus managed. (so, Ryu surely weakened at least a bit)

Because they're too blind to realize that, and that all Nintendo characters in this tournament are from SSBM.

Because now if you buy a Gamecube for 99$, SSBM comes packed in free! Har Har.

But anyway, according to EBGame's top 10 charts, which aren't really official or anything, but SSBM is still the number 1 selling Gamecube game. It shouldn't be giving it a boost out of nowhere but at the least the game is still a fresh hit.

i seriously doubt this apparent Nintendo shift/boost has anything directly to do with SSBM, but it is all of the Nintendo characters that were in SSBM that seem to have boosted. that's what Tnote meant by "the year of SSBM".

Why would they get booted out?

The only way to get booted out is if you lose to a Non Noble 9 Character. Thats the only way to change it =/.

If Megaman lost to Sonic = He is still in

If Sonic lost to Megaman = He is still in

If Sonic lost to Tifa = Sonic out

If Megaman lost to Tifa = Megaman out

If Snake lost to Bowser = Snake out

You don't add members to the Noble 9, only subtract.

Megaman may have been one of the the strongest before and maybe even now, but he's also the most volatile. He's the only non-Square or non-Nintendo member besides Sonic and Solid Snake. The fact that his good games have stopped coming, and I think it'll bite him in the ass in the future sooner than it's going to bite someone like Crono in the ass.

Just...wow. I'm thinking this Ryu has definitely decreased (as seen in his performance against Rikku), but Ryu within 5% on Chun-Li is odd.
