back on the subject of vincent, depending on how huge his role in advent children is (he will practicaly be the star from what i understand), how well the fans like his new games, and how well both the games and the movie sell is vincent on track to being on the same level as link and cloud in 2006?

I think Kerrigan would have a hard time beating Kuja.

Vincent will be very strong after AC and DoC in all likelihood, but I doubt he's currently an elite.

Had you said that before the spring contest I'd agree, but since then I find it hard to believe too many characters are below Kuja in strength, sad as that makes me. Kerrigan, unfortunately, is not one of those characters.

Funny how expectations work like that. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Kuja beat Kerrigan... especially with that picture.

If anything, I figured Kuja would have taught you a lesson. Characters don't always live up to expectations. If Final Fantasy 9's villain can flop that hard, Starcraft's can too.

We'll see how good Kerrigan is based on how badly Vincent loses to Dante.

Kerrigan being at Kuja's strength still puts Vincent above Dante, unless DMC3 did wonders for him. I doubt he'll lose before Crono.

Yeah, if he beats Dante my bracket's destroyed, but no way in hell do I want 3-4 characters from the same damn game to be part of the "Noble Nine."

That's if we decide to keep the Noble Nine name, which I doubt we will.

I don't, because I don't feel like watching one game dominate everything.

I know I'm in an incredibly small minority on this, but I would prefer this contest to be dominated by FFVII characters then mute ones that I don't really care for. Yet, I may end up getting my wish. <_<

How can you feel a lot of apathy? Isn't apathy the lack of feeling? Like... being neutral? So how can you "feel so much apathy" towards anything? >_>

Yeah, that's a good point, actually. <_< I don't really know. I guess I dislike most of them, but I wasn't trying to be too biased.

Squall is by no means assured victory over Knuckles.

If you go by Kirby and Bomberman, there's reason to believe Squall may have dropped from 2K3 to 2K4 (and thus the SFF adjustment I made in 2K4 is too high).

Kirby was at 26.34% in 2K3, and through adjusted Squall he was at 28.54% in 2K4. Bomberman was at 19.59% in 2K3 and 22.36% in 2K4. Kirby was also at 25.54% in 2K2, so that 2K4 jump stands out a little more (whereas Bomberman was higher, at 23.01% in 2K2).

Anyway, setting Kirby 2K4=Kirby 2K3 brings Squall down to 29.27%. Setting Bomberman 2K4=Bomberman 2K3 brings Squall down to 27.8%. While neither of these calculations is trustworthy, they aren't something I'd dismiss completely.

I'd trust the Kirby adjustments more, and Squall would thus probably still be the favorite against Knuckles. Though Squall could well have dropped again this year, for whatever reason; whereas it seems unlikely that Knuckles dropped, because of the fact he beat Magus and all, and in fact is more likely to have increased. In any case, I'd say that Squall is not assured of beating Knuckles. I'll pick him and expect him to win by some thousands of votes, but he's not quite in the clear.

Match 39: (1) Kirby vs. (4) Tidus

Past Performances

Kirby

Summer 2005
Beat Cecil Harvey, 75.21% - 24.79%

Win - Lose Record
3-3

Tidus

Summer 2005
Beat King of all Cosmos, 72.54% - 27.46%

Win - Lose Record
3-3

Analysis

This is the fourth match of the overrated Gauntlet. So far it’s 0-3 for interesting matches and we’re looking at another boring match. Most of the board was convinced of Tidus winning before the contest, but like Snake/Zelda this match had gain some hype since then.

People did expect Kirby to easily beat Cecil, but not by that much. His win was very impressive, but I think it’s more to say that Cecil is weak since almost all of Old-Square has performed really crappy. Nonetheless this was the biggest non-SFF blowout a square character has ever gotten so it has to be worth something right?

You couldn’t even triple KoaC, I mean come on he can’t be that strong can he? Anyone who’s played Katamari Damarcy would probably end up voting for him, but I thought that game wasn’t popular. This better has been KoaC’s strength rather than Tidus’ weakness or else I’m in big trouble.

Kirby may be ahead of Tidus stat wise which seems weird, but that’s because of Magus’ over performance against Link. The only thing I find weird is that Shadow also fell at the exact same rate as Tidus, but can Mario anti-votes actually be that strong? I don’t think so. Also if Tidus is this weak that would put him in fourth of the FFX scale and I don’t see that happening. I think he’s the strongest, but I would settle for second strongest. Since I have Tidus winning the division he better put up Squall like numbers against Kirby tomorrow so my prediction may seem higher than usual.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Tidus over Kirby

charmander6000’s Prediction: Tidus wins, 56.12% - 43.88%

I'm pretty sure alot of people knew to pic the Square character.

Perhaps now...but last year, 39.06% had Sora winning his four-pack of HK-47, Hayabusa, and Jill Valentine. With stiffer competition, I doubt oh-so much he'll get 68% like you predict, even if Sora does have a 2-seed this year.

I really hope kirby vs. tidus isn't as overhyped as zelda vs. snake. I really think kirby is strong enough to pull off a win, but then again he might just bomb worse then zelda did. Which isn't really bombing at all, but rather just not living up to expectations that can't be achieved.

Seeds mean a lot though. Casual bracket makers tend to use the seeds as a guideline for who well usually win a match.

You could be right, since then again, I was in the 39% last year. I'll stick with it though, the upcoming release of KH2 has probably given people a better idea of who he is. And there's always the seeding.

Just because no one is discussing the upcoming match, it's making me nervous that Kirby might win... everything that's supposed to be good sucks, and matches that have the potential to be close, but are generally overlooked always get us...
