hm. I think the only bad picture is Alucard. Tidus looks like, well, Tidus to me. if that's a bad picture, every picture of Tidus ever is bad, cause that's what he looks like.

1. Alucard was over-estimated in Ganondorf's SFF adjustment last year and shouldn't be ranked as high as is. (that one is more opinion than fact, but it is also pure speculation as to where exactly Ganondorf should have ranked in the first place.

Huh? If anything, that underrates him. Using Sp2k5 Ganon for the adjustment makes much more sense, considering that the Zelda boost occured from 2k3 to 2k4, so Ganon 2k4 = Ganon 2k5 > Ganon 2k3.

2. Sora got a new game on a new platform that sold several hundred thousand copies already, possibly introducing him to many more fans. plus, his personality was a bit more mature and likable in Chain of Memories.

Why did Alucard increase enough to do that well on Ganon 2k4/2k5? He got a new game on a new platform that sold several hundred thousand copies already, possibly introducing him to many more fans. plus, his personality was a bit more mature and likable in Aria of Sorrow.

3. this contest has had more voters than 2K4, and higher vote totals almost always favor the more mainstream character. and while SotN is one of the greatest games of all-time, Alucard is not a mainstream character.

SotN went Greatest Hits, and is extremely popular on GameFAQs. So far, the increased vote totals haven't been kind to Square at all, with the possible exceptions of Tifa and Vincent.

does anyone think Snake would have broken 56, 57, 58% if he had a good picture? if not, then I'd say any picture argument is futile.

You know, I didn't even know that was Alucard in AoS until you people kept bringing it up today. They don't call him Alucard at all, do they? Or was my attention span just craptastic when playing that game?

And yes, I think he would have. I had my Oracle pick at 57.something for Snake until I saw that awful pic. I think if it had been SSBM Zelda vs that Snake this match may have even been like 53-47. (because the Zelda pic kinda sucks too)

But like I said... I'm not the person to ask when it comes to "accepted thoughts" here... *sniff*

I think Snake's pic is fine. He doesn't look like him, but he looks "badass". I have a feeling the match would be a lot closer if we didn't have Young Zelda.

Yeah, the match pic sucked, but it drew in the votes nonetheless, and gave me a very good oracle pick of 54.20%. I might get my first top 5 today! *dances*. Just missed by getting #6 in Mario. Vs. Ness..

Also, I horribly regret changing my Sora > Alucard pick the other way around... *sigh*. I should have just trusted my gut instinct with picking Sora..... Alucard for the upset!!

Alucard's picture is okay. Nothing special... He just looks a bit feminine in the face from the front. And am I the only one who thinks Sora is looking more and more Cloud-like? He definitely is fitting the role of the typical FF protagonist. Kingdom Hearts might as well BE FFXI as far as characters are concerned.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/shared/sum05/b39.jpg

Ceej is actually making Kirby look BADASS in this contest! It looks like he's socking Tidus with a right hook. Tidus's picture is very grainy...

http://www.gamefaqs.com/shared/sum05/b40.jpg

I actually like that Bowser pic. It gives him an attitude that you don't really see in his standard SSBM pic. Ryu's pic is okay, but I like pics like he got against Dante better.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/shared/sum05/b41.jpg

M.C. D.K ..... Why do I feel the need to bust out the DK rap? I'm gonna be SURE to start a DK rap fad with that during his matchup. As far as the pic is concerned, I'm glad DK finally doesn't have a goofy second round pic...

Yeah, I've got basic Japanese knowledge and I didn't catch the association either. I guess they wanted it to be a little "tough" to figure out, because the best Japanese conversion would be Arukado.

I may have caught it if it was Arukado... but even then I can't be sure unless I actually said it aloud.

There is one distinct hint Aria of Sorrow gives when Yoko says:

"You've met Aluca... um, I mean, Genya Arikado right?"

It obviously gives it away, but if you're not paying attention to the conversations, it's easy to miss.

Bowser got the pic Leonhart used to continue Ceej's spree of "worst pics ever" for the round.

Yeah, I'm good like that. Ryu got another Third Strike picture, too. It looks awesome.

Alucard looks...well, like a woman. There's really no other way to put it. Sora actually looks cool.

It's not like Tidus has a lot of good pictures to choose from (HINT: USE THE FFX COVER ART, CEEJ!), but that's not too bad, considering he usually gets the one where he's just standing there, grinning stupidly.

Master Chief is...himself. DK looks awesome, he got the picture I was hoping to get. But...has anyone else noticed that the picture is a little smaller than the rest? I put it in my spreadsheet, and I noticed the difference immediately.

You know, I did not play too much of that game, but I definitely remember that line. It joins the extremely long list of GBA games I have started, but not finished.

FFTA
C:AoS
KH:CoM
SoM
FE:SS
M&L:SS

All together, probably a good 40-50 hours dumped into those games, with no completions to show for it. Damn my ADD.

oh my god, Alucard boost!!!!!!!

http://www.rpgfan.com/pics/castlevania-aria/art-03.jpg

I doubt it. Only people that have played or at least know about Symphony of the Night would be able to recognize him. And he doesn't really have that large of a role in AoS, besides saying a couple of lines. I don't see someone voting for him because of that when they wouldn't vote for him before.

And remember, the same GBA audience has also been introduced to Sora as well. I'm surprised people haven't really discussed that factor in his match against Alucard... Link also had Minish Cap...

I've played over 100 hours of FFX-2. You literally almost have to in order to get 100% completion. And I did all of that for a lame "perfect" ending. Bah.

as for Link, he doesn't need a new game to remind people he's around. the only reason TP even matters is because he's no longer cel-shaded Link.

Heh, I'm kinda the same way with the GBA games. I think I acquired too many of them, heh.

I'm currently playing Riku's Reverse Rebirth on Chain of Memories. I finished Mario & Luigi as soon as I got it. I loved that game. Sword of Mana, it's just there... I'm playing it slowly, but it doesn't compare to Secret of Mana 2. I'm also playing FF:Dawn of Souls and TRYING to get into the Mega Man Zero series.

Oh yeah, and I have FFTA but I have no intentions on ever touching it again. Meh...

Probably because THEY don't play them. Somebody has to be playing the games though. I don't see them as bringing HUGE boosts for a character, but they can help. Seriously, I think they at least helped Riku and Sora.

I remember reading that you had to watch, like, 15 hot springs scenes via commspheres. I did it out of curiosity and went '...........wow.' I never actually got 100% because I skipped all the scenes - I think if I just watched the story scenes I'd be at like 99.5% or so. I only cared about getting mascot.

talk about an anal game. I think they do stuff like that to sell strategy guides.

I haven't played a Kirby game since I had the original Kirby's Dream Land... And I actually loved that game. ;_; I think I need to go cop Kirby Super Star. Was Kirby 64 actually any good? I've been in the mood to buy all the N64 games I missed since they are dirt cheap now compared to $59.99.

I will admit that FFX-2 had some of the highest quality FMVs in the series though.
