yeah, I'd probably take Alucard over DK, but I'd at least consider it. I think Alucard is slowly dropping due to having essentially no games over the last seven or eight years. I'd place him at around 25 or 26%.

PS2 fanboys?

One among a thousand voters, perhaps...

What? That's awfully few, considering how badly sony owns nintendo/microsoft in the polls.

That's because Jill dropped, not because Ryu is strong.

Yes, that would be more reasonable than Aerith - Sora SFF.

I don't play KH for the action, but I did that for MGS.

If you want action, you go for platforming or FPS games, not RPG's.

I don't like action, I don't like KH. I like MGS because I play it stealth.

Those who like Sora more will vote Sora, those who like Snake more will vote Snake, there's nothing more to it.

Actually, if all the voters had played both KH and MGS I think Snake would break 65%. I think the SFF will favour him.

You're getting ridiculous here, not everyone likes badass chars like Snake more then Sora.

Some might like angsty teens like Sora more!

Yeah, I certainly didn't expect Sora to dominate with the day vote like he has. It's very impressive. He should finish with at least 55% and maybe come close to 56% by the end. Considering what Ganon did merely a year ago, that's impressive.

Nah, Alucard wins that match, for sure. MC, if he's lucky, is equal to his 2k3 number (he appears to em to actaully be lower!) and the whole Frog = LS = MC doesn't actually look good for him any more. Alucard would have beaten the Chief two years ago and he'd beat him now.

I told you Sora is slowly becoming a beast in terms of popularity... With Kingdom Hearts set to sell big during the holiday season, he may get even stronger. As long as he has the Disney connection and Square advertises it well, he always has the potential to draw in new fans...

Well there are people that would.

And almost every gamer owns (or at least played) a PS/PS2 these days, so by your definition almost every single gamer is a Sony fanboy.

I don't recall ever defining the term Sony fanboy. I said Sony fanboy when I actually meant PS2 fanboy, hence the "Sony fanboy, as in PS2 fanboy". I don't know where you're getting that from.

Sora could've increased between 2k3 and 2k4, who knows?

For no particular reason?

So, you're a MSG fan and along with others will vote for Snake, your point?

What you forgot already?? MGS differs from KH much like KH does from FF. action/stealth =/= action RPG =/= RPG.

PS2 fanboys, if any, would be one in a thousand voters at most.
They don't matter.

For no particular reason?

Would you rather take him getting SFF'ed into the ground for no particular reason?
Oh, wait, you believe SFF happened in every single match...

What you forgot already?? MGS differs from KH much like KH does from FF. action/stealth =/= action RPG =/= RPG.

Think for a second will you, who does each char appeal to?
It doesn't matter how many people has played both games, what matters is how similar their appeal is.
And even their games appeals to completely different audiences.

Now, look at Crono vs. Magus, they're from the same damn game, yet the SFF between them is minimal.
Why? Because they appeal to different kinds of people.

There will be NO SFF between Snake and Sora, period!

Snake's not as strong as he was then (well, he wasn't last year anyway. Aeris would've given him a fight last year), and Sora seems to have increased. Even basing Alucard on his 2003 number, Sora should've only gotten around 52% here. He's past 55% now.

I SFF-voted Sephiroth over Liquid because I would vote Liquid over everyone else except Cloud, Auron, Squall, Tidus, Solid Snake and Ocelot.

Then why'd you vote for Sephiroth?

I'm seriously ready for this argument to end after this question's answered, myself.

30% increase for Sora? You're talking about going up to 30%, right? Because increasing in strength by 30% would put Sora at Mario's level.

Further more, this is only going a little bit better for Sora than using 2k3 Alucards vs. 2k4 Sora. By the end of the match if we assumed Alucard constant since 2k3 then Sora increases about 1.5%. Really, you anti-X stats people are going too far with your insanity there. There are limits to the stats, I've been championing that possition since before most of you even found the CSaD (or even before it was called that), and I still know they hold a good deal of relevance when you take things into proper consideration. Frankly speaking, that's how I knew from the very start that this match was a given, and if I were to have made a guess at this I'd have gone 45-55 (which, with some luck, it could still end thta way). Just because you don't know how to use the X-Stats and just because you blindly accepted them at face value when the very people who made them would not does not mean that they have failed.

those are RPG characters - they age better. Alucard is from a platforming title. in five years, do you think Kratos is going to be as strong as he showed this year? that's the best comparison I can think of.

"30% on BL, yeah."

That's reasonable, at first I thought you meant a 30% increase which would be well beyond ridiculous. Of course, I think Sora was still a tad underrated last year for some odd reason and that KH is just more well accepted than before. I mean, hell, last year there was only one KH character in the contest and now we've seen 3. I'm thinking that perhaps people are starting to liek the game for what it is and not for what FF characters they can expect to see in it.

Actually, you make me thnk you've never played the game if you off-handedly call it a platformer. SotN has many RPG elements added in, as well as the fact that it more resembles Metroid than a standard platformer. It's really not a good genre to put it in. That said, there have been many Castlevania games since keeping the old SotN fans coming back to GF year after year, even if Alucard isn't getting much screen time.

oh, I've played SOTN. (and I like it, if you think I have some bias against it.) I knew someone would say that; I know it has RPG elements. but to call it an RPG? RPGs have character development and story and all that - Alucard has little to none of that. you could play SOTN and not know Alucard's name and it wouldn't change the game whatsoever.

All he has left is his hardcore fans who wouldn't forget about him for decades to come.

He's a weaker version of Crono so to speak.
