So the Magus-Ganondorf match was a fluke?
From: dethfdddddh | Posted: 8/23/2005 8:37:28 AM | Message Detail
*wants to make Ganon/Benoit connection....but won't*

Magus/Ganon was no fluke: Ganon just had the Zelda collecter's edition since then.

Hey Slow, do you have your Top Places write-ups handy? I wanted to ask you if I could use your Trap Room write-up as a guest write-up for my Double Dragon 2 write-up. The Trap Room is my favorite moment in that game, and you even call the green dude "Arnold Schwarzenegger" like me...

I don't think Magus over Ganondorf was a fluke, but it's up to Tidus and Knuckles to prove that it wasn't.

Magus/Ganon was no fluke: Ganon just had the Zelda collecter's edition since then.

I'm still not buying that Collector's Edition as the main reason for a Zelda increase. I seriously doubt that a significant number of those Gamecube buyers hadn't already played OoT.

It COULD be a valid reason, but I'm skeptical about that...

Might just be the site becoming more Nintendo friendly, actually.

Could it become anymore Nintendo friendly?

Nintendo may replace Square as GameFAQ's favorite company eventually.

This is incredible...I would bet my life that Auron is at least as strong as Solid Snake, so for Ganondorf to be doing this...tomorrow's match is going to get ugly in a hurry.

Blah. For the sake of future contests, I hope that the Revolution tanks. :-P

If that was true I'd have serious problems with my pick for tomorrow's match. Shame that's incredibly unlikely.

*shrug* Look at what Auron has done against the likes of Ness and Scorpion, and look at what Snake did against Mega Man and Frog last year. Even if Snake has an edge, it would have to be pretty damn small.

Well, Auron still looks to be the strongest FFX representative, even with this match. Based on Sp2K5 Ganon, Auron is at 32.5%, about half a percent below adjusted 2004 Snake. I think that's pretty close to where Auron through Tails falls.

Matter of fact, I just checked, and it predicts Auron/Tails within .3%. I guess Scorpion just dropped last year.

Depends on where Kirby is. His number is still uncertain.

Unfortunately, Bowser would win easily, and he will if Tidus beats Kirby. Ganondorf looks to have come a long way since 2003.

And this match is on pace to break 100,000 easily at this point. It's quite a bit behind Ganon/Yuna, but we'll see if the polls are more end loaded than they have been now.

No Trap Room, sorry, I didn't save the write-ups.

Anyway, it's the second hyped match involving a Zelda character, and it's the second time said character wins without the opponent even making a match of it. What does that tell you?

Now it's time for, Fun With Numbers! Using their respective matches with Sephiroth, Auron would beat Vivi with 53.95%. As of this writing, Ganondorf has 54.98% on Auron. Now, supposing (just imagine, not a real assumption or anything) Ganondorf = Zelda, Auron now beats Vivi with 55.09%. Meaning Ganondorf and Zelda may very well be close in strength, which could have been the case in 2003 as well with Magus being overrated and all, and Link's boost possibly expanding to the entire Zelda representation.

Opinions?

Slow may be onto something with that theory...not bad at all.

As for today's match...looks like Tidus/Ganon's gonna be closer afterall, though I'd still give Auron the win over Tidus nowadays.

They won't be weaker. FFXII has the advantage of being the first "true" Final Fantasy game in over four years. That'll bring in the fans and the hype, but I don't think it'll be as popular as FFX.
