Is this not the second match where Samus has failed to bring in the votes? I'm thinking she's in trouble if the higher vote totals tend to favor the bigger draws (*cough*Mario*cough*).

A lot of character's popularity will probably wither way after a good 10 years. The average age remains between 13 and 21. So at the point in time where that age group is too "past the prime time" of playing FF7 and other games, then their popularity should theoretically decrease >_<

Until you factor in that characters like Link and Mario continue getting new big games and will probably continue to do so as long as they're around.

So while Crono, Cloud, and Sephy may drop, that just means that the chances of Link being beaten are abysmal, unless a huge new character comes and redefines gaming.

Yeah. But it shouldn't theoretically happen for another 15 or 20 years. And God willing, I hope I won't be coming here when I'm 40. So it doesn't apply to me or anyone else currently here anyway.

FFVII will probably remain the most popular RPG for years, and with all the cameos Cloud makes and new FF7-based games and a movie, I don't see why not.

How are we going to treat Mario/Ness? It's obvious ness was SFFd to hell and back, but are we going to leave him be or plug in his 2003/2004 stat? I think we should, tt's not like overrating Ness could hurt our brackets that much.

Waiting for Auron vs. Ganondorf and basing him off that might be best, since he's the best person we have to base Ness off of. If Auron loses to Ganondorf, it may be a little tricky as we have to determine what value to use for Ganondorf. If he wins, we'll have a nice measurement through Samus.

The problem is that we've NEVER had a great reading on Ness. The best we could ever do was try to judge Ness through adjusting Auron in 2k4 by Tails 2k4 or Scorpion 2k3, and the results each of them showed were about 2% different (not huge, but still enough to be shaky about, especially for an adjustment). In all likelyhood, I'd assume he goes unadjusted this year.

Personally, I'd be surprised if Sora beat Alucard after conceding 30% to Agent 47. Then again, I'd be equally surprised if Alucard won after getting only 55% against Kratos... darn.

Of all the upcoming Gauntlet matches, Sora/Alucard is the one I've lost most confidence in. Unless I'm doing something wrong, in order for Alucard and Sora to be statistical equals, Kratos would need to beat Agent 47 with around 68%. It's obvious Kratos is stronger, but I can't see a bald badass from a casual game doing that well against another bald badass from a casual series.

I don't think that Sora will beat Alucard just because Samus is making Frog looks weaker than him.

It has been proven that Frog is just a weak bastard, and Samus could have increased from MP2, you know.

Are they? If anything, Ganondorf/Auron and Bowser/Ryu have been gaining hype over the past several days, and Snake/Zelda is still as debated as ever. I think the only match which may have lost a bit of its anticipation is Alucard/Sora.

Well too bad that the Crono Trigger characters fall. But it is obvious, since this game came about 10 years ago, maybe more and the average age of people in this site is about 16 years old.So many people haven't played it.And I am sure in 5 years,we will say:<Who is that Crono guy?Where does he come from?>And perhaps we will say that about FFVII characters too!

Thoughts on the upcoming matches:
Ganon/Auron - I think it's really Ganon's match to lose.
Snake/Zelda - This match frightens me. Might be the 2nd most likely to happen.
Alucard/Sora - I would rather have had Sora's first round match than Alucards...
Kirby/Tidus - Of all the upsets, I think this one has the best chance of happening.
Bowser/Ryu - Please don't disappoint, Bowser.
MC/DK - DIE DK DIE.

Ganon/Auron - I have a feeling Ganon will win but I will waste a point to see Auron > Ganon .. GO AURON!!
Snake/Zelda - I am fairly confident in Snake so no worries there for me, at least not by a significant amount.
Alucard/Sora - Eh.. Tough match to call, just have to wait and see.. But regretting my Alucard > Sora pick nonetheless
Kirby/Tidus - WTF?? Tidus will win.. 100% chance of happening
Bowser/Ryu - Bowser has the advantage but I hope it'll be one exciting match
MC/DK - It could very well be close but MC will win..
